Blaziken was level 93, and Charizard was level 91—both were early-stage Champion-level Pokémon, while Genesect was level 92.
In terms of level, it was not higher than Blaziken.
However, sometimes a Pokémon's true combat prowess couldn't be measured by levels alone. Many exceptional Pokémon often displayed strength beyond what their level would suggest.
Before Mew drained its energy, Genesect itself had been level 100, standing at the very peak of the Champion tier. It had even intended to use the Seven-Aperture Stone to absorb the energy of the entire secret realm in an attempt to break through and become a First-class Legendary.
Its strength and ambition far surpassed those of most Pokémon.
And as a Mythical Pokémon, it was inherently superior to ordinary Pokémon.
So even though Omar had sent out two Champion-level Pokémon, he still showed a strained expression.
Aside from the fact that his strength truly fell short of his opponent's, Omar also had other concerns.
Not all the soldiers in his vicinity had evacuated yet, so while battling Genesect, he had to divert part of his attention to have Charizard block the residual shockwaves of the battle.
Genesect, on the other hand, had no such concerns. It was already filled with rage and needed to vent that rage through slaughter.
So every move it made was now further amplified by its fury, and it was going all out with absolutely no regard for defense.
Genesect suddenly used Metal Claw on the retreating army below.
It was deliberately aiming its attacks at the retreating troops, clearly noticing that Omar cared a lot about those humans.
The Steel-type move transformed into a massive claw nearly a kilometer long. The claw tore through the air, generating powerful gusts as it hurtled toward the soldiers below.
Although the enlarged Metal Claw had significantly reduced power, it was still more than enough to crush the humans below.
Seeing this, Omar commanded Blaziken, "Blaziken, Flamethrower!", enhanced by the Blaze Stone, was incredibly powerful. A single blast of flames pierced straight through the giant Metal Claw.
But the next second, Blaziken was suddenly slammed away by Genesect, which had switched into its 'high speed flight configuration'. The force of the impact sent Blaziken crashing hard into the ground.
BOOM!!
A force no less powerful than an Earthquake erupted as Blaziken hit the ground.
Instantly, the earth split open, and dust and debris flew rapidly in all directions.
Not every soldier had a Flying-type Pokémon, and not every Flying-type Pokémon was capable of carrying a person.
Watching the earthquake caused by Blaziken’s crash swallow hundreds of lives, Omar’s face turned ashen.
Just then Charizard's Fire Punch landed heavily on Genesect, but it only sent it flying back a dozen meters. At the same time, as it was thrown back, Genesect's Metal Claw slashed across Charizard's face.
Several deep gashes instantly appeared on Charizard’s face, so deep that bones could be seen.
"Blaziken, Mega Evolve!"
Seeing Blaziken stagger to its feet from the crater, Omar did not hesitate to trigger Mega Evolution.
The impact from Genesect's earlier strike had left Blaziken severely injured.
After Mega Evolving, Blaziken's level increased from 93 to 94, and its wounds were partially healed under the evolution's power.
However, its stamina and energy would begun to drain rapidly.
As a Trainer, Omar could only sustain Mega Evolution for five minutes—a duration that was already quite long. Most people could only maintain Mega Evolution for three minutes, much like Ultraman, whose warning light flashes after three minutes.
The appearance of Mega Blaziken brought a hint of seriousness to Genesect's eyes. Perhaps now its opponent's strength was finally worth some effort.
But only barely—it was still far from being taken seriously.
"Charizard, Sunny Day!"
Charizard flew to Mega Blaziken's side.
"Char!"
With Sunny Day active, the sunlight in the sky grew intensely hotter.
Genesect sneered and beckoned to Blaziken and Charizard. 'Come at me.'
Mega Blaziken pushed off with its feet, its explosive strength instantly creating a crater in the ground beneath it, accompanied by a powerful shockwave.
Its figure vanished from the spot, reappearing beneath Genesect in an instant, its legs engulfed in blazing flames.
Under the boost from Sunny Day, the firepower of its Blaze Kick grew even stronger.
Meanwhile, Charizard's Dragon Rage followed closely behind.
Facing the pincer attack from both Pokémon, Genesect remained utterly calm. It spread both claws wide, condensing Steel-type energy to the extreme until they seemed almost solid.
The left Metal Claw blocked Mega Blaziken's Blaze Kick, while the right one split Charizard's Dragon Rage in two.
In the same motion, the right claw swung downward, striking the leg Mega Blaziken had used for Blaze Kick
.Mega Blaziken reacted quickly, trying to pull its leg back—but suddenly realized Genesect had already seized it with the left claw.
Crack!
A cruel glint flashed across Genesect's eyes as the right claw transformed into a X-Scissor. With a crisp sound of breaking bone and Mega Blaziken's agonized cry, its left leg was brutally severed by Genesect.
Mega Blaziken, now missing a leg, collapsed to the ground. While Genesect picked up the severed limb and stuffed it into its mouth, chewing with a sickening crunch.
For Genesect, the flesh and blood of a Champion-level Pokémon was highly nourishing. While it couldn't raise its level anymore, it could atleast restore its stamina.
Pfft—
Under Mega Evolution, Omar and Mega Blaziken were mentally linked. Now that Mega Blaziken's left leg had been severed by Genesect, the immense agony instantly severed their connection. The psychic backlash caused Omar to vomit a mouthful of blood.
"Ken…"
Having reverted from its Mega Evolution form, Blaziken forced itself to stand on one leg, enduring the pain as blood continued to gush from its severed left limb.
As a Fire- and Fighting-type Pokémon, losing a leg meant Blaziken's combat power was instantly cut in half. Blaziken’s legs were not only for movement—they were its most powerful weapons.
Of course, this world possessed treasures capable of regenerating lost limbs. And even though Pannar was relatively weak, over the years, it must have accumulated such rare items within its treasury.
And even if it didn’t, they could always seek help from other nations with greater resources.
However, even with such a treasure, the leg would not regrow overnight.
And at this point, whether Blaziken—or Omar, for that matter—could even survive against Genesect was still unknown.
Given the current situation, their chances of making it out alive were not looking good.
