Chapter 78
This bed wasn’t small, but both of them were pressed up against him. He was trapped in the middle like a human sandwich! It felt like déjà vu, like back in the car ride to the castle, squeezed between the two sisters, unable to move…
We’re already in the castle, and THIS is still happening?!
To his left: Zhao Mengmeng. To his right: Shang Chan. Both stared at him with sweet, affectionate eyes.
Lin Tian couldn’t take it anymore. He sat up in a flash, scrambled to the edge of the bed, and looked at them like they were wild animals.
One vixen leaves, and two more take her place. I can’t live like this… If this keeps up, I’m gonna make a mistake sooner or later!!
He laughed awkwardly. “Haha… Is it dinner time yet? I didn’t really eat lunch…”
The sisters exchanged a glance, then both burst out laughing. No one knew what they were laughing about.
Sitting up, Shang Chan casually remarked, “Bai Bing’er was sitting right here, wasn’t she? This bed’s so soft…”
Lin Tian’s heart skipped. She’s still thinking about that?!
Zhao Mengmeng joined in with a smile, stroking the blanket. “Yeah… Sis, look, there’s still some water here. Probably from Bai Bing’er’s wet clothes, right?”
The way she said “water” sounded… very off.
Lin Tian’s face twitched. “Can you two just say what you want already?! Stop beating around the bush! It’s so annoying!”
In most powerful families, a servant speaking like this to the eldest and second daughter would be fired on the spot. But here, with Lin Tian and these two, it felt totally natural. He’d snapped at them before, many times in fact.
Shang Chan pouted. “What did Bai Bing’er say to you?”
Zhao Mengmeng looked at him with curiosity shining in her eyes. Lin Tian sighed in relief. At least they were willing to talk things out now.He honestly didn’t understand how he became the bad guy in all of this, when he hadn’t done anything wrong.
He threw up his hands. “Nothing much. She just said she thought your words earlier were a bit harsh. So she came to explain things. She said she has nothing going on with Jiang Yifeng, and that everything with the Zhao family was just business. After that, they had no further contact.”
Then he frowned. “What I don’t get is… this is between you and her, right? Why would she come explain things to me? I’m not her boyfriend or anything. Why would I care whether she has anything with Jiang Yifeng?”
Shang Chan and Zhao Mengmeng looked at each other and instantly understood.
It was clear Bai Bing’er was worried that Lin Tian would misunderstand her. That meant she cared what he thought. In other words, Bai Bing’er had real feelings for him. And in that moment, both sisters felt a wave of pressure.
None of them had guessed that all three women, Shang Chan, Zhao Mengmeng, and Bai Bing’er could hear Lin Tian’s inner thoughts. Even between themselves, the two sisters had no clue that the other could hear his thoughts too. The coincidences had stacked up in a ridiculously messy way.
Bai Bing’er suspected Shang Chan and Zhao Mengmeng liked Lin Tian. The sisters suspected Bai Bing’er liked him too. But none of them realized… they were all reacting to the same thing: Lin Tian’s unspoken thoughts.
If any of them ever found out the others could also hear his thoughts… Well, that would be one hell of a scene.
And if Lin Tian ever discovered they could hear his inner voice? It would be the most epic social-death moment in history.
…
After Lin Tian explained Bai Bing’er’s visit, the two sisters didn’t press further.
First, they didn’t really have the right. Second, they both recalled what Bai Bing’er had said that love should be shown through action, not excuses or job titles. Finally, the mood in the room returned to normal.
Lin Tian breathed a long sigh of relief. This whole thing had been way too intense for just waking up from a nap…
He chatted with the sisters for a bit until the doorbell rang again.
Lin Tian tensed. Now who?! Don’t tell me another heroine…
“Who is it?” he called out, cautiously.
Outside, a rich, elegant voice answered:
“Lin Tian, it’s me, Xuan Yuan Qingya.”
Lin Tian’s face went completely blank.
You’ve GOT to be kidding me.
If Bai Bing’er hadn’t just left, this room would have had the entire lineup of heroines in it.
