Chapter 265 Going Home

Chapter 101 The Counterattack Begins

Over the ranch, Su Tianyu and Li Mingsheng were considered completely rescued once the three helicopters from the Riot Control Team arrived.

The equipment of armed helicopters and small reconnaissance aircraft is completely different. One is responsible for reconnaissance and search, while the other is a killing machine specially built for war and small-scale operations. The attack capabilities of the two are not on the same level at all.

Rotary machine guns, combined with airborne shells, devastated the off-road vehicle convoy below, which was like a target. Immediately afterward, the Riot Control Team members fast-roped down from the armed helicopter, quickly cleared the scene, killed more than ten people on the spot, and arrested six or seven.

After the Riot Control Team arrived, Su Tianyu no longer needed to risk his life. He rushed to Li Mingsheng's side as quickly as possible and asked with concern, "Chief, are you okay? Come on, I'll carry you!"

Li Mingsheng didn't say anything, just heavily patted Su Tianyu on the shoulder, signaling him to take him to the plane.

Su Tianyu got excited at this time, carrying Li Mingsheng and sprinting all the way to the helicopter that had just landed.

A junior officer saluted Li Mingsheng and shouted, "Mayor, we have received an order from the headquarters to carry out the mission of sending you back to the city."

Li Mingsheng was already exhausted and only managed to nod at the officer before being helped into the cabin by Su Tianyu.

After the two boarded the plane, Li Mingsheng took two breaths before ordering, "Bring the prisoners back alive and let your captain handle them. Let's go first."

"Yes!"

The officer nodded and entered the cabin, waving his hand and shouting, "Return to the city according to the original plan."

The sound of the air being torn apart rang out as the helicopter once again gained altitude and headed straight for Dragon City.

On the way, Li Mingsheng didn't know if he was tired or still fearful, but he didn't say a word or make any calls. He just sat there quietly, turning his head to look at the sky outside the plane, where the rising sun was just appearing.

In the rear of the cabin, Su Tianyu was not as deep as Li Mingsheng. While using the medical supplies given to him by the junior officer to treat his external injuries, he observed the direction the plane was moving.

During this period, Su Tianyu noticed several details: First, the direction the helicopter was flying was not the urban area of Dragon City, but the suburbs; second, the plane was taking detours the entire time, and the pilot had turned off the searchlights, navigation lights, and all equipment that could expose their position. They didn't even travel with the two planes that took off behind them.

All these details indicated that Li Mingsheng did not seem to be safe even on the plane. Jin Maohui's people were still doing their best to protect him, and the situation in the city was probably just as tense.

Sure enough, at around six o'clock in the morning, the helicopter landed at a training base in the suburbs of Dragon City. After Su Tianyu got off the plane, he glanced around and saw that the sign hanging on the main building read "Riot Control Special Operations Detachment Training Center."

Li Mingsheng's failure to return to the city immediately was enough to explain many problems.

The struggle was not over, and the killing intent had not completely disappeared.

Just as Su Tianyu was helping Li Mingsheng down from the plane, he saw twenty or thirty people walking out of the main building. Most of them were middle-aged men, some wearing riot control unit uniforms and others wearing suits and well-dressed.

"Mayor, are you alright?" Jin Maohui was the first to greet him.

"Are you injured?!"

"Oh, we were so worried!"

"…!"

A group of people surrounded Li Mingsheng, anxiously asking about the situation. Li Mingsheng looked disheveled, but the expression on his face was relaxed as he waved his hand at them, "It was extremely dangerous, but I still came back. It's alright now that I'm back. Let's go inside and talk. Let's go, let's chat inside!"

The crowd surrounded Li Mingsheng and walked into the main building.

After the crowd entered the building, the junior officer of the riot control unit immediately said to Su Tianyu, "There are doctors here. I'll take you to get a medical check-up first."

"Okay, okay!" As soon as Su Tianyu heard this, he understood that the other party was implying that he should not follow the big shots into the room to discuss matters, but should rest outside and avoid suspicion.

After the two exchanged a few words, the junior officer took Su Tianyu to an empty lounge and arranged for the on-duty doctor of the training base to examine him.

While being examined, Su Tianyu took out his phone and dialed his uncle's number again, "Hey, Second Uncle!"

"It's okay now, they're all taken care of. I'm giving a statement as a law-abiding citizen now…"

Su Tianyu slowly breathed a sigh of relief as he listened to his second uncle's full-bodied voice.

Another hour or so passed, and it was a little after six o'clock in the morning.

In the conference room on the second floor of the military base's main building, a doctor packed up his equipment and nodded to Li Mingsheng, "You have some external injuries, but they're not serious. You'll be fine after a few days of rest and IV drips."

"Thank you for your trouble." Li Mingsheng, who was lying in a chair with an IV drip, politely nodded to the doctor.

"You guys talk." The doctor smiled, picked up his bag, and left with his assistant.

Inside the room, the twenty-odd people sitting around the conference table all began to curse indignantly after seeing the doctor leave.

"Damn it! These bandits didn't have the intention to kill, but the people in the city have become restless." A middle-aged man raised his eyebrows and cursed, "It's fortunate that the Mayor is alright, otherwise, we would be too frustrated…!"

"Yes, we must retaliate!"

"The Riot Control Brigade, half of the City Council members, and people from the Police Department are all involved… Let's just take action directly!"

"…!"

At this time, those who could sit in this room and personally see Li Mingsheng were all his staunch supporters. Jin Maohui would not have called anyone with even a little bit of suspicious identity, so everyone's emotions were real.

For political factions, the highest leader is the spiritual leader of the team. If he falls, the faction will basically cease to exist.

Li Mingsheng waved his hand, and everyone immediately quieted down. Then, he asked Jin Maohui, "Have the identities of the desperadoes on the ranch been verified?"

"Yes, they have been verified. They are a group of armed men from the Casallo region, possibly with some connection to the Xue family who sold gold bricks." Jin Maohui replied, "I inquired about it, and it can basically be determined that this was done by the Republican Party and the Shanghai faction."

Li Mingsheng was slightly silent, then looked up and asked, "What is the situation with the Chi Army?"

"The Chi Army was prepared in advance and also arranged for a pick-up team, but they still suffered heavy casualties during the firefight. The data I just received shows that more than forty people were killed on the spot," Jin Maohui replied.

After a long silence, Li Mingsheng's eyes began to regain their brilliance, and he calmly instructed, "The City Council should contact the Propaganda Department to hold a press conference at around 1:30 p.m. tomorrow. During this period, you can communicate privately and appropriately release rumors that I have escaped."

"Yes!" A middle-aged man nodded.

"Jin Maohui, you call the airport and tell them that due to the frequent extreme incidents in Dragon City recently, you have received orders from the Municipal Government to supervise both the military and civilian airports, starting now."

"Yes!" Jin Maohui nodded.

"…!" Li Mingsheng sat on the chair and began his counterattack plan.

Dragon City urban area.

Secretary-General Lu got out of the car and walked quickly towards the small command center, holding a phone in his hand and saying, "Damn it, whether he's dead or alive, you have to give me a definite answer! What do you mean by missing, huh?!"
