Chapter 458 Mahayana Heaven

The legends of later generations are unknown, but in the Tang Dynasty.

After the monk had finished explaining his Buddhist teachings, he waited quietly. The young Brahman waited and waited for someone to refute and defeat the monk, but the wise masters from seventy countries gathered together, and no one dared to open their mouths.

'The teachers are waiting for flaws, thinking carefully.'

The young Brahman thought to himself.

Then came the second day.

The third day.

Still, no one challenged and no one refuted. The monk just sat there, and an invisible, terrifying pressure seemed to descend, and no one could open their mouths to refute. Until the fifth day, the young man saw his teachers go to the back.

Then came the commotion.

The young Brahman's pupils shrank, feeling the power of his sect. He turned his head sharply and saw raging flames rising up, almost burning the prayer flags to ashes. At this moment, a brilliant ray of sunlight burst forth.

The wandering swordsman from the Tang Dynasty drew his sword, and the sword light shot out.

It was as if the majesty of the sun god had erupted. The Brahman followers, unable to refute Xuanzang and even unable to open their mouths, were directly forced back. They summoned their guardian deities, but the wandering swordsman, who had been away from the Great Tang for fourteen years, was no longer the same as he had been.

The sword of King Harsha in his palm fell fiercely.

The guardian deity of the Brahman religion was beheaded directly.

The raging flames were dispelled, and the Tang country barbarian, who looked like a monkey, also ran out, wielding an iron rod in his hand and smashing the flames out. As the Brahman masters retreated in a panic, the sword in Chen Yuan's palm rose sharply, and the blade pressed against the other's chest, the light of the great sun flowing.

Chen Yuan wanted to kill these guys who were using underhanded tactics with one sword.

But considering the monk, he held back his anger, put away his sword, and sneered:

"Get out of here, or I would have chopped you up if it wasn't for Xuanzang."

"Sore losers."

Of course, this was just using written language.

Chen Yuan, who had a good relationship with King Harsha, was proficient in the curses of seventy countries in India.

Incidentally, he also included the styles of Gaochang, the Turks, and other countries, a total arsenal of one hundred and ten countries.

In the end, those Brahman masters ran away in a panic, leaving only the young man who still had the courage to stay. Chen Yuan didn't say anything to him, but took him back to his original place and said to him, "You are different from them. You have a lot of courage. Sit here quietly."

The young Brahman thanked him, wanting to see the scene of Master Xuanzang being refuted.

The debate lasted for eighteen days.

No one challenged.

All the masters and wise men were silent, allowing this monk from 50,000 miles away to suppress the wise men of seventy countries with his own strength. There were even many monks and Brahmans who racked their brains trying to crack Xuanzang's Buddhist teachings and converted to his disciples on the spot.

The eighteen days ended.

This grandest debate in the history of Buddhism ended in the most speechless way.

When the monk got up and walked through the path made by more than 5,000 wise men with his palms together.

The young Brahman saw the high monks of Hinayana Buddhism bowing down.

"Greetings, Liberator of Heaven."

The high monks of Mahayana Buddhism knelt down willingly.

"Greetings, Great Vehicle Heaven."

The monk, who had been away from Chang'an City for fourteen years, said softly: "It's time to return to Chang'an."

Shi Pantuo was stunned.

Fourteen years of trekking, fifty thousand miles of land, crossing one hundred and ten countries.

Xuanzang held one hand in front of his chest and said plainly:

"Now, I am the Great Vehicle."

...

!!!

Shi Pantuo's pupils suddenly shrank.

His heart surged, and he finally knew what the monk in front of him wanted to do...

But he didn't know what to say.

No one could deny it anymore, even the history that spread in later generations, even the countless monks in the world chanting Buddha, could not deny this point. When the Mahayana Buddhist monks mentioned the Great Vehicle Heaven, when the Hinayana Buddhist monks mentioned the Liberator of Heaven, among the countless monks in the world, they would only firmly lock onto one person.

The young Brahman looked at the majestic man like a god with trembling hands.

One hand held a Zen staff, and he walked past him.

It was as if he saw an unprecedented will, and then his state of mind was almost crushed. The monk went far away, but he seemed to never have left, always heavily suppressing his heart.

Years passed, and sixty years passed in a blink of an eye.

Xuanzang had already died, and the Buddhist kingdom had dissipated like a dream bubble, but people studying the history of this period discovered very strange things. Buddhism in this era had already begun to decline, and Brahmanism, the predecessor of Hinduism, was in its rising heyday.

During the seventh and eighth centuries, Brahmanism at its peak painfully began to reform itself, and finally, in the early eighth century, sixty years after Xuanzang left, it was completely upgraded to the complete version of Hinduism.

"So, teacher, how can we complete the legend of the Trimurti?"

The young Shankara asked the wise man in front of him.

The young Brahman of that year had already become an old man with white hair.

The Trimurti, Brahma among them need not be mentioned for the time being, Vishnu is different. He was originally just a sun god in legends, and only one of the sun gods. Shankara didn't understand why his teacher insisted on turning this sun god into one of the Trimurti.

The former youth, now an old and white-haired wise man, instructed his disciples to collect the legends of ancient India and evolve them into an important classic, *The Ramayana*. He murmured, "Vishnu has incarnated many times, and one of them is named Rama."

"Yes, teacher, so what about Rama's image?"

"Image..."

"Black hair, heroic, carrying an immortal blade as hot as the great sun, with a monkey-like follower by his side..."

The old man's memory had begun to blur.

As for the last of the Trimurti, Shiva, Shankara sorted it out and said, "This deity seems to lack a title. Teacher, you are knowledgeable and can you determine a title for Shiva? The legends of the past Brahmanism can no longer match this great god."

"Shiva..."

The old man murmured, tiredly closing his eyes, and after a long time, he murmured:

"Great God, Mahadeva, God of Destruction."

Shankara respectfully responded. Buddhism in this era had almost disappeared, and he didn't know what this title represented. The scene that emerged in the old man's mind – the prayer flags between heaven and earth swayed, as if to overwhelm everything, destroy everything.

His teachers and elders lost confidence, and eventually even wanted to interrupt the monk's debate by burning it with flames, but they were stopped by the heroic swordsman and the monkey-like barbarian.

...Even after half his life, from a young man to an old man, he could not forget that scene...Countless monks and Brahmans prostrated themselves and admitted that the Tang monk in front of them was their guide, the Liberator of Heaven of Hinayana Buddhism, and the Great Vehicle Heaven of Mahayana Buddhism.

On that day, the prayer flags swayed, and the white elephant carried the holy monk away.

Countless monks bowed down and shouted titles.

And the Great Vehicle Heaven, is just a saying in Tang people's words, and what was being shouted at that time, was another language. In that endless shouting, the young Brahman in his memory shook his mind and murmured, and the old man at this moment whispered at the same time:

"Great Vehicle Heaven, Tang Xuanzang."

"Title – Mahayana Deva."

Outside, Shankara was spreading the new legend of the Trimurti.

"The Destroyer God, Shiva."

"Title – Mahadeva."

ps: Today's second update...two thousand four hundred words, thank you innocent灬Xiao Ranmeng Alliance Leader.

In fact, these two chapters are better mixed together. Lying down, mainly because it will be useful later, so finish the Western Regions chapter as soon as possible.

Shiva is really called Mahadeva, and Tang Sanzang is also really called Mahayana Deva. These two titles, can't be said to be very similar, after all, there are two more words.

Xuanzang traveled west in the seventh century. Within a few decades after he left, the originally strong Brahmanism reformed itself and evolved into Neo-Hinduism, which should have nothing to do with that monk (probably); and the title of the great god representing destruction, has nothing to do with him (confirmed).
