969: Chapter 277 Xuanting 969: Chapter 277 Xuanting Qing didn’t know the history of this world.
He didn’t know if there had ever been a Buddha, but there definitely was a Buddha Mother Daming King Bodhisattva, who, quite unluckily, was also a peacock.
However, this Bodhisattva wasn’t from the Buddha World but from the period of the Heavenly Court or even earlier, emerging from the Phoenix Clan.
The first time Qing heard of her was within Feng Zhong, where the Buddha World, borrowing the canon of the Buddha Mother Daming King Bodhisattva, had attempted to forcibly seize Yun Li’s dead body to create a false Bodhisattva!
Looking at it now, it seemed that the Buddha World’s fixation on the Buddha Mother wasn’t a matter of a day or two.
To enter Guiwang Mountain to steal the Buddha mother relics was a plan that must have taken a long time to concoct.
Was the total lack of guards on Guiwang Mountain a tactic of the Buddha World, or the reason why Guiwang Mountain allowed Qing to wander freely?
Anyway, Qing didn’t lose out on this visit.
The conditions to open the relic had been erased by the monk, who at the moment had his Demon-Subduing Pestle stuck on the array of the Sharira Cave, forcefully breaking the array.
The aura of the relic had already leaked out, and melodious bird calls resounded.
This peacock’s cry was different from Qing’s howling, and unlike Yun Li’s crispness, it carried a trace of Buddha chant—authentic Buddha chant different from the Buddha World and from Gujing Pavilion, more ancient and pure.
It was ethereally like a valley.
Just listening to this sound alone would cleanse the soul.
While this peacock was alive, she must have been a monk of high virtue.
The mere relic contained such merit that it was enough to make the entire Buddha World shame-faced.
Qing approached cautiously, and the moment Monk Kuran broke the array, revealing a flash of surprise and delight in his eyes, Qing’s turtle claw stepped down.
A sudden North Underworld Vortex appeared beneath Monk Kuran’s feet, dragging him down toward the depths where beneath the North Underworld, another layer existed—Taiyuan!
Unable to use the Mountain Divine God Seal anymore, Qing could now barely be considered a Greater Power.
The standard for Greater Powers: If you miss a Divine Skill once, you never miss it again.
Once a move has been used, it becomes useless.
This logic also applied to Qing now.
Earlier, when the Mountain Divine God Seal blasted the monk, it was blocked by the Buddha light on him and didn’t hurt him at all.
That Buddha light wasn’t the monk’s; it had a somewhat familiar essence to it and was a tactic of the Big Freedom Bodhisattva.
The Buddha light couldn’t be broken with Divine Skills, only with close-quarters combat, pure brawling—at most combined with the Gluttonous Eating Method, there was a chance to tear it apart.
Qing’s flesh body had been soaked in the Buddha World’s Buddha Force and blessed by the Buddha’s Outer Garment, along with the identity of Gujing Pavilion Buddha’s Son, making him the most adept at breaking Buddha light!
At this moment, the distance was too far; offensive Divine Skills were useless.
He could only use Divine Skills related to confinement and restriction, like the North Underworld combined with Taiyuan!
The North Underworld that appeared this time was entirely different from the previous pure streams of water vortex, with thunder flickering within, enhancing its power.
Taiyuan bearing no visible changes, remained as unfathomably deep as ever.
As soon as the North Underworld appeared, it caught Monk Kuran in the middle, instantly pulling him away from the cave and toward Taiyuan.
Monk Kuran was startled but not panicked.
Instead, his face relaxed as if he had been relieved.
He laughed, “I have been waiting for Friend He to show up!”
With a stomp of his foot, he was enveloped in a golden light, turning into pure gold, suppressing everything.
Standing in the North Underworld Vortex, he was as immovable as a boulder.
Knowing there was a Dragon Turtle in Fenbao Rock, how could he not have considered countermeasures?
He steadied himself, and with a flash in his eyes, he tore off his kasaya and spread it downward like a big canopy, once again covering Taiyuan.
“This canopy was created specifically for the Dragon Turtle and Taiyuan by the Bodhisattva!” He said with a smile, “Friend He, this poor monk has been waiting a long time for you!”
His voice carried through the North Underworld.
His eyes shimmered with a golden light as he scanned his surroundings.
Then a voice came through: “Then you’ve waited too early!”
With that voice, the Dragon Turtle emerged, crashing towards the cave.
The snake body on its back flickered as it lunged for the Buddha mother relics.
Taiyuan and the North Underworld were merely a feint; the Dragon Turtle’s real target was the Buddha mother relics!
Monk Kuran’s mouth curled into a hint of mockery: “I knew you coveted our Buddhist treasure!
How could you get your way so easily!”
Laughing, he made a hand seal with one hand, and before the stalagmite, a bowl suddenly appeared, emitting a humming sound and ramming towards Qing.
Caught off guard, Qing couldn’t dodge in time.
The dragon head retracted, and the turtle shell collided head-on.
Thump!
There was a muffled sound.
Qing was pushed back ten paces, stars in his vision, and saw the monk retracting his kasaya into a rope-shape, whipping it forward, severing the North Underworld Vortex and darting toward Qing in a flash.
Monk Kuran’s face flickered with Buddha light, resembling a Laughing Monk, with eyes seemingly asking, “How about this ambush?
It wasn’t just the Dragon Turtle that could ambush!
The bowl was left there as a precaution against this very move.
The monk began to laugh heartily, “Does the Dragon Turtle accept defeat?”
With that, his kasaya transformed into a large net aiming for Qing, thinking he would not only obtain the Buddha mother relics that day but also capture a Dragon Turtle which might even be converted by the Bodhisattva into a Dharma Protector Divine Beast!
As he rejoiced, casting the net, he saw a flash of light in the Dragon Turtle’s eyes: “You’ve rejoiced too early!”
An ambush!
The monk’s heart chilled; he put his kasaya in front of him and swiftly retreated, only to feel a sharp pain in his calf and when he sharply looked back, he saw a pitch-black Spirit Snake spring out from Taiyuan.
It bit his knee, its head marked by a flash of a Gluttonous Dragon Head.
Crack!
Half of his leg was gone, taken by the Spirit Snake which wrapped around it and dived into Taiyuan, which then disappeared without a trace.
Monk Kuran cried out in pain, turning towards Qing with shock and anger.
Despicable!
The Dragon Turtle could not have accurately foreseen his ambush; this was the Dragon Turtle’s innate love for scheming, setting up one trap after another before striking.
The monk was shocked and enraged when he heard the Dragon Turtle’s voice ahead, “Who’s the hunter and who’s the hare?
Who can tell until the end?”
