Chapter 24 The Evening Banquet, Part Two
But she had no time to be angry. As soon as she returned to her cabin, she immediately used her laptop to log into her account and re-entered the live broadcast room.
The fans inside exploded the moment they saw her return, constantly asking her what had happened and if she was injured.
The previous live broadcast on her phone had stopped when the phone fell into the water, showing the light and shadow from below the surface. Everyone assumed Zhao Di had also fallen into the water. Seeing that she was alright, the top donor took the lead in sending gifts, saying it was to calm her nerves.
Zhao Di looked at the gifts raining down, dumbfounded. She instantly felt that dropping her phone was worth it. Just as Sun Jiao Jiao had said, the rewards added up would be enough for her to buy two new phones, with plenty to spare.
Even so, Zhao Di still embellished the story of how Jia Wenjun had deliberately knocked her phone into the water to her fans. Her aggrieved expression and pitiful appearance made the male fans want to crawl through the internet cable and give her a hug, and the voices cursing the old woman were endless.
While Zhao Di had become the target of public criticism in reality, she received endless comfort and unconditional support online. Looking at the bullet comments from those male fans saying they would stand up for her, Zhao Di finally perked up.
Outside, cheerful laughter and the aroma of meat wafted in. Zhao Di's stomach had been growling for a long time. She had barely eaten anything when boarding the ship in the morning for fear of seasickness, and had only eaten some biscuits and snacks for lunch. Now, smelling the meat, she was even more ravenous. But she had made harsh remarks when she came back, and if she just went out like this, wouldn't she lose face?
She was a famous blogger, not just any Tom, Dick, or Harry. She wouldn't lower her head to them for a bite to eat. Let them starve her if they had the guts!
Zhao Di sulked, pulled out her last packet of biscuits, and ate them slowly in the live broadcast room, chatting with her male fans as she ate.
No one outside seemed to remember to call Zhao Di, but Gong Dalong, as the property manager, had to consider the overall situation. If Zhao Di, with her fiery temper, complained directly to headquarters after returning, it would be enough to give him a headache.
With the idea of "harmony benefits everyone," Gong Dalong asked Lili to invite Zhao Di out to eat.
Lili went reluctantly, but was turned away.
Zhao Di was initially quite happy to be invited, but when she saw it was Lili, she suddenly changed her mind: She had humiliated her so badly earlier, and now she was sending a minion to invite her? Did they think she was so easily fooled?
If they wanted to invite her, they had to show some sincerity, at least get Jia Wenjun to apologize to her in person, otherwise, she wouldn't hesitate to call the property group headquarters and file a complaint.
Lili frowned and told Gong Dalong, who glanced at Jia Wenjun, who was busy grilling fish. After hesitating for a few seconds, he ultimately didn't mention the apology.
He knew Jia Wenjun's temper. She didn't easily make enemies, but once she did, it was a deadly feud that no one could resolve.
Besides, he still had a handle in Jia Wenjun's hands. He didn't want to push her. If this woman was driven too far, she might go for broke with him, and no one would benefit.
After thinking it over, he could only apologize himself. Didn't Zhao Di just want someone to fawn over her? Fine, he would do it. What was he, the property manager, for if not to suck up to the owners?
Bai Ma Shan, who was sitting next to Gong Dalong when Lili told him about it, glanced at Gong Dalong's back and put down his chopsticks.
Zhao Di was laughing loudly with her fans when she heard a knock on the door. She deliberately stalled before opening it.
Gong Dalong waited outside for five or six minutes before the door finally opened. Zhao Di's face, heavily made up again, appeared in the doorway. Seeing Gong Dalong standing outside, her eyebrows furrowed. "Where's that old woman?"
Gong Dalong grinned and chuckled. "What old woman? Everyone on this ship is a great beauty, especially you, the most beautiful of all the beauties."
"Tch, don't say those useless things, I don't fall for that." Despite her words, the frown on Zhao Di's face finally eased.
"If you don't fall for that, how about a barbecue set? We've been preparing food outside, and I came to invite you as soon as we finished. Hurry up, the meat won't taste good when it's cold."
Gong Dalong reached out to pull her as he spoke.
Zhao Di shrank back. "That old woman deliberately knocked my phone into the sea today. She cares about money more than anything else, and if she doesn't want to pay for it, she has to apologize to me, otherwise, it won't extinguish the fire in my heart."
Jia Wenjun insisted it was an accident, and with so many people testifying for her, Zhao Di probably wouldn't win even if she sued her. After thinking it over, she couldn't just swallow this loss. Jia Wenjun had to apologize and submit to her.
Gong Dalong cursed Zhao Di inwardly as a troublemaker, but he still smiled. "I say, Miss Zhao, I'm her superior, and now I'm apologizing to you in person. Isn't that a higher level of apology than if she came? Come on, come on, I'm now solemnly apologizing to you. Our property management didn't do our job properly, making you angry and upset. We'll improve next time. You're beautiful and kind-hearted, and you're generous, so don't hold it against us. Hurry up and go out to eat, or you'll be hurting yourself if you get angry and hungry, right?"
"That doesn't count. I'm not hungry, I have all the time in the world to wait for her to come and apologize to me." As soon as Zhao Di finished speaking, her stomach rumbled loudly.
"See, you're not hungry, but your stomach is. Let's go, let's go."
Just as Zhao Di was about to say something, she saw Bai Ma Shan walking towards her.
Thinking of how he had lost his temper with her today, she immediately felt angry again: Who did he think he was, yelling at her?
Zhao Di assumed that Bai Ma Shan was here to pick a fight again, and was ready to start cursing, but unexpectedly, Bai Ma Shan immediately bowed to her. "I'm sorry, Xiao Zhao. I was a little impatient just now, and my attitude towards you was excessive. I sincerely apologize to you now."
This action stunned not only Zhao Di but also Gong Dalong.
But Gong Dalong was an old hand at this, and seeing someone helping, he quickly pushed the still-stunned Zhao Di. "See, Director Bai has personally apologized to you. We're all owners, so let's each take a step back and let this matter pass."
Zhao Di didn't expect Bai Ma Shan to apologize to her so sincerely. Although this slap-and-a-carrot approach made her feel uncomfortable, the other party was at least a well-known figure in the community. Now that he was bowing his head and admitting his mistake, Zhao Di instantly swelled with pride, and the anger in her heart disappeared.
Everyone on the deck was seated around the long table. After being personally invited by Manager Gong and Director Bai, Zhao Di finally regained her prestige and walked out proudly with her live broadcast equipment, a GoPro.
Although she knew that the women on the ship didn't like her, it didn't matter. She, Zhao Di, wasn't here to make friends. It was more satisfying to outshine these old women than anything else. Thinking this, she gracefully sat down between Gong Dalong and Bai Ma Shan, who were escorting her.
