Chapter 700 Single-Handed

The inspection platform.

Su Tiannan didn't act immediately after spotting the target. Instead, he slowly crawled forward and to the side.

On the side of the ancient castle, a black security guard waved towards a spot not far away: "Cars, we need cars, tell them to come over!"

Ruan Zheng Tan looked around and saw a forest not far ahead. It was quiet and dimly lit, perfect for hiding.

"Go there!" Ruan Zheng Tan shouted, pointing to the woods.

"No, no!"

A fat white man shook his head repeatedly, looking around with fear: "Who knows if there are enemies there!"

"Damn it, if you don't go, I will!" Ruan Zheng Tan cursed in his native dialect and started to run.

"Bang!"

The soldier next to him, not understanding what he was trying to do, immediately pushed him: "Quiet, quiet!"

On the edge of the inspection platform, Su Tiannan looked at the target below, within easy reach, but still didn't make a move, instead observing his surroundings.

Nearly two years of prison life had taught Su Tiannan that you had to wait to eat, you had to queue for washing, and even if someone was seriously ill, even if they might die in the next minute without treatment, they still had to wait for the approval procedures from above.

When he first entered the prison cell, he was often beaten by prisoners of different races, and he had to endure the seemingly endless passage of time. During that period, every minute and every second was torture for him.

This unusual experience had made him extremely patient and more calm. He knew he only had one life, and he couldn't fight everyone head-on; it wasn't worth it.

Ruan Zheng Tan had just been pushed down by the soldier when two cars drove up not far away. These must have been the vehicles they called to pick them up when they were escaping, otherwise they wouldn't have arrived so quickly, and they also perfectly avoided the attack location.

As the cars approached, Ruan Zheng Tan stood up and cursed: "A bunch of idiots, there must be an ambush outside!"

Now that the cars were here, the others no longer cared about Ruan Zheng Tan. They all got up and ran frantically towards the vehicles, as if afraid someone would steal their spot.

Just then, Su Tiannan raised his rifle, adjusted his breathing, and decisively pulled the trigger.

"Bang!"

The driver of the first car was killed instantly.

"Da da da...!"

Su Tiannan immediately knelt up, pressing his left hand on the gun body, and suddenly swept the area below where the soldiers were standing.

Why a sweep instead of precise aimed shots?

Because Su Tiannan's shooting skills were very average. During his time in Dragon City, he rarely touched this kind of automatic weapon, and he hadn't received professional shooting training. After entering prison, it was even more impossible to touch a gun, so his shooting skills were still at the level they were two years ago.

Since he couldn't reliably get headshots with single shots, he would just spray them as quickly as possible, using the volume of bullets to compensate for accuracy.

A row of bullets swept down, and three completely unprepared soldiers were riddled with holes on the spot. Two white officials from District One were also unlucky enough to be killed by stray bullets.

"Whoosh!"

After Su Tiannan finished firing, he jumped down from the two-and-a-half-story-high inspection platform, landing directly on the first SUV.

"Don't move!"

"No, don't move!"

"...!"

The remaining fleeing crowd all revealed their guns, pointing them at Su Tiannan on the roof with frightened expressions, shouting in various languages.

"Whirr!"

Su Tiannan flipped open his jacket with his left hand, revealing the explosive vest he was wearing, stepped next to Ruan Zheng Tan, and shouted in English: "I only want him! Everyone else, kneel down!! Kneel down!"

Everyone looked at the explosive vest in horror, momentarily stunned.

"Bang bang bang...!"

Su Tiannan showed no mercy, shooting the two closest people beside him, and shouted again in English, straining his neck: "Who dares to die?!! Who dares to shoot?! Kneel down!"

Yes, in this situation, no one dared to die, and no one wanted to care about Ruan Zheng Tan. Seeing that Su Tiannan was alone, they immediately exchanged glances, threw away their guns, and knelt on the ground.

"Clang!"

The car door was pulled open. Su Tiannan pulled the driver's corpse out with one hand, pointed the gun at Ruan Zheng Tan and said, "Take the handcuffs from my waist, handcuff yourself to the passenger seat, and sit in it."

Ruan Zheng Tan swallowed and, after a brief thought, immediately did as he was told.

"Vroom!"

Five seconds later, the SUV left the vicinity of the castle and headed straight for the woods on the left.

The vehicle sped through the muddy wetlands for hundreds of meters, then crashed through a small gate on the left and drove away.

In the car.

Ruan Zheng Tan wiped the sweat from his forehead, his expression not too panicked, but his face was a little pale as he asked in his native dialect: "You don't have a Burmese accent, are you from the Hua region?"

Su Tiannan held the steering wheel with one hand, and rested the other hand on his leg with the gun pointed at Ruan Zheng Tan's chest.

"I know why you didn't kill me. I'm the only high-ranking intelligence officer who came out. You want the thing in my hand, right?!" Ruan Zheng Tan asked in Mandarin.

Su Tiannan looked at him: "Can you hand it over?"

"Can I live?" Ruan Zheng Tan swallowed and asked.

"Are you negotiating with me?" Su Tiannan replied concisely: "You should be able to see that the order we received was not to retrieve the item, but to kill."

"Then why did you capture me?" Ruan Zheng Tan countered calmly.

"Because I want to earn merit." Su Tiannan said, without looking away: "Can you hand it over?!"

Silence. After a brief silence, Ruan Zheng Tan immediately replied: "Okay, I can give you the thing."

"Where is it?"

"It certainly isn't in the hands of outsiders; it's with my wife." Ruan Zheng Tan hesitated: "Go to the entrance of the community park on Carlton Avenue. I'll call my wife now."

Su Tiannan ignored him and took out his phone to dial a number.

"I won't live; I won't make this call!" Ruan Zheng Tan immediately grabbed Su Tiannan's wrist: "Otherwise, if the thing is with my family, their lives will be better."

Su Tiannan looked at him coldly.

Three seconds later, the call connected: "Hello?"

"I caught Ruan Zheng Tan, but he's badly injured." Su Tiannan immediately replied: "You guys go quickly to Carlton Avenue Park. I threatened his wife to hand over the intelligence Ruan Zheng Tan took from the district."

"Are you sure it's reliable?" The other party asked in a serious tone.

"Reliable!" Su Tiannan replied.

"Okay, I'll call you back in five minutes." The other party replied.

Su Tiannan handed the phone to Ruan Zheng Tan, saying concisely: "You're an old intelligence operative; you should be able to feel my mood. Don't play tricks, understand?"

Ruan Zheng Tan hesitated, then immediately took the phone and dialed his home number.

...

Inside an ordinary villa on the edge of town, a middle-aged man with his hands behind his back commented: "This guy Old Wang recommended is pretty good! His idea should be very clear; he wants to climb up!"
