Chapter 304 "My" Corpse
I was completely bewildered by Fatty's actions, not knowing what had suddenly gotten into him.
Fatty remained unmoved, still holding the knife horizontally between us, the blade pointed directly at my heart.
I stared into Fatty's eyes. His pupils were rapidly contracting, and I saw a trace of bewildered terror in his gaze. I could feel his tension and fear.
"Fatty, put the knife down first. Let's talk this out."
My tone softened considerably as I tried to calm Fatty down so we could communicate properly.
But Fatty remained unmoved.
"You better fess up! Who the hell are you?" Fatty raised the blade a centimeter and took a step forward, pressing me for an answer.
But I really didn't know what answer Fatty wanted. It all happened too fast, and I was completely stunned.
I suddenly remembered Rouyi and Jennifer being with Fatty, so I thought of asking them to persuade him.
"Rouyi, Jennifer, are you two going crazy with Fatty too?"
Unexpectedly, Rouyi hid behind Fatty, not daring to look at me. Her voice trembling, she said to me, "You... you answer us first... who exactly are you?"
Rouyi's words made me want to cry.
"What is this all about? Who else could I be but Zhao Chenguang, your young master! Haven't I been good to you guys along the way?"
I wiped the sweat from my forehead and continued, "Tell me, no matter who I am, if I wanted to harm you, I would have already done it. Would I have kept you around until now?"
Fatty now completely regarded me as an enemy. He interrupted me with a forceful tone, "Keeping us around until now probably means we're still useful to you. There's no need to hide it anymore. Tell us, who exactly are you? Who sent you?"
"You son of a..." I was about to be driven crazy by Fatty.
Now Fatty and I were facing off, the atmosphere tense. Fatty seemed ready to strike me down at any moment.
I tried to initiate communication again, to awaken their "consciences." "Are you guys possessed? What exactly happened? At least let me know that."
This time it was Fatty's turn to be silent. Fatty didn't answer me.
Then Rouyi took over, leaning half her body out from behind Fatty. She pointed to the two corpses in the corner and said to me, "One of those corpses is the young master's, and the other is Han Yu's. How do you explain that?"
Hearing Rouyi's words, my mind seemed to explode with a "buzzing" sound.
I had expected that one of those corpses might be Han Yu's, but I never imagined that there would be "my" corpse among them.
After Rouyi said this, Fatty became even more nervous, as if Rouyi's words had "ruthlessly shattered my mask." Now was the time for both sides to reveal their hands.
Damn, this is a total injustice! I was also shocked when I heard Rouyi's words.
Although the situation was critical, Rouyi's words made me intensely interested in those two corpses. "Alright, Fatty, you say Zhao Chenguang is dead, but I don't agree, because I am Zhao Chenguang himself. I strongly suspect that you've mistaken someone, or that you're under some kind of illusion!" I argued.
Fatty insisted, "I might be mistaken, and Rouyi might be mistaken, but the two of us wouldn't be mistaken at the same time. You're right, we might be under some kind of illusion, but Jennifer didn't get close to those two corpses. She wouldn't be under an illusion too, would she? Stop trying to weasel your way out of this and tell us the truth. Fatty爷 isn't afraid of anything. Use whatever means you have."
"Stop! Stop! Stop! Fatty, don't get worked up. It's not time for a desperate fight yet. Since you're so certain, then please let me see the corpse of the 'young master' you're talking about. Let me die knowing why, okay?"
Having said that, I took the initiative to remove all my equipment under Fatty's watchful eye, revealing all my tools and blades, and neatly placing them in front of Fatty.
After dropping all my belongings, I raised my hands to show my sincerity.
"You won't shed tears until you see the coffin. Fine, go take a look. If you dare to make any funny moves, Fatty 爷 will slice off your head," Fatty said through gritted teeth.
So, under Fatty's surveillance, I came to the two corpses. I slowly squatted down and carefully examined them.
Probably due to severe dryness and dehydration, the two corpses had not decayed but had been mummified. The skin of these two mummified corpses still had some elasticity, making it seem like they had only been dead for two or three years.
These were a male and female mummy. The male mummy leaned against the wall, his head tilted, with a dagger wound piercing his chest. The tip of the dagger protruded from the male mummy's chest. He seemed to have something to say, his mouth open, but no sound came out. The female mummy sat sideways beside the male mummy, her arms tightly clasping the man's back. She was turned to the side, her eyes seeming to be in a perpetual state between sleep and wakefulness.
I nudged the female mummy slightly, adjusting the position of the two mummies, and realized that the female mummy's hands behind the male mummy's back were holding the dagger tightly, never letting go even in death.
In other words, according to Fatty's account, Han Yu killed 'me' with the dagger, and then was killed by 'me' in return. As for how 'I' retaliated against Han Yu, I couldn't tell from the two corpses in front of me at all.
