Chapter 1385: 【1385】Do not be anxious

“How long have they been at it?” Yu Xuexian came back from outside and asked the nurse.

“Almost an hour.” The nurse looked at the clock on the wall and calculated.

When the patient was brought in, the surgeons had given advance notice that this case would be difficult. The nurse was mentally prepared for a lengthy operation, so her tone was calm and composed.

Yu Xuexian and the others felt overwhelmed after hearing this.

An hour had dragged on, and the guidewire still hadn’t reached the heart, not to mention the stent that was supposed to be placed later.

Li Chengyuan shook his head: This Doctor Fang clearly isn’t capable; he has to be replaced.

Having Jin Tianyu take over for Doctor Fang seemed unlikely, as Jin Tianyu hadn’t moved, indicating he wasn’t confident. Given the situation, calling in the old director of the cardiology department wouldn’t make much sense; the old director’s skills in this area weren’t as strong as the younger doctors’.

Fu Xinheng watched the operating room, a heavy expression forming between his brows.

The atmosphere was tense. The development of the surgery seemed to be growing increasingly severe.

Outside, the patient’s family and friends waited anxiously.

Suddenly, the phone rang.

Everyone looked at Fu Xinheng.

In the sterile operating room, Jin Tianyu and the others seemed to hear the phone ringing too; heavy breathing faintly transmitted from the operating room to the control room. Any slight sound could cause a ripple at this moment.

Fu Xinheng raised his phone to his ear to listen.

As expected, it was Doctor Seo calling to ask about the follow-up.

“Doctor Fu, how’s everything?” Dr. Seo asked, “Can the PCI be done? Did something unexpected happen during surgery?”

“Let’s wait a bit longer.” Fu Xinheng replied in a steady tone.

Whether the patient should be transferred to thoracic surgery or undergo bypass surgery had to be a decision made by the attending cardiologist. The patient was currently under cardiology treatment, and the attending had not invited thoracic for a consultation.

“If it really can’t be done, Doctor Fu, since you are in the operating room and can see the situation, could you pass accurate information back? We will communicate with the patient’s family here and suggest they propose a transfer to surgery with the attending.” Dr. Seo said.

Doing it this way would essentially be putting pressure on Jin Tianyu and the others.

The family only thought about saving their relative and didn’t consider whether this would cause discord among the doctors over this issue.

Knowing this made Fu Xinheng feel awkward, Dr. Seo said, “Actually, it would be best if they felt they couldn’t proceed and directly invited you, Doctor Fu, for a consultation to make the decision.”

“That’s why I said, let’s wait a bit longer.” Fu Xinheng replied.

Xie Wanying and the others beside him realized that Teacher Fu trusted his colleagues and believed they would make the right choice, so there was no need to rush.

If it truly couldn’t be done, the cardiologists would surely give up and transfer the patient to thoracic surgery. No doctor would be foolish enough to keep going under unmet technical conditions until the patient died; that would be a medical malpractice case.

The patient’s family’s concerns weren’t really necessary.

Doctor Shim’s voice came again from the other end of the line: “Let me say a few words to them.” It seemed Doctor Shim was by Doctor Seo’s side, constantly following the progress of this issue, and said, “If it were me, I would let Dr. Xie have a go.”

“Shut up!” Yu Xuexian couldn’t bear it anymore and shouted.

“Who was that?” Seemed someone heard themselves being cursed, Dr. Shim mumbled and asked.

As a classmate of Jin Tianyu, Dr. Shim, without a doubt, was also one of the students from the eight-year program. When Xie Wanying and her classmates realized this, they were taken aback internally.
