Chapter 254: Author's Note

The "Mist of the Northern Sea" volume is finished. To be honest, I was a little apprehensive while writing it because it involved a new environment and new characters, past stories, and current musings. Overall, the quality is decent. One of the most important themes in this volume is "metabolism." Northern Qi is a continuation of Northern Wei and the center of the old era. Most of the prominent figures of that time were in this country, and they gradually age and die in these ninety-nine chapters. Characters like the Emperor and Haitang are still young, but they will eventually take the stage.

Almost forgot to mention, what I feel most cocky and proud about in this volume is that it ended precisely at chapter ninety-nine, exactly as planned.

As for Fan Xian, he not only has to take over the work of his predecessors and stand his ground—taking over Zhuang Mo Han's position and standing in Xiao En's place, hehe—but more importantly, after the cave incident, after gaining a clearer understanding of the previous person's affairs, he must gradually break free from that omnipresent sense of being surrounded. Fan Xian can only be the Fan Xian who dares to offend. Of course, self-mastery doesn't mean not inheriting or having to do something yourself, surpassing something... that's too tiring, and I won't write it that way. Because the primary purpose outside of the core ideology of Qing Yu Nian is to make Fan Xian the coolest second-generation heir in all novels. One of my life fantasies is to suddenly inherit hundreds of billions of dollars from a distant relative... Don't you all want that? Alas, that just shows that I am indeed very vulgar.

As for what the core ideology is? I originally planned to summarize it when I wrote the third book, but let me say it now. I plan to write three novels. The first one is already finished. Zhu Que Ji talks about: It's better to live badly than to die well. The second book, Qing Yu Nian, talks about: Living is a very rare thing, so you have to live it happily. The third book I plan to write is about: How to live, a story of seeking life in death.

Three very verbose principles, but sometimes verbose words themselves are actually very reasonable.

Qing Yu Nian is a popular read and doesn't have any profound meaning. The key is to tell a story. I won't deliberately try to be literary because words are already not concise, and trying to make them more so would turn them into embroidered toilet seat covers. I also won't deliberately seek any meaning because Fan Xian is not Xu Sanduo. He is a person with a very clear purpose, which was made very clear in the opening of the first volume. However, there will always be times when some slightly sour and sweet emotions appear in the writing. There's no way around it. People are emotional animals, and I inevitably have some preference and feeling for some of the characters I write.

All I have is a fiery heart and the sincerity to tell a story seriously!

I have to ensure daily updates, so I don't have time to doze off in the middle. And there are always this and that happening around me, especially after crossing the threshold of thirty, I suddenly realized that there are many things in life that you have to take care of. I used to be someone with a lot of time, but now I can't help but feel that time is not enough. But those are all private matters, and I don't plan to say more about them here, so as not to affect everyone's reading.

Sentimental, sentimental, I won't say anymore, I bow and step down.

Oh right, one last sentence: Transmigration is really a very enjoyable thing. I have decided that if I have the opportunity in the future, I must transmigrate again. This time, I will transmigrate to a real dynasty. At worst, I will discover tobacco and chili peppers first, and invent white liquor... As long as you have these three things in life, what shortcomings can't you endure?
