Chapter 943: Chapter 941: Dining
"Oh! It’s actually such a cozy house, I thought it was the real Eden Garden; I even read the relevant Chapters in the Bible before coming, didn’t expect my preparation to be of no use."
"Just as I didn’t eat anything on the way here, really thank you, senior."
"I wonder what tasty things can be eaten in such a special place..."
William’s words were not yet finished before he suddenly felt a distinct taste of blood seep into his mouth; as he was about to pronounce the next word, his entire tongue unexpectedly slipped out from between his lips.
Seeing the tongue about to fall to the ground, William quickly bent over to steadily catch it, narrowly avoiding dirtying the brown-striped wool carpet.
William shoved the tongue back into his mouth and when he attempted to speak again, his right hand promptly covered his mouth to maintain silence.
Shoes off,
he walked silently on the carpet towards the dining room in white cotton socks with gold letters "Smiling Hole" printed on the cuffs.
He reached out to adjust the solid wood chair in front of the dining table, equally soundless.
Seated, William recollected all the gentlemanly etiquette he learned in the Zion Alphabetic College and revised the details.
With exceedingly elegant and standard gestures, he tucked the napkin into his collar, sat upright, and waited for the food to be served.
Click! Turn off the fire.
A medium-rare lamb chop was placed at the center of the dinner plate, highlighted with rosemary leaves as garnish.
The man also fetched a bottle of red wine of unknown origin from between the cabinets, poured it into a goblet, and served it alongside the fragrant lamb chop.
It was only when he turned away that William caught a clear view of the man’s features.
A mature-looking man with character and depth, parted blond hair smoothed with hair wax, evidently meticulously groomed.
White striped plaid deep blue single-breasted suit, inside a white shirt and a sea-blue striped tie.
Seeing his features and in close proximity, William felt completely at ease, everything seemed very normal, as if he were truly visiting a friend’s house.
William’s nose could distinctly detect the inviting scent emanating from the food on the plate, even seeing the dancing proteins and twisting muscle fibers on the lamb chop, eager to taste this delicacy.
Yet, he firmly restrained his gluttonous urges, upheld composure, and awaited instructions from the ’Master’ here.
After neatly folding his napkin, the other man slightly raised his right hand, emitting a highly magnetic sound.
"Please, enjoy the meal."
William proceeded to act as a perfect actor at this unique dinner; each slice of lamb chop was precise,
the speed of entry into his mouth and the frequency of chewing impeccable,
his lips were devoid of any excess grease,
he meticulously timed his tasting of wine and lamb, savoring each mouthful perfectly,
each piece of lamb chop complemented with rosemary leaves, ensuring the plate was empty when the last bite was consumed, while finishing the wine.
Silent and elegant,
the clown virus lurking within William was entirely subdued at this moment.
After the banquet concluded, and the plate was retrieved for washing by the other party, the formal conversation mode finally began.
"Your etiquette is quite good, ’cleaner’ than those others."
"You flatter me, senior, it has taken quite an effort to be able to see you; I specifically came this time hoping for your signature. Without your signature, this matter is difficult."
William straightforwardly took out a special parchment from his pocket, already signed with multiple names, each name differing in color, aura, and depth.
"No hurry, William.
Even if those low-taste fellows acknowledge you, it doesn’t mean I will."
Go accomplish something; if you do it well, I’ll naturally help you sign."
The other party directly uttered William’s name,
for some unknown reason, at the instant his name was called, William’s head felt slightly uncomfortable. Even though transformed into Brain Hole Structure ’Madness Brain’, there remained a sensation as if scraped by a sharp blade.
"What is it?"
"Tonight’s banquet is your responsibility, if I can appreciate your ’talent’ among your dishes, I will naturally sign after the meal."
"And if it’s not appreciated?"
"Then I’ll use the most direct way to appreciate your talent."
"Do you have the ingredients?"
"Follow me."
The other man stood up, leading William to the back door of the residence.
Upon opening the door, a full view of greenery appeared, somewhat resembling the Eden Garden described in the Bible; it was the greenhouse backyard already converted into a vegetable garden.
Various common vegetables could be seen here, including the rosemary previously on the lamb chops.
However, the ’fertilizer’ underneath the soil seemed peculiar; despite the full view of greenery, the floral fragrance expected was overtaken by a fishy scent.
The little grape within William intended to investigate but was swiftly stopped, as any impolite act could attract malicious intrusion.
"Oh, such fresh ingredients here? Never expected these gods would give you such good conditions, senior,
but indeed, a facility like this couldn’t confine you for long. They probably used these favorable conditions to deliberately keep you here.
I’m curious, were these plants’ ’fertilizers’ given by them?"
"Certainly not; they wouldn’t go so far to please me."
"Then it’s?"
"Visitors who wish to know me but avoid direct dialogue or sharing the banquet will be permanently left behind.
Currently, many good ingredients are planted here. A chef’s talent is also evident in finding the best ingredients."
Six hours until dinner, you can start preparing now."
"Alright."
William strolled solo in the backyard, clearly perceiving these planted vegetables or ordinary plants were all connected to living beings yet to die, just as the other party said, all being top-notch ingredients.
However, he neither hurried his selection nor preprocessed the ingredients, instead, leaning against the central big tree for a brief rest, contemplating some necessary issues.
The Master here had returned to the house to read books.
"Hoo~ Didn’t expect such an encounter! Luckily, I was in the circus before; if this all goes smoothly, I must thank the boss well when I return.
Hope the boss isn’t dead yet~ hehe!"
When it was the last hour before dinner, William returned to the residence with a smile. In his hands, no bloodstains were found, only two ordinary ingredients.
Left hand tomato, right hand potato.
Such ingredient selection surprised the Master here; the book he was reading was temporarily put aside but quickly focused back on the text.
Maintaining mystery is crucial, it lends a distinct flavor to the food.
Before long,
a strong scent of meat wafted within the room, despite no meat ingredients, such aroma prevailed.
Time’s up.
The two sat across from each other at the dining table as when they first met, William poured his stewed ’Beef Bourguignon’ over freshly steamed rice with a ladle.
"William’s Special. Beef Bourguignon with Aromatic Rice"
Only the potato and tomato were sourced from the backyard; meat and Mili were magically additional.
As the other man scooped half rice, half dish into his mouth,
Mili was initially very chewy, but after three bites broke apart, with the internal fresh juice embodying the ocean’s unique umami.
When the special Mili’s savory flavor fused with the tender stew meat within the mouth,
the Master here was momentarily stunned, as if transported to the ocean’s abyss, a great sea dining hall hidden beneath the abyss.
"Delicious!"
