445: Chapter 434: Do You Really Think I’m Easy to Mess With?
“Didn’t run into much trouble, you guys first move this stone slab.” Song Yun coughed twice as he spoke.
Because of his quick reaction earlier, he had pulled Li Shishi under the desk before the house collapsed, so he wasn’t greatly harmed.
Damn it, had he been under attack these past few days as if he were a pushover?
Since they were on a construction site, the tools were quickly found.
A few disciples held crowbars, then inserted them into the crevices of the stone slab, exerted a little force, and the stone slab automatically fell outwards, breaking into several pieces.
“Brother Song, are you alright?” the leading disciple asked anxiously.
When he saw the house collapse earlier, his heart shattered.
Thankfully, heavens spared Brother Song; otherwise, even if headquarters forgave him, he would feel guilty for a lifetime.
“Let’s get Li Shishi out first,” Song Yun said, gasping for air as he patted Li Shishi and smiled, “You crawl out through this hole first; I’ll follow you.”
Li Shishi, now trembling like a frightened quail, clung to Song Yun, hiding in his arms.
Knowing she needed to be evacuated first, she desperately grabbed Song Yun’s collar, “I’m fine.
You go first.”
“Heh, we’re in a bungalow, there won’t be a secondary collapse,” Song Yun patted Li Shishi’s back to comfort her and smiled, “The assist from outside, come over.”
After Li Shishi was rescued by the disciples, unexpectedly, like a bolt from the blue, a sudden shaking erupted from somewhere among the rubble.
The already precarious walls instantly collapsed.
“Song Yun, Song Yun!” Li Shishi cried out as she saw a wall smash viciously into the hole she had just crawled out of.
“Don’t stop me.
Hurry and save Song Yun.”
The disciples hadn’t expected to face continuous attacks.
Damn it, they’d skin and bone the bastard who let them get their hands on him.
As reality dealt a severe blow to the disciples, they no longer dared to let their guard down.
Two of them were sent to look around for any suspicious people while another two desperately blocked Li Shishi from getting closer.
It took a lot of effort to get Li Shishi out safe, and if something else happened now, it would have been a terrible loss.
The leading disciple, annoyed, rubbed his head and looked at the ground covered with more rubble while calling out, “Brother Song, are you okay?”
“Cough, cough!”
Song Yun, his face covered in dust thrown up abruptly, coughed twice before shouting, “Damn it, lucky this desk is sturdy, otherwise I’d be done for.”
Knowing Song Yun could still joke around, Li Shishi also felt relieved.
This jerk still dared to joke at a time like this; the leading disciple’s heart went on a roller coaster ride, soaring and plummeting, ending in a frantic dash.
He waved his hand, calling over two workers, “There’s another person trapped underneath, come and help.”
Workers, stalwarts in dealing with construction, knew where the crevices could move and which couldn’t.
They quickly cleared a large hole, and the leading disciple shouted into the hole, “Brother Song, come out quickly now.”
“Okay.” Song Yun moved within the cramped space, realized that besides some severe abrasions on his arm, there didn’t seem to be any internal injuries.
Carefully crawling out from the hole, Song Yun finally exhaled a breath and didn’t bother sitting down immediately on the ground to celebrate surviving this ordeal.
Finding a safer spot seemed wiser at the moment.
“Song Yun, are you okay?” Li Shishi threw herself into Song Yun’s arms, frantically checking him over as she asked.
“Not too big of a problem, everything usable is still intact,” Song Yun touched her hair and smiled, “You go wash your face first; you look like a little panda now.”
Understanding Song Yun had questions to ask the disciples, Li Shishi nodded obediently and walked toward a water pipe nearby.
Once she had walked away, Song Yun sat on the ground, patted his pocket, discovered his smoke was probably lost in the rubble earlier, and gestured to the disciples who conveniently placed a pack of cigarettes in his hand.
Song Yun lit a cigarette and took a deep drag, “You guys were outside just now, you should know more than Li Shishi and I do.
Tell me, what exactly happened?”
“I didn’t see clearly either, I just heard a huge bang, turned around, and the building was a ruin,” the leading disciple said apologetically, “I’m sorry, Brother Song, I failed to protect you.”
“Alright, cut it out, we are all brothers here, why say such things?
Besides, do I still need your protection?” Song Yun comforted him.
“This person really played his cards close to his chest, if I hadn’t felt someone was targeting me, I’d have been crushed to death by now.”
“Brother Song’s luck is vast as the heavens; naturally, all gods and Buddhas protect you,” the disciple flattered a little.
“Was there anyone suspicious outside when the building collapsed?”
“We’ve been guarding this area all along.
Even after the collapse, besides the workers, we didn’t see anyone else.” The disciple shook his head, “I had already sent two people to scout the surroundings to check for any suspicious individuals.
They should be back by now.”
Speak of the devil, and he shall appear; two men dressed in black suits hurried over and shouted, “We spotted a suspicious person, dressed in a work uniform and wearing sunglasses.
We wanted to question him, but he ran off hastily.”
“Idiots, can’t even catch one person, what are you still alive for?” The leading disciple burst out in anger.
“Alright, you two, tell us about this suspect first,” Song Yun sighed.
“When Brother Hua told us to look for suspicious individuals, we split up and scouted not far off.
Later, I spotted a reflection from somewhere which seemed unusual.
When we reached the third floor, we found a person in a work uniform wearing sunglasses, holding a telescope looking downstairs.”
“Before we could even question him, this person suddenly jumped down from a gap in the third floor.
By the time we chased after him, he was gone.”
“Damn it, jumping off the third floor and he didn’t even break his neck,” the leading disciple cursed under his breath.
“There’s something fishy about this, damn it, if I hadn’t reacted fast, that assassin would have succeeded,” Song Yun gritted his teeth, “I’ve been under attack these past few days, and if I don’t fight back, do you guys really think I’m easy to mess with?”
