Chapter 148: All Hail The King
Currently, the whole citizenry of the nation stood on the street, waiting and cheering for the arrival of the king.
Atop the balcony of one of the biggest mansions, Mila stood, both hands on her walking stick as she surveyed the people below.
"Wow... I don’t know they love him to this extent," a middle-aged woman muttered in surprise.
"Have you ever seen a King, who stupidly throw tens of billions away? And on his people at that... Because of this, there is not even a single soul in this nation who is homeless or broke," Mila said, her gaze flat, but a warmth grew inside her.
"I won’t call that stupid, Mother," the woman said, and continued, "In fact, I will say he is the smartest king we have ever got... Look at our nation now... We have three huge walls around us... If we are under attack, the enemy will have to pass the first wall, before the second, and lastly the third, before reaching where these people are living... And each of the walls has more than a twenty million Mercenaries stationed on it... Not only that, He brought more than a hundred transport ships to help with the people traveling, and even delivering ships... And—"
"Ok. Ok. I get it, he is great," Mila quickly cut off her daughter-in-law.
"Now... Where is that grandson of mine? Why isn’t he back here?" Mila asked, changing the topic.
"He went on some investigation with the first commander... That was yesterday, they should be back by now," she said, a hint of worry in her tone.
"Don’t worry, Rose, they are safe... I can still feel his soul," Mila said with a smile.
"Thanks, Mother."
WHOOSH!!
"AHHH!! THEY ARE HERE!!!!"
The two looked up at the sky, as a warship descended from the clouds and landed at the city’s entrance.
’This is the only disadvantage... No matter the amount of walls placed, the sky is still open for airborne attacks,’ Mila thought.
’Josephine made some good decisions with the walls, transport ships and the rest... But she wasn’t the one who got the credit, but the King?’ Mila smiled to herself.
’What am I thinking? Whose money is she using?’
"Mom? Why are you smiling?" Rose asked.
"Oh, it’s nothing," she said, staring at the group of people who were walking inside the city, her eyes fixed on her grandson.
"Mom... Something isn’t right," Rose suddenly said.
"Yes... These are the soldiers who followed the first commander to investigate the loss of some ship... But where are the rest? And where is the commander?" Mila asked, a slight frown on her face.
___
Alexandra and the group stopped at the entrance, staring at the citizens who stood on both sides of the road, cheering them on.
"Um... What should we do or say?" Mia asked nervously.
"Why... Why are you asking me? This is also new to me," Mike stammered.
"Guys! Just wave and smile! What you are feeling now is the joy of getting noticed," Denny said with a smirk.
"Easy for you to say. You are the grandson of the Lion clan’s leader, we are just commoners," Joseph said in a low voice.
"You are no longer commoners," Alexandra turned to the fifteen soldiers behind her. "You are soldiers, so raise your head and accept that identity," she said.
"Alexandra is right."
".....?!!"
Everyone turned their heads to the entrance, as the space tore open, and a gateway formed... From it, Sunny, Star, and Ellen walked out.
".....?"
"IT IS THE KING!!!"
Someone yelled from the crowd, and chaos followed. The citizens were screaming at the top of their lungs, throwing flowers and cheering.
Star, Ellen, Alexandra, and the rest present blinked for a couple of seconds, clearly not expecting the people to be so enthusiastic.
Sunny moved his gaze on the people who he can now wholeheartedly call his... Watching as all the races joined together, cheering and celebrating as one... He still couldn’t believe he caused this reaction.
"From nothing to something," Star whispered to him with a smile on her face.
Sunny nodded and waved his hand at the people: "Thank you, everyone! I love you all... Tonight, there’ll be a celebration! Everyone! Party and drink to your heart’s content... Everything is on me today!! Oh... And the military will also receive some gifts from me for their hard work!!" He yelled, his words only added fuel to the already crazed people.
"THE KING IS THE BEST!!!"
"WE LOVE YOU FOREVER!!"
"ALL HAIL THE KING!!!"
"WE NEED ONLY YOU!!!"
"YES!!!"
"Wow... And I thought I was famous enough," Denny muttered in disbelief.
"Can you compare yourself to the king?" A female soldier asked with a frown.
"I can’t even compare myself to his shoes... The king throws money like it’s water... I can’t even think about throwing some millions, let alone billions," Denny said.
"You haven’t seen the trending news? At the auction, the king spent hundreds of trillions... You should be grateful that you aren’t worth his shoes," a man said.
"....?!" Denny was dumbfounded.
Wasn’t that an indirect insult?
"THE QUEEN IS HERE!!" Someone screamed.
Sunny watched as a golden carriage rode towards them, and the moment it stopped, Josephine got down, and silently walked towards him and Ellen.
"Dad... Mother is so beautiful today," Ellen whispered, while Sunny could only nod his head, like a lizard.
Before everyone’s gaze, Josephine stopped before Sunny and kissed him right in front of them.
"...?!!!!!"
The whole city and Sunny were flabbergasted.
’Oh?! So bold,’ Sunny thought in shock.
"Hmph... Did she forget she is a Queen?" Mila, who still stood on the balcony, asked with a frown.
"It is nice, Mum... The Queen’s action shows the people the royal family is peaceful... And that she trusts them. Which will surely increase their trust in them... She just made history again," Rose said with a loving smile.
"What have you been doing?! Don’t tell me you are reading those clingy romance novels," Mila spat out, turning to Rose.
"What? But Mom, nothing is wrong with those novels, they teach us about love and how to please our—"
"Please stop," Mila said.
"Huh? But mum, the—"
"I say stop!!" Mila yelled at her, and Rose giggled, turning back to the celebration.
