Chapter 408 Clue
Jin Maohui and others sat opposite Su Tianyu, staring at each other with wide eyes, their heads buzzing.
Old Li said to apprehend the mysterious person who bombed Baolong Mining, but Gou Liuzi and Jin Maohui didn't have a single clue or lead at the moment.
The suspect's information was too scarce, and the case was still under the jurisdiction of the Police Department. Coupled with the current stance of the Violent Crime Task Force, it was impossible to share any useful information from them. So, for a time, everyone couldn't find a starting point and didn't know where to begin.
Inside the small conference room, everyone smoked, their expressions quite pained.
Jin Maohui picked up his teacup and took a sip, unable to resist asking, "Brother Xiaoyu, can you still get some information from the Police Department? We can spend some money!"
Su Tianyu scratched his head. "Aren't I waiting for news? Captain, you're also part of the judicial system. Don't you have any connections at the Police Department?!"
"I do, but it's not much help right now. Our relationship with them is so tense, and this case is so important. The regulatory committee won't let just any department interfere. At most, a small core group is investigating, so getting information is really difficult." Jin Maohui was also quite helpless.
Su Tianyu glanced at his watch. "Then let's wait. I know a technical person at the Police Department who's on the task force. He'll contact me if he has news."
"Okay."
Jin Maohui slowly stood up, paced around the room, and stood at the window, muttering anxiously, "Where did this little bomber come from now?"
...
Police Department.
Inside the Baolong bombing case task force office area, a middle-aged man with graying hair sat at the head of the conference table, listening to the reports from the members below.
This gray-haired middle-aged man was named Fei Zizheng. He was once a famous criminal case expert in the Dragon City Police Department, but due to disagreements with the previous director, he had been lying low for a while and was even transferred to a clerical department for more than a year. It was only after Director Lin took office that he was reappointed.
The task force members for this Baolong case were all personally selected by Director Lin and Director Guo. Apart from a small number of technical personnel transferred from local departments, the rest were all direct subordinates of the two, making them very reliable.
"Team Leader, the lead from the water delivery company is basically useless. The hijacked water delivery man can't provide any guiding information, and we've conducted interviews around the hijacking location, but there are no surveillance cameras or direct witnesses... Zero information to be excavated." After a middle-aged man finished speaking, he directly handed over his work report.
Fei Zizheng propped his chin, asking as if he hadn't woken up yet, "Did you investigate the rope used to tie up the water delivery man and the weapon used by the bandits?"
"We did. The rope is very old and doesn't have any special characteristics. It has obvious wear marks and has been soaked in water. We judge that it wasn't bought by the bandits temporarily. It was probably cut and stolen with a knife at that location. Everyone uses that kind of thing, so it's hard to trace the source." The middle-aged man continued, "Also, although the water delivery man mentioned the knife used by the bandits, it also doesn't have any special characteristics and we can't see the brand. Tracking that down would be like looking for a needle in a haystack."
Upon hearing this, Fei Zizheng slowly turned his head and "looked at another group. Are there any leads on the tools used to commit the crime?"
"No, there are no fingerprints of the bandits on the tricycle or the water buckets, and there is no surveillance video at the location where the bandits abandoned the vehicle." The leader of another group shook his head and reported.
Hearing this, Fei Zizheng lit a cigarette, stood up and looked at all the files and information, and said in silence for a while, "We must first figure out the social profile of the bandits. This case is not a simple shooting or homicide case that just any desperate person could do. Assembling explosives, installing timing devices, the amount of explosives used, and sealed preservation are all technical work!"
Everyone nodded upon hearing this.
"Soldiers? Demolition experts? People from outside the district with experience in private armed forces? And miners...!" As Fei Zizheng was looking at the photos and pondering, he suddenly heard footsteps outside the conference room.
Two technical personnel walked in. The one in the lead was holding a thick stack of newly printed materials. He looked up and said, "Team Leader, I have some leads!"
"In what area?"
"The explosion." The technical person stood next to Fei Zizheng, holding the report from the appraisal department, and said, "The technical department, based on the destructive power of the explosion at the scene and some of the wreckage found, speculates that the bandit's method of controlling the explosive device is very similar to...!"
...
One hour later.
Jin Maohui stubbed out his seventh cigarette and turned to look at Gou Liuzi, saying, "It's not going to work to just wait like this. Shouldn't we...!"
"Ding Ling Ling!"
A phone rang. Su Tianyu picked up his phone and glanced at it, then immediately stood up and said, "I'm going out to answer a call!"
After speaking, Su Tianyu trotted out of the conference room. After waiting for seven or eight minutes, he pushed the door open and returned.
"How is it?" Jin Maohui asked.
"There's news. Give me a few people. I'll follow up!" Su Tianyu said excitedly.
"Okay!" Upon hearing this, Jin Maohui immediately appointed his most capable Violent Crime Task Force captain to Gou Liuzi.
After a while, Su Tianyu led the elite of the Violent Crime Task Force, driving three relatively concealed civilian vehicles, to the Dragon City Mining Safety Administration.
The vehicles stopped, and Su Tianyu immediately pointed at Fei Zizheng, who had just arrived at the Safety Administration, and asked, "Do you recognize this person?"
"I do. Fei Zizheng from the Police Department. He's an old criminal investigator," the captain replied.
"We're going to keep a close eye on him. He's the head of the task force." Su Tianyu said slyly, "The Police Department has far more information than we do. If we can't find anything ourselves, we'll use them as a guiding light."
"I think that'll work!" The captain nodded, then asked puzzledly, "But what are they doing at the Safety Administration?"
Su Tianyu blinked. "Hard to say. Let's see first!"
Ten minutes later, inside an office in a department of the Safety Administration, Fei Zizheng said concisely, "I want to investigate the filing records of special talents in each district, specifically those with expertise in explosives."
"Okay." The other party nodded.
Fei Zizheng thought for a moment, frowned, and asked, "You don't have the records of tunnel blasting and old building demolition projects here, do you?"
"Of course not. We're in mining. Those are social engineering projects, not in the same system." The other party replied softly, "However, the personnel files for explosives experts are basically the same. Someone who can blast tunnels can definitely blast mines."
"That's not necessarily true." Fei Zizheng shook his head and turned to look at the other members of the team, saying, "You guys go to the Engineering Administration and investigate this aspect as well. If the information is incomplete, you can ask them to pull a list of companies with demolition qualifications, and we'll visit them one by one!"
"Okay!"
...
Somewhere in the city, the young man in the dark blue uniform was holding a bouquet of extremely bright flowers, walking quickly.
