Chapter 153: Conqueror
Silence hung in the air for ten seconds, the weight of the moment almost unbearable. Then, with a sudden flash of light, the mercenary’s eyes glowed back to life.
"What the?!" Frederick took an involuntary step back, his eyes wide with shock.
The mercenary, having not forgotten its last command, shot toward him like a golden bullet. It appeared before Frederick in a blink and slashed its sword.
".....?!"
BAM!
The mercenary’s blade was met by Jolie’s spear, the force of the impact pushing her back several feet.
"Mom, are you alright?" Frederick asked, placing a hand on her shoulder.
"There is something seriously wrong with this mercenary. First, a mercenary shouldn’t be this powerful. Second, the MEB didn’t even affect it," Jolie said, her voice a mix of disbelief and concern.
"It did! It froze it for ten seconds! Maybe if I attack it again, we can take it down."
Without hesitation, Frederick brought out another grenade and threw it at the same mercenary.
BOOM!
The grenade exploded in a flash of red light and a wave of crackling energy. But to their horror, the mercenary just shot towards them again, a blur of golden armor. With a swift movement, it zipped past Jolie and headed straight for Frederick.
"It! It didn’t work?!"
Frederick quickly drew his sword, meeting the mercenary’s blade in a desperate clash.
BAM!
The collision sent him flying backward ten feet, his feet gouging deep, huge cracks into the ground.
"How can one mercenary have this much strength?!" Jolie yelled, turning her gaze to Josephine.
"What sort of mercenary are you using?!" She yelled, then added, "Besides, one mercenary can’t save you today! If I kill you, I will destroy that..."
Jolie froze as ten more mercenaries materialized in front of Josephine, their golden armor gleaming.
"I wanted to fight you without using these guys," Josephine said, her voice calm and steady as more mercenaries began to appear, surrounding them on all sides.
"But you had to push your luck, so I won’t hold back."
"Return," she commanded the first mercenary.
BAM!
The mercenary’s sword smashed into Frederick’s weapon. The force of the attack threw him butt-first to the ground. He watched in terror as the mercenary raised its sword to cut him down, but just as quickly as it had appeared, it stopped and ran back to Josephine’s side.
"....?!"
Both mother and son stared at the twenty golden-armored mercenaries before them in pure shock and horror. One had been enough to deal with, but now there were twenty.
"You think I am scared of you!" Jolie roared, smashing the butt of her spear into the ground.
BOOM!
Countless glowing vortexes appeared behind her, and pillars of black bolts of light shot out from the hundreds of vortexes toward the mercenaries.
{Absolute Defense.}
BOOOM!
The attack slammed into a shimmering shield that had instantly formed before the mercenaries, not even leaving a single dent on any of them.
"No way?! Mercenaries don’t have such powerful skills!" Jolie muttered in shock.
"Let me guess, when Jade explained our mercenaries’ advantage, you didn’t believe her, right?" Nioh asked coldly, a smirk on his face.
"Forget that! I will burn my energy to kill you all!" Jolie screamed, as a dense amount of energy burst from her body, rippling all over the place.
"I will assist you, Mother!" Frederick’s eyes glowed white. A moment later, the World Destroyer trembled and came online.
"....??"
Josephine and Nioh turned to the ship, watching in shock as the drill at its front started spinning.
"Are you stupid?! Using it now will damage my city and kill almost half the citizens! If not all of them!" Josephine yelled.
"Your city?!" Frederick pointed a shaking finger at Josephine. "I will make sure you die here!"
BOOM!
"...?!"
Frederick turned to the World Destroyer, which had instantly powered down. The spinning drill slowed to a halt and went dark.
"What? Impossible! I am the only one who can control the World Destroyer!" he stammered.
"Who told you that?"
The mother-and-son duo turned to the castle, seeing a figure walking toward them. It was Star. Her purple sword rested on her shoulder, and she was covered in blood, her eyes pure white.
"You?! You?! How?!" Frederick stammered, his face pale with fear.
"I am Star, sister of God Wolf, and... I have the full strength of the artifact." She swung her sword, splashing the blood on it onto the ground.
"My soldiers?" Jolie asked in a shaky voice.
"They’re all dead," Star said simply. She then tilted her head to the side, staring at Josephine.
"Why are you still prolonging this conversation?"
"I wanted to attack, but this Queen just kept blabbering, exposing all the evil things she had done... I let her because I need proof," Josephine said, staring at the recording on her cosmic brain’s screen.
"With this, we can easily take over this nation without more bloodshed." She snapped her fingers.
"Take them hostage."
The twenty mercenaries drew their weapons and lunged toward Jolie and Frederick.
____
[Back To Sunny.]
Sunny stared at the countless missiles hurtling toward him from the enemy ships and exhaled.
"So annoying."
BOOOM!
Jade, Jinx, and the soldiers watched as the Warship exploded. Before their eyes. Moment next; Sunny shot out of the wreckage, heading toward the closest battleship. With a single punch, the battleship and the two soldiers inside it exploded into a shower of sparks and metal.
"....?!"
Everyone was stunned into silence.
"Impossible! How the hell can he breathe in space?!" Jade asked in shock.
"Yes... God Wolf isn’t wearing any armor, he shouldn’t be able to... Maybe he is holding his breath to deal with all of us?" Jinx asked, turning to Jade.
"That might be the case... If he is holding his breath, we will have to exhaust him!" She tapped the earpiece on her ear.
"Keep firing."
She gave the order, and all 500 Warships and 100,000 Battleships unleashed their full firepower on Sunny.
BOOOOM!
BOOOOM!
BOOOM!
"Even a Divine Rank warrior won’t survive so much of an attack without any armor," Jade said, staring at the smoke, which slowly dispersed, revealing...
"What the?! He is alive?!" She yelled in shock, seeing Sunny standing there in space, surrounded by a glowing golden energy barrier.
"I think you should attack now, we need to weaken him, fast!" Jade yelled, and turned to Jinx, only to find an empty space where she had been standing.
"Huh?"
She turned around, seeing Jinx sitting calmly on her command seat, her legs crossed. Even the crew in the warship were stunned.
"What are you doing?!" Jade yelled at her.
"We need to move and attack him! Otherwise, we will all die here!"
"Really?"
Jinx raised her hand and snapped her fingers. Instantly, the sixty people in the Warship lost all their powers and collapsed to the ground.
"You?!" Jade hissed, staring at Jinx in confusion. "Why did you use your skill on us?!" she yelled.
"Haven’t you figured it out yet?" Jinx frowned. Her body began to shift, and a moment later, a Xenon lady with purple hair appeared before everyone.
"You?!" Jade muttered, remembering the blue-skinned lady who had seen with God Wolf at the auction.
"Yes... me! Let me formally introduce myself!"
Jinx stood up, walked toward Jade, and crouched before her:
"My real name is, Jinx."
