Chapter 1801: Chapter 1828: Buy a Book for the Kid
Time paused.
Everything around fell into silence, completely still.
A second of time suspension seemed brief, but cultivators could accomplish much during such moments.
“Wealthy Li Xiaobai” appeared somewhat unreal, lacking the solidity experienced in the Immortal Gods Realm.
Li Xiaobai directed the Visualized Item to remove tentacles, but there were simply too many; removing just one made him realize conventional methods couldn’t eradicate them.
“These tentacles are chaotic, even if crushed, they regenerate quickly. Yet they aren’t mindless. For the overseer to control them, there must be a central node, meaning among these tentacles, one is the core. If the core is crushed, other tentacles will lose command and crumble on their own.”
Li Xiaobai’s brain worked rapidly, while “Wealthy Li Xiaobai’s” fingers moved with speed, gently sweeping all the tentacles aside like a breeze.
If his assumption was correct, then at the instant time resumed, the tentacle serving as the core would be the first to turn back toward the Divine Soul. Only the core could pinpoint the Divine Soul’s position to further control the other tentacles to entwine.
A second passed.
Time resumed flow, and the book before him flipped to a new page.
On the page was an illustration showing countless tentacles pushed to the side, with one tentacle’s position starkly opposed to the others.
Found it!
That one was the core, part of the overseer’s Divine Soul attached to it!
“Kid, what did you do?”
Three Inch Golden Lotus was quite perceptive; it sensed something had changed.
“I didn’t do anything. I’m contemplating whether to crush you or chop you to pieces.”
Li Xiaobai replied placidly.
“Heh, just a big talker…”
“No, something significant must have occurred, yet I’ve retained no memory of it. Was the book responsible? I’ve heard Yu Huan Shui could read and even alter others’ memories with the Law of Power. What are you hiding from me?”
Three Inch Golden Lotus asked coldly, feeling strongly out of sync, losing all interest in mocking Li Xiaobai. It was certain, during one moment, one memory was missing.
Something occurred in that moment, becoming Li Xiaobai’s ace.
“Indeed, you cultivators of the starry sky have remarkably keen sense; even without a cause, you deduce accurately.”
“I’ve identified the location of your Visualized Item. Prepare to die!”
Murderous intent erupted from Li Xiaobai’s eyes, and beside him “Wealthy Li Xiaobai” swiftly and precisely pinched that anomalous tentacle, gradually removing it from the brain.
“How is this possible!”
“How did you discover it?”
“This was power even Yu Huan Shui failed to detect!”
“Wait, what are you doing…you can’t crush me…”
“Wealthy Li Xiaobai’s” hand remained steady, completely extracting the tentacle from the brain. Remaining tendrils became pulverized, nourishing the Divine Soul within an instant.
The overseer panicked, having no clue what happened, losing a moment of memory, followed by the exposure of Three Inch Golden Lotus’s true form. This wasn’t a joke; if crushed, he’d face serious damage, comparable to death during a confrontation.
Li Xiaobai said nothing, commanding the Visualized Item to ball up the tentacle.
Three Inch Golden Lotus struggled vigorously: “You can’t do this; you must question me about the organization. I’m chasing you; don’t you want its information?”
Li Xiaobai: “If I asked, would you tell me?”
“We could negotiate…”
“You ask, I refuse, then you threaten, and finally I divulge everything, and you let me go. Isn’t that a joyful ending? We’re all in this together; why keep this tension? I genuinely admire your tactics…”
Three Inch Golden Lotus proposed.
“Old thing, you still don’t understand me enough.”
“Up to now, I’ve overcome countless crises. How could mere Immortal Gods Realm dare claim my life? This is a fight, a tit for tat, and one of us must die.”
Li Xiaobai coldly waved his hand, and “Wealthy Li Xiaobai” crushed the tentacle into meat paste, the wretched screams echoed in his ears.
“I won’t forget you; you can’t escape. I’ll find you and personally torture you to death!”
The elder’s voice faded away, eventually vanishing.
“Deep space is truly dangerous, enigmatic and overwhelming in defense.”
Li Xiaobai wiped sweat from his forehead, taking a deep breath.
“Master, how did you locate the core of this Visualized Item?”
Ma Niubi was bewildered; he didn’t possess the overseer’s sharp senses, only seeing Li Xiaobai inexplicably pulling out Three Inch Golden Lotus’s true form.
“Amitabha, it appears to be the power of the Law. For a moment, this monk felt disconnected from the surrounding environment.”
Monk Liaowang pondered aloud.
“Secrets cannot be divulged. In any case, if that guy’s not dead, he’ll be skinned. He won’t return shortly.”
Li Xiaobai laughed heartily, finally able to observe his surroundings.
At a glance, he was startled. At some point, many people gathered outside the book house, men and women, young and old, the young lady who watched the shop had left and now gazed at them through a window.
Ma Niubi was puzzled: “What’s going on? Why’s everyone watching us?”
Monk Liaowang: “We intruded on the village, naturally inciting the villagers’ displeasure. You two patrons, please follow this monk out to apologize.”
“That’s proper. This village seems normal, and the young girl doesn’t appear to be cultivators. Disturbing them without reason must be apologized for.”
Li Xiaobai nodded, took out a piece of superior Rare Earth, contemplated briefly, broke off half to pocket, gifting one whole piece would be extravagant. Half was just right.
The three of them exited the book house, and the crowd stepped back slightly.
“Amitabha, my monk’s disturbance to you all earlier was inappropriate, please be magnanimous.”
Monk Liaowang joined hands and bowed courteously.
Monks were everywhere; an Amitabha rendered the villagers more affable.
“Amitabha, so he’s indeed a master. A while ago, a master visited our village too.”
“A monk views worldly possessions lightly, money doesn’t matter, quite understandable, but the child seems genuinely fond of books. Skimping would be wrong.”
“Indeed, I’ve seen the child clutching a book and raising a ruckus from afar. Such thirst for knowledge ought to be satisfied by the master.”
“Child, what book were you reading just now? Take it out, I’ll purchase it for you.”
Seeing Monk Liaowang’s gentle demeanor, villagers approached, chorusing their opinions.
Mostly attracted by Li Xiaobai’s earlier page flipping, these villagers were unaware of what transpired, only seeing Li Xiaobai engrossed, his intense concentration captivating them, a long time since seeing a young man so eager for reading.
Li Xiaobai remained silent: “Uh, grateful.”
