Chapter 13 Fishing Two
Nao Nao was also startled and said aggrievedly, "I just wanted to feel it."
Teacher Lin was relieved to see that the child's hand wasn't hurt. She asked, "Xiao Jia, you said the fish is poisonous, can we still eat it?"
Although Teacher Lin lived by the sea, she didn't eat seafood often and wasn't familiar with fish.
Jia Wenjun reeled in the line while explaining, "The spines on the back of this fish are poisonous. If you get pricked, it will be painful and itchy. When preparing it, you have to remove the spines on the back and cook it thoroughly before eating. Even so, some people with sensitive constitutions may still have an allergic reaction."
"Xiao Jia is right. Although this mackerel is delicious, some people do have allergic reactions to it," said Old Man Wang as he put the 120g fishing rig into the water.
Teacher Lin's expression changed when she heard Old Man Wang say that. Seeing Nao Nao reach out to touch the fish again, she quickly stopped him. "Nao Nao, we can't touch it. You'll get poisoned if you get pricked."
"I'm not afraid. I won't touch its back." The little rascal struggled free from Teacher Lin, determined to touch it.
Old Hu had to watch the fishing rod and control this disobedient child. His temper flared up, and he roared at the child, "If you touch it again, I'll throw you into the sea, believe it or not?"
Nao Nao couldn't tell whether it was a threat or not. When he heard he was going to be thrown into the sea, he immediately burst into tears.
"Nao Nao, come to Mommy," Hao Jiening called to the child angrily.
The slap Hu Sisiang had given her had left only a faint red mark on her face. Of course, Hu Sisiang hadn't hit her hard, but Hao Jiening had lost face, and Hu Sisiang hadn't apologized, so the fire in her heart hadn't been extinguished. Seeing him yelling at the child again, Hao Jiening was afraid he would act recklessly again, so she quickly called the child to her side to protect him.
Seeing his mother coming, Nao Nao quickly ran over to complain, tearfully, "Daddy said he was going to throw me into the sea. I can't swim. I'll drown in the sea. Mom, do you not want me anymore?"
The child's cries grew louder and louder. Hao Jiening felt annoyed. She glared at Hu Sisiang while wiping away her fat son's tears. "Don't cry. Who said we didn't want you? If your dad dares to throw you down, I'll throw him down."
Gong Dalong winked at Jia Wenjun, signaling her to smooth things over and quiet down the couple and the little rascal. The gold master, Anna, was already annoyed by the crying.
Jia Wenjun wasn't stupid. Hao Jiening was holding back her anger, and whoever tried to mediate would be rebuffed. It was hard for an honest official to settle a family dispute. Why should she be a scapegoat peacemaker?
She pretended not to understand Gong Dalong's hint and turned to continue fishing.
Gong Dalong had no choice. The crying was affecting everyone. Old Hu and his wife were arguing and ignoring everything else. He was cursing inwardly, but he still smiled and said, "Dad can't throw you into the sea. The sea is still too cold now. You'll catch a cold if you go down. Nao Nao, you don't want Dad to get sick, do you?"
The little rascal blew a snot bubble, thought for a moment, and shook his head. "Don't want to."
This made Old Hu, who had been quite annoyed, freeze for a moment. He had just yelled at the child, but he didn't expect the child to not hold a grudge. He instantly deflated like a balloon, and all his anger disappeared. But he was embarrassed to immediately comfort the child.
"What a good child," Teacher Lin, who had worked as an educator her whole life, understood children's hearts best.
She sighed, "There's no such thing as an overnight feud in a family. Stop arguing and don't scare the child anymore. Children suffer the most when adults quarrel. They may not say it, but it will all show up in their personality later. Now is the period when the child's personality is being shaped. If you don't change your temper, it will really affect the child in the future, and you'll regret it too late."
Looking at Old Hu's family of three, Teacher Lin was actually thinking of herself.
She used to be strong in everything, and she had to argue with her old man about right and wrong, which led to frequent small quarrels every two days and big quarrels every three days. At that time, her son could only hide in the corner and silently shed tears while watching them argue.
If she had understood at that time that home was not a place to reason, but a place to love, then many things would not have become like this now.
Her old man could have left more peacefully and happily in those last few years, and he might have even lived longer because he was in a good mood. And she wouldn't have to live alone with her son, and now she has to face the endless loneliness of the rest of her life alone.
Her son would not have had so many bad childhood memories, and his relationship with her would not be so close now. Every time she called or messaged him, he would hang up after a few words.
Now that she thinks of her youth, she regrets it, so she doesn't want Old Hu and his wife to repeat her mistakes, and she doesn't want Nao Nao to experience the hardships that her son experienced.
After Teacher Lin spoke, Sun Jiaojiao and the others also chimed in with words of persuasion.
Hao Jiening didn't want to argue with Hu Sisiang anymore for everyone to laugh at, so she went down the steps that everyone had built, and her tone finally softened a lot.
Sun Jiaojiao handed a tissue to Hao Jiening, whose eyes were wet, and shouted at Hu Sisiang, who was still sitting there blankly, "I said, Old Hu, what are you still sitting there for? Hurry up and comfort your wife and children. What a good child. You're a big man, be more generous and stop sulking."
Even though Sun Jiaojiao had given him such an opportunity, Hu Sisiang was still concerned about saving face in front of everyone, so he still didn't go over.
Although Sun Jiaojiao hated Hao Jiening's temper tantrums and her way of educating her child, she looked down on men like Hu Sisiang. It takes two to tango, and the deterioration of family relationships is definitely not a one-sided problem.
Sun Jiaojiao didn't want this rare trip to be ruined by their family's crying, so she became angry and pinched Hu Sisiang's arm hard.
"Ouch, what are you doing!" Hu Sisiang jumped up.
"A woman is willing to live a good life with you, and you don't even appreciate it. You'll be happy when your wife leaves you and no one takes care of your child, right?" Sun Jiaojiao glared at him.
Sun Jiaojiao had a strong voice and spoke with her hands on her hips. Her curly hair made her look like a violent tigress. Although she wasn't as strong as Hao Jiening, not many men were willing to provoke her aggressive aura.
Hu Sisiang was just a bully at home. Facing Sun Jiaojiao's fiery offensive, plus the support of the others, he immediately cowered. He was about to say something soft to his wife when he heard an angry voice from the cabin, "It's so noisy! Can't you guys have some manners? Can't you shut up and be quiet?"
Everyone turned to look and saw Zhao Di, wearing slippers and hot pants, with heavy makeup and a furious expression.
"My livestream is either filled with the sound of you guys arguing or the sound of crying. Are you here to have fun or to attend a funeral?"
