Lord of Illusions City
Chapter 356 The Way Back
The door closed with a soft sound, followed by a cloud of black mist that seeped out of the tavern. Fortunately, it was already night, so it wasn't very noticeable.
Mike didn't notice, but Grizzly recognized Li Chenzhou's War Fog. Seeing it, Grizzly was momentarily stunned.
Immediately releasing War Fog upon entering? Was he being too cautious? Or had Li Chenzhou discovered some powerful zombies?
Thinking this, Grizzly felt a little nervous but didn't show it on his face. He subtly adjusted the position of the rifle on his back, ready to fight instantly.
However, Grizzly didn't rush in. He knew the properties of War Fog. As long as it was active, Li Chenzhou was virtually invincible.
Especially now that Li Chenzhou was a Level 3 Awakened, with enough mental power to sustain the War Fog for over twenty seconds!
Twenty seconds was nothing in a romantic encounter, but in a real fight, it could decide several battles!
Grizzly waited. If the War Fog dissipated and Li Chenzhou didn't come out, he would break down the door, regardless of the noise.
But to their surprise, the War Fog vanished in less than two minutes. Then, the tavern door opened, and Li Chenzhou stood there, holding his club and waving at them with a relaxed expression!
"This..."
Mike gaped at Li Chenzhou, then looked at Grizzly in shock.
He hadn't noticed the War Fog. He just saw Li Chenzhou enter, close the door, and then silence. Less than two minutes later, Li Chenzhou emerged.
He now seriously suspected that Grizzly had been lying to him. There weren't any zombies in the tavern at all.
If there were zombies, let alone enhanced ones, even ordinary zombies couldn't be dealt with so quickly, and without making any noise.
Even if you were careful not to make a sound, would the zombies cooperate? Mike knew this tavern well. It was full of tables and chairs, and the aisles were narrow. Walking too fast could knock over a table or two, breaking bottles.
Grizzly ignored Mike and rushed inside, shining his flashlight around. He found over a dozen dead zombies and turned to Li Chenzhou.
"Any enhanced zombies?"
"Just ordinary ones! I just didn't want to use a flashlight!"
Li Chenzhou shook his head.
He used War Fog not because he encountered powerful zombies, as Grizzly had guessed, but because the tavern was pitch black.
Besides not blocking Li Chenzhou's sight, hearing, and smell, War Fog had another advantage: it ignored darkness.
Inside the War Fog, Li Chenzhou could clearly see everything within its range, regardless of light!
Moreover, the reason it took Li Chenzhou two minutes to kill those zombies was mainly because there were too many tables and chairs, and they were very messy. He spent most of his time approaching the zombies.
Hearing this, Grizzly suddenly understood. He knew about the properties of War Fog, but it wasn't his skill, so he hadn't thought of it. Also, he was worried.
Mike followed him in and saw the zombies that had just been smashed to death. Each had its head smashed, lying on the ground or slumped on tables. And at the bar, there was a familiar figure.
"I knew I saw your Mary!"
Grizzly said, looking at Mike.
"Oh! No! She's not Mary anymore, and she never was mine!"
Mike shook his head, looking at Mary's corpse, and then looked at Li Chenzhou, his shock uncontainable.
"Li! Did you do all this? My God! You're amazing! Are people from your side all like this?"
"You'll be like this soon enough!"
Li Chenzhou smiled and walked into the tavern, looking at the liquor on the bar's shelves. He wondered if he should exchange for a Space Battle Vehicle to scavenge resources here. The only downside of the Slaughter Mall was that only products from the Slaughter Mall could be stored inside. It couldn't be used to store materials. Otherwise, Li Chenzhou wouldn't have spent so many Slaughter Points to expand Darkblood!
But in the end, Li Chenzhou gave up. He had enough to eat and drink. He'd wait and see. He wasn't staying here long. What would he do with a vehicle when he left?
After learning his location, Li Chenzhou's first goal was to return. He only had five years and wouldn't waste time here. To return, he would have to take the sea route, crossing the ocean by boat.
Planes could definitely be found, but the air was too dangerous. One flying mutated beast, and it would all be over. The ocean, on the other hand, seemed to be affected by the Hell Silk, so although mutated beasts appeared in the water, the chances were low, and the number of aquatic mutated beasts was relatively small.
Actually, he could exchange for an aircraft that wasn't afraid of mutated beasts directly from the mall. After all, the Slaughter Mall even had airborne fortresses.
But the prices of those things... Well! Speechless. So Li Chenzhou planned to find a ship here and find a way back.
That was why he was helping James and the others so seriously. If he just wanted to uncover the city's secrets, it would be better for James and the others to stay in the city. After all, the more people there were, the more likely they were to attract zombies. How could he be so enthusiastic about helping him find a base outside the city?
After looking around the tavern, he didn't find anything. Mike and Grizzly each grabbed a bottle of liquor and started drinking. Mike was shocked, so he needed liquor to calm his nerves. As for Grizzly... he was just greedy!
"Alright, I guess these are all ordinary zombies here. I'll go clear them out. You guys stay here. I'll call you if anything happens!"
Li Chenzhou walked outside, saying.
Now that he was sure they were ordinary zombies, there was nothing to worry about. And since it was still early, Li Chenzhou planned to clean up this so-called town by himself.
"Okay!"
Grizzly didn't care. If Li Chenzhou was willing, he'd happily stay here and drink for a while. After all, it was a foreign bar and liquor. They had it in China, but it was still a little different.
"Wait for me, I'll go too!"
Grizzly didn't want to participate, but Mike followed. He wanted to see with his own eyes how strong Li Chenzhou really was...
