Hu Die Lan

Chapter 87 Sleepless

Chen Guo quickly tidied up and rushed to the internet cafe like a whirlwind. She was greeted by the staff with "Good morning, boss lady!" and found Tang Rou in the corner of the no-smoking area. Her expression was just as focused as when Chen Guo had gone to bed the night before, showing no signs of fatigue. She then ran to the corner of the smoking area and saw Ye Xiu smoking, his face obscured by the hazy blue smoke as he operated the game.

It was early in the morning! The internet cafe was at its quietest, with even fewer people than during the all-nighters. The crisp sounds of their operations echoed in the internet cafe, tap, tap, tap, tap.

Chen Guo ignored Ye Xiu and went straight to Tang Rou.

"Still playing? You're going to die," Chen Guo said as she approached.

There was no response. Tang Rou was wearing headphones, and all she could hear were the sounds of the game. Chen Guo and everything else around her were in a different world.

Chen Guo had no choice but to take off her headphones. Only then did Tang Rou react.

"You're up, good morning!" Tang Rou glanced at Chen Guo for half a second, then turned back to the game, tap, tap, tap, tap.

"You're obsessed," Chen Guo said helplessly. She was starting to wonder if bringing Tang Rou into Glory was the right thing to do.

"Hehe," Tang Rou simply smiled without saying anything.

"What level are you?" Chen Guo leaned in to look.

"Level 16, still 5 levels behind Ye Xiu's Lord Grim," Tang Rou said, clicking on her friends list. When she saw Lord Grim, she exclaimed, "Oh no, he leveled up again! He's level 22."

"Why are you so competitive! Play this dungeon and then go to sleep. Rest up before playing again," Chen Guo said, seeing that Tang Rou's Soft Mist was fighting in the Skeleton Graveyard in the newbie village, and soloing it. Who would believe she was a Glory newbie?

"Sleep? I should be at work already," Tang Rou said.

Chen Guo was stunned. Indeed, it was Tang Rou's early shift today. She should already be at the front desk.

"I'll go after I finish this dungeon!" Tang Rou gave Chen Guo a flattering smile. No matter how good their relationship was, they were still boss and employee. Tang Rou had work to do at the internet cafe; she wasn't just there to eat, sleep, and play for free.

"Take a break first! I'll find someone to cover for you," Chen Guo said.

"No need, no need." Tang Rou chatted with Chen Guo while continuing to play. After a night of studying guides and playing the game, using the low-level skills of a Battle Mage over and over, Tang Rou had improved a lot and no longer relied solely on reaction and operation.

"Done!" Under Chen Guo's gaze, Tang Rou's Soft Mist single-handedly defeated the final boss of the Skeleton Graveyard. She quit the game, shut down the computer, and went to the front desk. Chen Guo followed blankly, and by the time she reached the front desk, Tang Rou was already logging into the game again.

"I said, shouldn't you eat something at least?" Chen Guo said.

"You haven't eaten either, right? Thanks!" Tang Rou smiled flatteringly again.

"I can't do anything with you!" Chen Guo said with a wry smile. She went out and bought breakfast, gave a portion to Tang Rou, and brought an extra portion for Ye Xiu.

"Ah! Boss, you're too kind," Ye Xiu said as he accepted the breakfast. "I didn't tuck you in last night, how did you sleep?"

"You two are crazy!" Chen Guo thought of the scene of waking up to find herself alone in the three-person room.

"Oh? Little Tang didn't sleep either?" Ye Xiu said, opening his friends list and seeing Soft Mist still online.

"You didn't know?" Chen Guo was stunned. Didn't these two talk to each other all night? Tang Rou had been chasing after his level, but he didn't even know.

"Didn't notice. Perfect, I have something to ask her!" Ye Xiu took his breakfast and went to find Tang Rou.

Tang Rou was eating breakfast while looking at Battle Mage guides on the computer. When she saw Ye Xiu coming over, she quickly swallowed the food in her mouth, wiped her mouth, and nodded in greeting.

"What level are you?" Ye Xiu asked.

"Level 16."

"Pretty fast! Level up to 25 quickly, there's something fun to do," Ye Xiu said.

"Oh? What is it?" Tang Rou asked.

"Did you see the record for the Frost Forest dungeon?" Ye Xiu asked.

"I saw it, your record seems to have been broken!" Tang Rou said. She was paying attention to the record because she had wanted to surpass Ye Xiu, but she didn't expect someone to beat him first that night. One of the teams even included Ye Xiu himself. Tang Rou saw Lord Grim's name in the second-place team, with a score higher than the original.

"Not just mine, the highest records for all ten Glory servers have been broken," Ye Xiu said.

"You want to take it back?" Tang Rou said.

"Yeah, sounds fun, right?" Ye Xiu said.

"If you take it back, I'll break your record again. That would be even more fun," Tang Rou said.

"Do you have a grudge against me!" Ye Xiu said, not knowing whether to laugh or cry. This girl was really serious about competing with him.

"Hehe," Tang Rou laughed.

"When you reach level 20, try the dungeon first! I think you're underestimating the concept of this record," Ye Xiu said.

"I'm just kidding. The highest record in ten servers must be amazing," Tang Rou said.

"Oh, then level up quickly!" Ye Xiu breathed a sigh of relief. He was worried that this girl might be too conceited.

"Okay," Tang Rou nodded in agreement.

"Are you sleeping today?" Ye Xiu asked.

"I..."

"Hey, you two are going too far!!!" Chen Guo suddenly jumped out and interrupted. After listening for a while, she realized that these two were planning not to sleep at all. Did they have to play so hard?

"Don't worry, boss, it won't affect work," Ye Xiu said.

"That's not okay either. The internet cafe's computers are all mine, I won't let you play," Chen Guo said stubbornly.

Ye Xiu sighed and tapped on the front desk. "Little Tang, get me a membership card."

Tang Rou was stunned, then actually went to get one, muttering, "Then I'll get one too!"

Chen Guo was about to collapse. She was so angry! What was worse was that Tang Rou was following suit. She had gone bad, gone bad! She had only played Glory for a day and she had already gone bad.

"I don't care about you anymore," Chen Guo said angrily and ran away.

"Cough, keep leveling up." Ye Xiu didn't mention the membership card. He greeted Tang Rou and went back to his smoking area to continue his struggle.

Tang Rou's early shift was from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The internet cafe was relatively quiet in the morning, so she wasn't too busy and could still play the game. After noon, the number of customers gradually increased, and she was a little overwhelmed at the front desk. Her game was interrupted, but she continued to persevere.

Ye Xiu stopped playing at noon and came over to see Tang Rou still playing the game under such harsh conditions. It was really not easy for her.

"You're really not sleeping?" Ye Xiu asked.

"I'm on the early shift, I get off at 3:00," Tang Rou said.

"Oh," Ye Xiu replied. "You still need to rest. Stamina has a big impact on performance."
