Chapter 137 All Cautious People
The Dragon City Police Department compound was in complete chaos. Dozens of police vehicles with flashing lights and blaring sirens were moving in and out, crisscrossing the yard.
Wang Daolin finished his meeting upstairs and hurried down, leading seven or eight of his men towards the parking lot.
"Follow the normal procedure for the search." Wang Daolin handed the meeting notes outlining the search area to a nearby officer. "The higher-ups are getting anxious. Tell the brothers to put their current cases on hold and focus on their assigned areas."
"Understood!" the officer replied, nodding.
"Two things," Wang Daolin said to his men, his face expressionless. "First, don't provoke the garrison. Second, strictly adhere to the zone assignments for checkpoint duty. In short, if it's not your job, don't try to do it."
With those two simple sentences, his men fully understood Wang Daolin's meaning: go through the motions, but unless they personally caught the perpetrators, they should ignore everything else.
After giving his instructions, Wang Daolin's department officers left the compound in their vehicles to participate in tonight's emergency search.
...
Wang Daolin got into his own car, changed into plain clothes, and used a new phone to dial Su Tianyu's number.
"Hello? Uncle Wang!"
"Where are you?" Wang Daolin asked directly.
Su Tianyu blinked. "I'm in Huadu."
"...Speak like a human being!"
"I'm really in Huadu. I'm a high-level operative, handling things remotely." Su Tianyu clarified his position.
"Damn it, you better not offend me," Wang Daolin gritted his teeth. "I'm still pretty good at solving cases."
Su Tianyu paused. "Then... what do you want, Uncle Wang?"
"I'm coming to find you. I have something to discuss."
"Come outside the district, to the Second Defense Brigade, Third Regiment, First Company's garrison." Su Tianyu paused. "I'll wait for you there."
"Okay, I'll call you when I arrive."
"Okay, that's it."
After hanging up, Wang Daolin grinned and cursed, "Damn it, he's quick to run. He's already out of the city. Looks like the garrison is deeply involved."
...
Outside Dragon City, next to the First Company's garrison.
Su Tianyu said to Gang Shu, "I'm leaving Nick and the others to you. I don't care how you handle them."
"Thank you, Little Yu," Gang Shu said, extending his hand. "You helped me fix my mistake. I owe you one."
"Hey, we're family. No need for formalities!" Su Tianyu replied sweetly. "We might even be eating from the same pot in the future."
Gang Shu paused. "That depends on what the boss wants."
"Are you leaving first, or going back to District One via Sinaloa?" Su Tianyu glanced at his watch. "I'll handle the cleanup here."
"Okay, we'll head out first."
"See you in District One." Su Tianyu waved goodbye.
After the two finished talking, Gang Shu and the others left with Nick and his men as quickly as possible.
After watching them leave, Su Tianyu immediately called Yu Mingyuan. "I need to meet Wang Daolin. How much leeway do you give me?"
"What you say is what I say," Yu Mingyuan replied straightforwardly. "If there's no leeway, figure it out yourself."
That was exactly what Su Tianyu wanted to hear. He grinned like an idiot.
...
About forty minutes later, a car arrived near the company's garrison, but Wang Daolin didn't show his face. He only sent Su Tianyu a message: "Come find me by the river."
Su Tianyu deliberately tried to annoy him. "Don't be like that. We're already at the company's camp. You come here."
Wang Daolin replied impatiently, "Come my ass! Hurry up!"
Wang Daolin was a leader in the police force, how could he appear at the company's camp, a place where there were "many people and many eyes"? If he really went, wouldn't he be completely aligned with the Yu family? Clearly, one of the masterminds behind tonight's murder.
About twenty minutes later, a car stopped by the river. Su Tianyu got out alone and knocked on Wang Daolin's car window. "Come on down, Uncle."
"You come up here and talk!" Wang Daolin glared and shouted.
"Uncle, I heard that your police cars have law enforcement recorders that can record video and audio. I don't know if it's true." Su Tianyu leaned against the car and replied.
Wang Daolin was speechless. "You're a cautious one, huh?"
"I've been in the martial world for so many years, relying on being a coward." Su Tianyu replied with a smile.
"Slap!"
Wang Daolin slapped him. "Stand back!"
Su Tianyu smiled and walked along the river.
Wang Daolin got out of the car and followed, asking succinctly, "Gu Tongshan...?"
"Wait a moment, Uncle Wang!" Su Tianyu grinned, turned around, and ran his hands all over Wang Daolin's pockets, sleeves, and thighs.
"What the hell are you doing?!" Wang Daolin became a little agitated.
"I'm afraid you brought a law enforcement recorder..."
"Are you crazy?! Do you have to feel my back door?..."
"Better safe than sorry." Su Tianyu didn't care if the other party was anxious, he just kept feeling around. Because he knew what the two of them were going to talk about, and it wasn't easy to judge whether Wang Daolin could be tied to the Yu family at this moment.
A minute later, Wang Daolin stopped struggling. "Are you done feeling?"
"Yeah." Su Tianyu nodded.
"Give me a cigarette!" Wang Daolin frowned.
Su Tianyu took out a pack of cigarettes and handed it to him, lit it for him, and asked, "Do you want to feel me too?"
Wang Daolin took a deep breath and replied seriously, "Yes!"
After a little while, the two finished feeling each other up and walked along the river together.
"Was Gu Tongshan killed by you guys?" Wang Daolin asked.
"Gu Tongshan is dead? When did that happen?!" Su Tianyu asked in surprise.
Wang Daolin looked at his expression and immediately waved his hand. "Your acting is terrible! You guys pay more attention to Gu Tongshan than you do to your own fathers. He's been dead for so long, how could you not know?"
"Ah, I just remembered..."
"Don't try to fool me!" Wang Daolin stared at Su Tianyu. "Did you guys kill him?!"
...
Inside the district, in the morgue of the Longkou District Hospital.
Over twenty leaders from the Longkou District Mafia had arrived, over thirty elders from the General Association had come, and the henchmen from the Zha Nan District had practically blocked the hospital parking lot.
While the crowd was standing in the hallway, frequently exchanging words, Xu Hu squeezed his way to the front, stared blankly at the mortuary bed in the morgue, and after a long silence, suddenly roared, "Master! Master!!"
Xu Hu's cries echoed throughout the hallway. His body went limp as he rushed into the room, kneeling next to Gu Tongshan and blaming himself as he wept...
