Regret youthful ignorance
Chapter 80 Harmony is Precious?
"If there were hundreds of you, I'd actually have to think about it."
Chen Luo sneered.
Just then, a voice came from Chen Luo's camp.
"Harmony is paramount. Just give them some things and let them leave."
Chen Luo's expression changed, as did Shu Yun, Chen Guang, and the others.
Chen Luo turned around and found that the one who had spoken was Zhang Jingjing, standing in the front row.
The difference in numbers between the two sides wasn't that great to begin with, and the other side looked like they were ready to fight to the death. Zhang Jingjing, standing at the front, was terrified.
If a real fight broke out, she could very well be killed.
In her opinion, if they could be sent away with food, why engage in a life-or-death battle?
She thought she was right, so she whispered that sentence.
Sun Dawei laughed loudly: "This little beauty is right, we don't want much. Just two thousand *jin* (approximately 1000 kilograms) of rice. If there isn't enough rice, flour will do. Some water, and some other food. That's all."
The people behind Sun Dawei echoed him.
"The girl is kindhearted."
"We really have no choice. We'll pay you back when we get some in the future."
Chen Luo stared intently at Zhang Jingjing, who became somewhat frightened by his gaze.
Chen Luo slapped Zhang Jingjing across the face and said coldly, "Who do you think you are? Do you have a say here?"
It would be one thing if a younger member of the group, not understanding the situation, interrupted the leader. But to actually speak up for the other side?
Everyone else was quietly waiting for Chen Luo's orders. Did she really think her identity was special?
Half of Zhang Jingjing's face swelled up, and she fell to the ground, wailing in pain.
Zhang Jingjing's father couldn't hold back any longer and rushed over to scold Chen Luo: "Was my daughter wrong? There are so many of them. How can a fight be good?"
"There are several villas full of supplies. Taking some out to avoid casualties for everyone, isn't that a good thing?"
"Making your men risk their lives for a little bit of supplies, what kind of heart do you have?"
Mi Li came over to try to help Zhang Jingjing up, but Zhang Jingjing pushed her away.
Zhang Jingjing sobbed, "Don't pretend to be nice. You and Chen Luo secretly ate delicious food at noon, without including anyone else, not even me. And I always thought of you as a friend."
"I'm standing in the front, and you're standing in the back, probably laughing at me."
Mi Li felt sad. She didn't obtain the supplies, nor did she have the right to decide. Besides, Zhang Jingjing had only just arrived.
Mi Ling shook her head, sighing inwardly. With Chen Luo's personality, you're probably finished.
Chen Luo's face was a bit unsightly. He had saved her, she was eating his food and drinking his water, and yet she was saying these things that disturbed morale.
How had she managed to survive until now?
Her naivety was pathetic, especially Zhang Dongcheng, who had lived so long for nothing.
If this group of people could be completely sent away with food, would Chen Luo begrudge eight thousand tons of rice?
After initially getting angry, Chen Luo calmed down. What kind of people hadn't he seen in his previous life?
Chen Luo shook his head. Some people could be saved, while others shouldn't be saved.
Temporarily not bothering with the Zhang Dongcheng father and daughter, Chen Luo turned around and said with a chuckle: "Sorry for the embarrassment."
Sun Dawei chuckled: "I heard about several villas worth of supplies. I'll just take one villa's worth. That's not too much, right?"
Chen Luo chuckled and said to the dozen or so people from the other convoy: "What about you? You want supplies too, right?"
The young man leading the group saw that Chen Luo was talking and laughing casually, not panicking at all, and an odd feeling arose in his heart. He quickly waved his hand and said with a smile:
"Big brother, we're just here to see if there's a place to settle down. We still have some supplies. We definitely don't mean to threaten you. Since the villas are full, we'll leave now."
After the young man finished speaking, he really did lead his people away.
Sun Dawei watched the young man leave, cursing under his breath. What a coward.
Sun Dawei said impatiently: "Are you going to give it or not?"
Chen Luo's expression remained normal, and he had already condensed an enhanced version of the Space Orb in his hand.
Chen Luo said with a smile: "I'll give it, I'll give it to you now."
In the early stages, space-type abilities, under the same level, although not as high in damage as fire-type or lightning-type, the power of space is invisible and colorless, unlike fireballs and lightning that have obvious colors.
It was really a home-invasion weapon of choice.
"A Level Two Awakened One, how awesome. I'm so scared. Let me give you a little something to try first."
When Sun Dawei and his group first arrived, they were shouting that Sun Dawei was a Level Two Awakened One.
With a "bang," Chen Luo's enhanced version of the Space Orb directly caused Sun Dawei's head to explode.
Sun Dawei only saw Chen Luo's hand gesture. In less than a second, he was ambushed and killed.
At least, that's what he thought: that Chen Luo had ambushed him.
Several cries of alarm.
Sun Dawei died with his eyes wide open. None of the people on his side had expected Chen Luo to suddenly attack and directly kill Sun Dawei.
He was the most powerful person on their side, but he was instantly killed.
They had witnessed Sun Dawei's power before.
Seeing Chen Luo make a move, Mi Li didn't have time to care about Zhang Jingjing and applied defense-enhancing buffs to the meat-type Awakened Ones standing in the front.
Chen Luo waved his hand and said: "If they don't want to live, then let's grant their wish."
Su Dazhu took the lead. As a Level Three Awakened One, with Mi Li's buffs, he was not afraid of these Level One Awakened Ones at all.
Mi Ling followed behind Su Dazhu.
Those standing at the front were all Level Two Awakened Ones from Chen Luo's side. To be honest, they were a little afraid.
But Chen Luo had said that the consequences would be severe for anyone who retreated during the battle.
Chen Luo really didn't hesitate to kill people.
No one dared to retreat.
Besides, they were sure to win the battle.
Everyone followed and charged forward.
In just one exchange, seven or eight people on the other side were killed.
The remaining people, a few mustered their courage and attacked Su Dazhu, but they saw that Su Dazhu had suffered a little minor injury, but it seemed as if nothing had happened. Instead, he continued to slash with his steel rod even more furiously.
In a short amount of time, Sun Dawei and his group collapsed. They had no backbone, and even less strict orders.
When disaster struck, they all scattered and ran, because not running meant death.
Seeing this, Chen Luo sneered. He really thought they weren't afraid of death?
Had they not eaten for a day? Or, in Mi Ling's words, had they eaten before a day ago?
Two or three years after the apocalypse, survivors who were constantly hungry were truly willing to risk their lives for food. Not risking their lives meant starving to death.
But these people had only been hungry for a day, and they were far from being truly willing to risk their lives. Putting on a fearless front was purely to scare people.
There was once a person who fought Chen Luo, the Void Monarch, for a sausage. That was what it really meant to be willing to risk one's life.
Other than Su Dazhu suffering a minor injury, everyone else was unharmed.
Zhang Jingjing and Zhang Dongcheng were dumbfounded. They had thought it would be a bloody battle, but who would have thought it would be so easy? No wonder Chen Luo didn't back down at all.
If they hadn't spoken out earlier, perhaps nothing would have happened.
