Kindhearted Mama

Chapter 1239: [1239] Making an unreasonable fuss

"What are you thinking?" Doctor Dong rolled up his sleeves and showed his fists to her. "Do you think the three of us men can’t handle the two of them?"

That was actually possible. Xie Wanying thought of the boys in her class, like Li Qi’an, who had less strength than she did. She reckoned she could knock someone down, but Li Qi’an probably couldn’t. To be honest, Doctor Dong had a bit of that scholarly frailty like Student Li, the kind who couldn’t even defeat a chicken with their bare hands. Fortunately, she didn’t say this out loud, or else this group of seniors would probably butcher Student Li.

At the door, a security guard stormed into the emergency department with a baton. Not long after, the police arrived.

Upon hearing that something serious had happened in the emergency room, Huang Zhilei, as the in-house resident, rushed downstairs in a hurry.

And what about the junior sister? How is she? Should he call Senior Cao to let him know? Huang Zhilei was so anxious that he couldn’t think straight.

"She seems to have gone to check on the patient," Sister Seo said to Huang Zhilei.

After helping the police record the statement, Xie Wanying had indeed gone to check on Liu Wenyu’s condition. She had made a promise to the patients—never to leave anyone behind.

After hearing this, Huang Zhilei could only wipe his forehead: Their junior sister, always so single-minded, seemed completely unaffected emotionally.

The male doctors present, including Li Chengyuan, were just as speechless as Huang Zhilei when they heard this.

"Where’s Xin Yanjun?" Li Chengyuan suddenly noticed that the equally single-minded female teacher was also missing, so he asked.

"Doctor Xin went to the Observation Room. By the way, Doctor Huang, maybe you should go check on the Observation Room. That patient was supposed to be admitted to Neurosurgery, but the family refuses to let her undergo a head CT scan and has been relentlessly harassing Doctor Xin, nearly all night long. Xie went to check on a patient earlier and might be helping Doctor Xin now."

Which patient was causing trouble? Huang Zhilei and Li Chengyuan perked up when they heard this and immediately headed to the Observation Room.

It was nearly one in the morning, and the Observation Room was quiet. Patients needing observation were asleep, while their family members were dozing off. Medical staff who entered were careful to lower their footsteps, unwilling to disturb those resting.

Inside, there was only one woman whose voice was loud, yelling, "You tell me clearly—what do you mean by this? Is this how you doctors work? You say my mom has a cerebral infarction, so I asked you to prescribe her medication to unblock the blood vessels. Why won’t you give her the medicine? Prescribe it, let her recover quickly, so we can go home. Don’t waste our time!"

"Haven’t I explained it to you many times already? It might not only be a cerebral infarction—it could also be a cerebral hemorrhage. Since you’re unwilling to let your mom take a CT scan, how can I prescribe medication? We can’t determine the illness without checking first. The treatment for both conditions is entirely different, and getting it wrong could be fatal. Also, keep your voice down; others are asleep," Xin Yanjun said to the family member.

"You just want to go to sleep. I know you want to go to sleep," the patient’s daughter snapped back at Xin Yanjun.

"Please calm down," Xie Wanying chimed in to assist the senior doctor.

"I am perfectly calm. I know you’re just an intern, so shut up. I’m not like that old grandmother who lets herself get tricked by you."

Patients and their families can sometimes say things that cut deep into the hearts of medical staff. Despite working in the life-saving profession, being doubted like this could easily incite anger.

Having been harassed all night long, Xin Yanjun felt her patience had reached its limit. She was a female doctor known for being relatively patient and gentle in clinical practice, but tonight this patient’s family member was truly unreasonable, pushing her close to breaking point.
