Chapter 43 Begging for Life

Chapter 11 A Choice Between Man and Ghost

Wang Family's Ancestor stared intently at me and Old Liu, his face twisted in a ferocious snarl. "Kill! Kill all these unfilial wretches. Display their heads as a warning, so everyone can see the fate of those who defy their elders!"

Old Liu Tou suddenly knelt. "Old Ancestor, spare their lives! They are still young!"

Old Liu Tou was still soft-hearted.

The Wang Family's Ancestor gritted his teeth. "You deserve to die too!"

"You're the one who deserves to die!" With a roar, I unleashed Bai Zhou (White Day) from my hand. The bright blade transformed into a wheel of light, sweeping towards my opponent's throat as it spun through the air.

The Wang Family's Ancestor merely sneered, his body floating backward, maintaining a distance of less than three inches from the approaching blade.

He was waiting for my blade's momentum to dissipate, seizing the opportunity to counterattack.

But I pursued the spinning Bai Zhou (White Day), lunging towards my opponent. The Wang Family's Ancestor instantly accelerated, using his Yin energy to propel Bai Zhou (White Day) backward. With a sudden turn, he deviated from his original position, and Bai Zhou (White Day), meant to kill ghosts, struck the tombstone behind the Wang Family's Ancestor with a muffled thud.

The three-inch-thick tombstone snapped in two under Bai Zhou's (White Day) force. The Wang Family's Ancestor kicked the broken stone, sending the remaining half, roots and all, flying away, pinning Bai Zhou (White Day) in the distance. The ghost turned to face me with a sinister laugh. "You think you can kill me with a mere thrown blade?"

"I have another blade! Take this!" Zi Ye (Midnight) in my hand unsheathed instantly without warning. The dark Zi Ye (Midnight) was a darling of the night. My opponent only heard the sound of the blade in the darkness, seeing no light, unaware of where the deadly, soul-reaping blade would appear.

Seeing my left hand rise swiftly, the Wang Family's Ancestor instinctively turned to his right, but he didn't expect the true Zi Ye (Midnight) to be held in my right hand. The sharp blade tore open the ghost's abdomen, and Zi Ye (Midnight), illuminated by the phosphorescent light, revealed its true ferocity.

After Zi Ye (Midnight) ripped apart half of his opponent's body, the blade spun in my hand. The blade moved upward, tearing through the Wang Family Ancestor's forehead, bursting out from the back of his head. I brushed past him as I retrieved my curved blade, reaching down to pick up Bai Zhou (White Day) from the ground.

As I held the black and white ghost blades, the Wang Family's Ancestor's vengeful soul exploded, scattering phosphorescent fire like spilled water down the mountainside. I stepped through the flames and charged down the slope!

Zhao Zhuang, who had descended the mountain before me, knelt neatly by the water's edge with several sorcerers, repeatedly kowtowing towards the water. "Granny, save us! Come out and save us!"

Zhao Zhuang's only hope now was the woman in the water.

I watched as the five ghostly figures chasing Zhao Zhuang and the others seemed to be held back three meters away by some unseen force, unable to advance any further, and I stopped in my tracks.

I wanted to know what would happen between them.

Zhao Zhuang's forehead was stained with blood, but he didn't dare to stop. "Granny, please! Your spirit talismans can't hold them back any longer, please save us!"

The woman's voice emerged from the water, cold and clear. "Our deal is based solely on results. If you can't provide what I want, why should I help you?"

Zhao Zhuang kowtowed repeatedly. "Granny, please have mercy! We'll do anything if you save us!"

The woman repeated, "I told you, I only care about the results. I don't need you to do anything else except provide the results I want. Do you understand?"

"But..." Zhao Zhuang was about to say something else when several bursts of fire erupted from the ground behind him. The spirit talismans they used to block the ghosts had shattered.

The five ghosts stepped over the flames on the ground, closing in on Zhao Zhuang. "You still dare to believe that woman? If it weren't for her, how could so many people have died in Fish Basket Village?"

"We finally joined forces to force her to jump into the water, and you brought her back into the village!"

"For that alone, you deserve to die!"

With angry roars, the five ghosts grabbed Zhao Zhuang simultaneously, each seizing a limb and his neck, lifting him into the air.

They intended to tear Zhao Zhuang apart limb from limb.

Suspended in the air by the ghosts, Zhao Zhuang pleaded incessantly. "It doesn't matter if you kill me, but spare my children! They are still so young!"

Zhao Zhuang continued to plead, and my mind raced!

Should I save the man or kill the ghosts?

Saving the man, Zhao Zhuang was the leader of the young sorcerers, he would definitely know the most secrets. However, the secrets he knew were extremely limited compared to those held by the five ghosts.

Killing the ghosts, I only had two soul-chasing ropes. It was impossible to subdue all five ghosts at once. I could only choose two of them. No matter who I chose, Zhao Zhuang would be torn to pieces!

Before I could make a decision, the five ghosts exerted their strength simultaneously. A strange cracking sound came from Zhao Zhuang's limbs. In another second, his limbs would be dislocated. Even if I saved him, he wouldn't be able to get up for a while.

"Kill!" Without thinking, I released both blades at the same time. Two wheels of light, one bright and one dark, flew past the ghosts with lightning speed. Five ghostly hands, five heads, flew into the air almost simultaneously, and five humanoid flames of phosphorus exploded at the same time!

As Bai Zhou (White Day) and Zi Ye (Midnight), now stained with a green glow, returned to my hands, the woman in the water exclaimed in surprise, "What a highly skilled Yin-Yang sorcerer! So you didn't use your full strength at the village entrance!"
