Chapter 10 Trap

Echoing explosions reverberated through the passage. Stalactite-like stone pillars shattered and piled up, collapsing the area near An Wenshan and Han Yu, blocking the passage's exit. The rubble completely sealed it off.

For An Wenshan and Han Yu, there was no way to return. They could only move forward; only by finding the meteorite could they find a way out.

Han Yu and An Wenshan were in a round chamber. A huge corridor stretched out from the front of the chamber, with dimly glowing green lamps on both sides. The light they had seen in the passage came from these lamps.

With the white-haired monster dealt with, a weight had finally lifted from An Wenshan's heart. He didn't pity the unfortunate Li Decha, nor did he pay attention to the grief-stricken Han Yu. Contented, he carried Han Yu on his back and walked toward the depths of the corridor.

As they moved, Han Yu suddenly said coldly from An Wenshan's back, "You tricked Li Decha, sending him to his death for nothing. You could have used a grenade to blow up the passage's exit.”

An Wenshan paused for a moment, but his aura remained as steady as ever. He calmly replied, "You saw through it?"

Han Yu's tone was dejected. "If your knife had really hit a vital point, there's no way Li Decha could have walked into that passage. He would have fainted before entering."

Even after Han Yu exposed his lie, An Wenshan's face remained unchanged. "That's right. I only injured a few blood vessels, but I didn't sever his main artery. If I hadn't done that, Li Decha wouldn't have sacrificed himself to die with the white-haired monster. If I hadn't done that, the white-haired monster wouldn't have lowered its guard and approached Li Decha."

Han Yu said emotionlessly, "You really are a ruthless person."

An Wenshan sneered. "The fact that the white-haired monster didn't die after falling off the cliff means it's not the common ferocious beast we think it is. It's intelligent and knows how to fight. It's too familiar with this environment. We have no advantage against it. You need to understand, guns can't threaten the white-haired monster, and axes and knives can't do anything to it. If we threw a grenade in there and the white-haired monster noticed and threw it back, we'd be the ones who got blown up. Desperate times call for desperate measures. The question now is whether one person dies or three. What An Wenshan said was true, but the fact of Li Decha's death was still difficult for Han Yu to accept.

"Put me down, I can walk on my own."

Han Yu said to An Wenshan, almost as an order.

An Wenshan didn't follow Han Yu's order. Instead, he tightened the straps securing Han Yu to his back, making her press closer to him to improve the connection and stability, making it easier to continue on the journey.

An Wenshan saw that Han Yu's mood was low and she wasn't concerned with the rest of the mission.

An Wenshan, in a rare moment of comfort, explained to Han Yu, "Even without my knife, Li Decha wouldn't have lived much longer. I observed that in the passage just now, Li Decha's arm was hit in the artery by a falling rock. The wound was extremely bad, and the tourniquet couldn't stop the bleeding. The blood loss during the escape through the passage was already severe. Even amputation wouldn't have saved his life. After we left the passage, I estimated that Li Decha would have passed out and died in thirty minutes at most."

Han Yu didn't know if what An Wenshan said was true or false. She had no way to verify it.

However, An Wenshan's words did soothe Han Yu's wounded heart, allowing her mood to gradually stabilize.

Han Yu sighed and said, "Are you a bad person or a good person?"

An Wenshan didn't answer.

How should "good" and "bad" be defined? In reality, if a good person occasionally does a bad thing, will they become a bad person? If a bad person occasionally does a good thing, will they become a good person?
