Chapter 1397: Chapter 1397: The Nominal Wife
“What nonsense are you spouting again?!” Old Master Summers raged, “Others are clamoring for the chance to study abroad. How could I possibly harm my own son?!”
“Ha, that’s not certain.” Janelle Roberts sneered, “After all, you never lack sons. Whenever you want one, there’s always a woman ready to give birth for you.”
As she spoke, she cast a glance toward Atra Blanc, and her meaning was unmistakable.
“Janelle Roberts!” Old Master Summers shouted her name, his fury at its peak, “I see you don’t want the alimony anymore!”
Although she was just a wife in name, Janelle Roberts still received alimony from the old master every month. Otherwise, why would she behave?
In the past, whenever she caused trouble, threatening with alimony had always been effective. But this time it didn’t work.
Janelle Roberts said, “My son is about to be kicked out of the Summers Family, what good is a little alimony to me!”
“You’re simply insane! Get out of here! It’s pointless talking to a madwoman like you!”
Janelle Roberts stood up with a nonchalant smile, “Fine, I’ll leave. But I’ve said my piece. You dare send my son abroad, and I’ll tell everyone outside that at your age, you’re still not content and have kept a young affair partner! Hoping to have a child late in life!”
“GET OUT!!!” Old Master Summers roared.
Janelle Roberts walked out in her high heels.
Atra Blanc brought warm water and pills to Old Master Summers, assisting him in taking the medication, and soothing his chest.
“Master, calm down, don’t get angry,” Atra Blanc softly consoled.
Old Master Summers closed his eyes, slightly calming his breath, “You should leave too.”
Atra Blanc hesitated for a moment, knowing the old master wanted to be alone, she advised, “If you’re feeling unwell, ring for me.”
Old Master Summers silently waved his hand, and Atra Blanc left.
She hadn’t walked far before seeing Janelle Roberts and Clyde Summers at the stairway corner.
Janelle Roberts said, “Clyde, rest assured, the old man won’t dare send you abroad unless he doesn’t care about his reputation! I’ll risk everything to keep you here!”
Clyde Summers smirked, “Risk everything? There’s no need.”
“I was with him since I was nineteen, and now that my child is grown, he wants to kick us out, not a chance!” Janelle Roberts huffed, “He promised me you’d inherit the family business, that’s the only reason I agreed to leave the Summers Residence. Otherwise, how could I have endured until now? If I don’t fight to the end, I won’t be called Janelle Roberts!”
Clyde Summers laughed, “You were never called Janelle Roberts.”
Janelle Roberts was momentarily speechless, glaring at Clyde Summers. Although he was her biological son, he never felt close to her.
“Enough, just go.” Clyde Summers leisurely said, “Don’t really anger the old man into falling ill. I’ll find you if anything happens.”
“You haven’t forgotten my phone number, right?” Janelle Roberts asked him, still uneasy.
“Yes, I’ve remembered it.” Clyde Summers nodded, “Hurry and go.”
Janelle Roberts seemed reluctant to leave this place, looking back every few steps, but Clyde Summers had no intention of seeing her off, remaining as indifferent and unfeeling as ever.
Atra Blanc waited for Janelle Roberts to leave before daring to reveal herself, curiously asking Clyde Summers, “Did you call your mom over?”
Clyde Summers raised an eyebrow at her, his lips curled in a smile, and he simply watched her without a word.
Atra Blanc assumed he tacitly agreed, glanced around, and whispered, “Old Master Summers is quite upset.”
“My mom is very good at throwing a fit,” Clyde Summers said with a calm smile, “Plus, she used to be a star and knows many reporters. The old man is most afraid of her running her mouth outside.”
Atra Blanc felt awkward, thinking, is there any son who would speak of their mother throwing fits…
However, she genuinely felt that Clyde Summers was truly impressive. Compared to him, she felt like a clueless child.
