388: Chapter 388 [Fight for a Way Out] Fourth Update!
Chapter update number four!
Just one character, but oh so terrifying, it actually stirred up all the negative emotions within a person and forcefully tried to occupy and devour one’s consciousness.
It was probably this character that caused the single dogs to feel fear earlier.
Even Ye Chenfeng was now possessed by madness, his consciousness invaded by the “kill” character, negative emotions surging throughout his body, malevolence soaring to the skies, his eyes turning a blood-red, more horrifying than when suffering from post-war trauma.
The clanging sound of chains outside, the grinding wheels slowly activating, their bodies would be crushed, consciousness about to be devoured.
At this critical moment, something on Ye Chenfeng suddenly shone, as if injecting a force into him, yanking him back from the uncontrollable state.
The surge of negative emotions within Ye Chenfeng subsided, his gaze gradually clearing and brightening.
It was the Buddha Beads given by the old monk!
The Buddha Beads given by the old monk were what saved Ye Chenfeng at this crucial time.
Ye Chenfeng broke out in a cold sweat, thankful that he hadn’t thrown away the Buddha Beads that day.
“Wake up!”
Ye Chenfeng bellowed and moved the child’s corpse back to its original place, covering up the character for “kill.”
“Ah, what happened?”
Ouyang Qingcheng and the others soon regained consciousness, looking confused.
“Quick, get out!
The grinding disk is about to start!” Ye Chenfeng no longer had time to explain.
The grinding disk was too massive, so it needed time to start up, but this also gave Ye Chenfeng and the others a chance to escape.
“Kill!”
With a shout of “kill,” Ye Chenfeng and Bai Jie were the first to leap out of the groove.
Ouyang Qingcheng and her three companions quickly followed.
The eyes of the child’s corpse in the groove stared fixedly at their retreating backs, the thin lips curved into an enigmatic smile.
The character for “kill” beneath the body strangely vanished.
After leaping out of the groove, they realized that their surroundings were filled with flickering shadows, and Ye Chenfeng and his group could now clearly see what was closest to them.
They resembled monkeys that hadn’t fully evolved, with fierce and pale faces, thick fur, and eyes emitting a ghostly glow, their four limbs shining with an eerie light, obviously tough enough to be used as weapons.
They had just witnessed the horror of these creatures, and now, hundreds of them swarming caused a chill to run down their spines.
The moment they saw the humans emerge, these creatures shrieked and rushed towards them.
Ye Chenfeng and Bai Jie charged forward, with Ye Chenfeng’s Iron Leg sweeping, sending a swath of monsters flying.
Bai Jie’s Tang sword shimmered coldly, splattering blood everywhere.
In an instant, a path was violently cleared through the monster horde.
However, the formidable prowess displayed by Ye Chenfeng and Bai Jie ignited their competitive spirits, and another wave of monsters crazily charged at them.
They were incredibly fast, their claws sharp as knives, coupled with intelligence, they even fought in successive waves like a well-coordinated group.
In less than two minutes, Ye Chenfeng and Bai Jie repelled seven or eight of their attacks, with Bai Jie sustaining several injuries from the sharp claws.
Moreover, these creatures seemed impossible to kill off, as their numbers kept growing.
Had Ye Chenfeng wanted to hold back his strength before, not wanting them to know about the single dogs prematurely,
but now, when he wanted to unleash the single dogs to suppress the horde of monsters, the damn thing trembled with fear and refused to come out.
However, it wasn’t these monsters it feared, but something inside the grinding disk.
“Let me carve out a bloody path!”
The next moment, Ye Chenfeng’s hands gripped the Dragon Fang, his aura surging, as though he had become a different person altogether.
“Boom!”
The Dragon Fang swung out, combined with True Qi, its lethal power was tremendous, sending seven or eight monsters flying.
“Kill!”
Seeing blood spatter, Ye Chenfeng seemed to grow even more excited, his Dragon Fang sword blazing a bloody path through the enemy, leaving corpses and fresh blood in its wake.
Bai Jie had followed them, but Ouyang Qingcheng, along with two subordinates, was trapped by a horde of monsters.
The monsters on that side, perhaps sensing Ouyang Qingcheng’s weakness, furiously assaulted her.
“Master, you must run!
We’ll hold them off!” The two girls forcefully pushed Ouyang Qingcheng towards Ye Chenfeng.
Ye Chenfeng leaped up to catch Ouyang Qingcheng.
Most of the monsters in this tunnel had already been slaughtered by Ye Chenfeng.
These tunnels were all disconnected, and escape would have been easy if it were not for the overwhelming number of pursuers behind them.
“Master, hurry up and go!”
The two girls, with eyes red with fury, were covered in blood, standing like guardian deities at the mouth of the tunnel, holding back the surge of monsters.
“Go!”
Without a hint of sympathy, Ye Chenfeng cradled Ouyang Qingcheng and fled desperately, with Bai Jie close on his heels.
“Ahh…”
Not knowing how far they had run, the trio could faintly hear screams behind them; it was clear without seeing that the monsters had torn the two girls apart.
However, their sacrifice had bought time for their escape, so they had died for a worthy cause.
“Are you crying?” Ye Chenfeng asked.
Ouyang Qingcheng stayed quiet, but Ye Chenfeng knew she had definitely been crying.
Back in the Thousand Lakes District, Ouyang Qingcheng had used the lives of these girls to test Ye Chenfeng’s strength, regarding them as expendable soldiers, mere tools.
But now she was crying, showing that Ouyang Qingcheng’s heart had begun to change.
They ran a great distance and the sounds behind them ceased, indicating that the monsters were not pursuing them.
However, the three of them could not feel any joy, for they had failed to obtain what they sought.
Furthermore, the entrance had already been destroyed by explosives mixed with Western Region dragon oil, forcing them to find another way out.
Now faced with several forks in the path, they were unsure of which way to choose.
“I wonder how the Thief and the others are doing?” Bai Jie said.
“I hope they are alright!”
“Someone’s there!”
Suddenly, the three spotted a figure darting into one of the side tunnels.
“That’s the person who escaped earlier!” Ye Chenfeng whispered before darting after the shadow.
The figure was fast, quickly covering several hundred meters.
“Be careful!”
They reached the spot and found no trace of the figure.
However, there was a cave entrance before them, and Ye Chenfeng and company cautiously entered.
The cave wasn’t large; a damp and decaying scent wafted through, with skeletons strewn about.
But there was nothing of substance, and the frowns on the faces of Ye Chenfeng and his companions deepened.
“Bang!”
Suddenly, something was thrown into the cave, emitting smoke.
“Grenade!” Bai Jie cried out in alarm.
But that was followed by a rumbling noise as the small cave was bathed in an explosion of flames, likely destroying everything inside.
Outside the cave stood a dark figure, who slowly removed the mask from his face, revealing a handsome yet incredibly pale visage.
His thin, almost seductive lips curled into a smile: “Ye Chenfeng has been dealt with, everything now relies on the Crown Prince!”
