Chapter 30 The Journey Begins Here

Chapter 17 A New Beginning

After a family banquet, the Su family had managed to submit a formal request for support to the upper echelons of the management committee, securing a temporary backer. As for how reliable this backer would be, that remained to be seen through ongoing interactions and observation.

With the smuggling case resolved, the four companies of the Su, Liu, Bai, and Kong families in the Zhanan district had long returned to normal, focusing on their work. Uncle Two, Su Tiannan, Su Tianbei, and Third Sister had also resumed their previous routines, busy with their own affairs.

Su Tianyu was temporarily unemployed, and the civil service examination application period for the year had ended while he was recovering from his injuries. So he stayed at home for two days, bored out of his mind, either reading or hanging out with Da Xiong.

Da Xiong came to the Su residence every night after work these days. He would even take Su Tianyu around Longcheng, showing him famous tourist attractions and snack streets.

Su Tianyu was well aware that Da Xiong was coming to the Su family every day just to catch a few more glimpses of Third Sister's silk stockings, and to become friends with him.

Su Zhengcai had also been observing Tianyu for the past few days. He had initially thought the boy would figure things out on his own, but after two days of inactivity, the old man finally couldn't hold back any longer.

One Friday evening, after dinner, Su Zhengcai sat in the gazebo in the yard, smoking a cigarette. He glanced at Su Tianyu and asked, "Six, how have you been thinking about that matter?"

Su Tianyu grinned and deliberately asked, "That matter?"

"Stop pretending! Are you going to work for the Yu family or not?" Su Zhengcai asked directly.

Su Tianyu scratched his head. "To be honest, I don't really want to work for a private company."

"Are you stupid? Yu Jinrong is at the deputy director level, and I heard he was transferred from the First District. People like that have strong connections. If you stay by his side for a year and do a good job, he can help you a lot when you apply for a civil service position next year," Su Zhengcai said with a frown.

Su Tianyu paused for a moment and retorted, "If he helps me that much, how am I going to repay him?"

Su Zhengcai was taken aback. "Ah, you've already thought deeply about this, haven't you?"

"I can pass the exam on my own," Su Tianyu said confidently. "But if I owe Yu Jinrong such a big favor before I even start working, then the Yu family will influence which department I get into."

Su Zhengcai pondered for a long time. "You're just like your father, always thinking three steps ahead! But you need to understand that many times, you haven't even taken the first step yet. How do you know if you'll even have the chance to take the second or third step?"

Su Tianyu blinked and looked at his second uncle with some surprise.

"Taking the civil service exam, finding a good unit, a good backer, that's a faster start than anyone else! You may be very capable, but what's the use if no one appreciates you?" Su Zhengcai said bluntly, "Suppose you pass the civil service exam, and when it comes time for assignment, they just throw you out to sea to measure the salinity, or assign you to the Women's Federation to gossip with old women all day... If that happens, what second or third step are you talking about? It's straight to the last step, waiting to die!"

"You know, Second Uncle, what you're saying actually makes a lot of sense!"

"I've eaten more salt than you've eaten rice." Su Zhengcai yawned and said, "Kid, we have to live practically, seize the opportunities in front of us to have more opportunities."

"That's right." Su Tianyu was someone who could listen to other people's opinions, and he pondered for a moment. "Alright, I understand, Second Uncle!"

"Besides, I personally think that Yu Jinrong inviting you to work at his company at the dinner table was a bit abrupt." Su Zhengcai took a deep drag of his cigarette and said with a cunning look in his eyes, "Dog Six, maybe when you get to his company, he'll have other orders waiting for you."

"Second Uncle, you're really an old fox!"

"What the hell are you talking to?" Uncle Two glared.

"I've thought about what you said," Su Tianyu paused. "That's also why I'm a little hesitant."

"What do you have?" Su Zhengcai asked.

Su Tianyu blinked and grinned.

"Check your pockets, not a single penny. Check your crotch, you're so poor you only have a dick left, not even enough hair to be rich. What do you have to hesitate about?"

"Insightful!" Su Tianyu gave a thumbs up.

"That's settled then!" Su Zhengcai stood up and said with his hands behind his back, "I'm going to rest!"

As soon as he finished speaking, Da Xiong, looking like a bear, walked in from outside and shouted, "Li...Little Yu bro...Have...Have you eaten?"

"Hehe, not yet!" Su Tianyu turned his head.

Just as Da Xiong walked in, Bai Hongbo also walked in from outside, jingling his car keys and saying, "Tianyu, let's go, I'll take you out for a spin!"

Bai Hongbo had also come by a couple of times in the past few days. His company was revising the contracts for temporary workers, and he had heard that Su Tianyu had given the advice that quickly appeased the workers before, so the kid had been coming to extract knowledge recently and had become quite familiar with Dog Six.

Su Zhengcai looked at Su Tianyu's two friends and sighed with a frown, "Damn it, playing with these two every day, how can anything good come of it?!"

Bai Hongbo looked up at Su Zhengcai and teased him in a boisterous manner, "Grandpa, you've been doing well lately, right? My dad's been a bit weak since he got back, sweating a lot, so I just got him some deer antler to replenish his energy. I'll send you some later!"

"Tell your dad to suck on it, I don't eat that stuff!" Su Zhengcai didn't bother to talk to Bai Hongbo and turned to go back to his main room.

Bai Hongbo bent down and sat down, pulling out a contract from his bag and saying, "Come on, take a look at this template for me."

Su Tianyu smiled, reached out, and took the template to examine it.

That night passed uneventfully.

...

The next morning, Su Tianyu got up early and ran three laps, then washed up, put on a suit that Third Sister had bought him, sat on the bed, and dialed the number on the business card.

"Hello!"

"Is this Mr. Yu Mingyuan?" Su Tianyu asked.

"Yes, it is. And you are...!"

"Oh, I'm Su Tianyu from the Su family, earlier...!"

"Ah, ah, ah, my dad told me about you!" Yu Mingyuan replied enthusiastically. "Boss Hired, right!"

"Haha, we chatted a bit that day!"

"I'm at the company now, just come over directly, I'll send you the address." Yu Mingyuan said proactively, "After you arrive, have someone downstairs take you to my office!"

"Okay, okay, thank you!"

"You're welcome, let's talk when we meet!"

"Then, that's it!"

After saying that, the two ended the call.

Su Tianyu stood in front of the mirror, carefully straightened his clothes, and then resolutely turned and left.

Outside, the sun was shining brightly, and a warm breeze was blowing. Su Tianyu strode towards the taxi stand at the end of the street.

On this day, Su Tianyu officially set foot in Longcheng, beginning a new chapter in his life!

A great era was rolling in.
