Chapter 1796 - 1789 Epilogue

Chapter 1796: Chapter 1789 Epilogue

"Tsk tsk..." This scene made Tang Ye sigh. He shook his head and glanced down at the ground, feeling a strong distaste for the rotten flesh.

The Nightmare Zombie King was dead, completely dead, but the substances it left behind after exploding caused a large number of strange plants to grow around, decorating the world in a way that no longer resembled Earth. Right after sprouting, these plants rapidly grew to full size and then started producing pale red spores in large quantities.

Tang Ye temporarily didn’t know the purpose of these spores. Clearly, the Nightmare Zombie King could have just died quietly, but it refused to do so. Instead, it chose to decompose the anti-life matter within its body, using this suicidal method to let its remains pollute the surrounding environment.

Tang Ye could understand; this was a typical "won’t let you live comfortably even in death" behavior! Yet he felt like mocking it, as this behavior was useless against him since he was also a Level 9 zombie. Although the effect of these spores was unknown, it could not affect him, although it might affect lower-level zombies or humans. However, there were no people here, not even zombies!

So, what was the use of this pollution?

As for the side of China, as long as they weren’t foolish, no one should come here, right?

Of course, if someone insisted on courting death, Tang Ye couldn’t do anything about it.

After scanning the surroundings again, Tang Ye noticed an area with a darker color and walked over. In no time, he found a pile of meat foam.

"Ma De, this is disgusting," Tang Ye said with strong distaste, waving away the spores floating in front of him. Then, the flesh at his back squirmed and extended a tentacle to search inside. Before long, a brightly colored Evolution Crystal appeared before him.

"So this is a Level 9 zombie’s Evolution Crystal." Tang Ye took it, unable to avoid a sense of disappointment, though he had expected it. A Level 9 zombie’s Evolution Crystal wasn’t of any color known to people but a new color visible only to beings of his caliber!

This was a vibrant, distinct new color, not inferior to green, blue, red, or yellow!

It came from the Evolution Crystal inside the body of a Level 9 Zombie King. It was about the size of a baby’s fist, but Tang Ye could feel the massive energy within it! It seemed capable of transforming all things in the world! Before him, the shimmering light inside was so distinct and beautiful. He lifted his hand and held the Evolution Crystal up to the sky. Under the sunlight, it was so crystalline and transparent that Tang Ye couldn’t help but become captivated.

After admiring it for a while and satisfying his curiosity, Tang Ye put the thing away, controlled his body back to the size of a normal person, and draped a simple garment made from vibrating black mist over himself. He sensed some of his kind rushing toward him from afar, smiled, and went to meet them.

Before long, Tang Ye saw Gong Xiao and Ah Fu from a distance.

"Boss!" Upon seeing Tang Ye, Ah Fu waved to Gert and the others behind him and then ran up to Tang Ye.

"Boss? Are you alright?"

"Aren’t you asking the obvious?"

"Uh..." Ah Fu awkwardly scratched his head. He seemed a bit excited to see Tang Ye and didn’t know what to say for a moment, but soon heard Li Man from behind asking, "Boss, is the Nightmare Zombie King dealt with?"

"Would I come here to find you if it wasn’t dealt with?"

"I knew it! Boss would definitely win!"

"After all, I am the Zombie King," Tang Ye could not help but feel a bit proud under the gaze of admiration from his subordinates. After briefly recounting the battle with the Nightmare Zombie King, he quickly looked at Gong Xiao and asked, "Anyway, that’s about it. If there’s anything you don’t understand, don’t ask me because I can’t explain it myself. Is everything on your side handled?"

"Don’t worry, Boss. Most of the sonic zombie swarm has been assimilated into our group. There are just a few Level 8 ones that escaped, but our people are still looking for them..." Gong Xiao hesitated but didn’t say more in the end. Tang Ye didn’t notice her expression and waved his hand, saying, "That’s fine, these kinds of things happen everywhere; having a few more isn’t a big deal."

"Let’s go, let’s head back. The rest can be left to the people at the Cloud Gorge Base to handle."

Tang Ye smiled and led the group away. Perhaps seeing them lifted his spirits, but he failed to notice everyone behind him relaxing the moment he turned around. Along the way, Tang Ye asked how long it had been since he was sealed into the cocoon, learning that thirteen days had passed since he entered the illusion. Gong Xiao and the others recounted some events that occurred after he was sealed in the cocoon.

Two hours after being cocooned by the Nightmare Zombie King, Hong Heixin, Li Man, Ha Zhen, and others, having finished the battle, finally gathered the courage to approach the cocoon. As more companions arrived, they attempted to break the cocoon to rescue Tang Ye but found it incredibly strong and tenacious. During the thirteen days, dozens of powerful Level 8 beings tried breaking it together, but all attempts ended in failure, though they never gave up. This was also why barriers were later set up to prevent bounty hunters from photographing the cocoon state.

Some laughable incidents occurred throughout this process. For instance, Sun Junshou tried to showcase his "peerless" physics knowledge at this time. After two days of calculations and action, the cocoon remained unmoved, drawing a burst of laughter from everyone. On the third day, Ah Fu boasted he could smash the cocoon himself. However, not only did he fail, but he also knocked out a tooth due to excessive force!

Perhaps the scene was too humorous, but when discussing this matter, those around couldn’t help but burst into frantic laughter, igniting Ah Fu’s fury!

Tang Ye ungraciously laughed too, already envisioning the scene in his mind. A Level 8 zombie with a broken tooth was simply an enormous disgrace!

However, his laughter soon disappeared. Having successfully dealt with a Zombie King, he should have been in an exuberant mood because victory indeed was worth celebrating!

But the words of the Nightmare Zombie King left a lingering gloom in his heart.

The Nightmare Zombie King was dead, which also meant Dairya was dead. He really didn’t know Dairya’s past, yet even so, he agreed with Lu Xiaojie’s opinion that Dairya did not deserve to die. From Tang Ye’s perspective, Dairya was still kind! By killing the Nightmare Zombie King, he indirectly killed a kind person.

This reminded him of long ago when, to avoid being overwhelmed by zombie instincts, he decided to be a good zombie who punishes evil and promotes good.

It seemed he broke his promise again...

However, speaking of Lu Xiaojie, Tang Ye remembered something and quickly asked, "By the way, how is Lu Xiaojie now?"

"Lu Xiaojie?" At Tang Ye’s question, everyone froze, looking at each other, and Tang Ye felt his heart sink at the sight of this scene.
