Chapter 112 Returning to Dust

The camp where An Wenshan was located was beneath a very hidden sand dune, perfectly avoiding all the usual desert routes. No matter which direction you looked from in the desert, you wouldn't notice the camp.

When An Wenshan arrived at the camp with Rou Yi and Fatty, there was a woman cooking over a fire. The sound was also very faint. You wouldn't realize anyone was there unless you got close.

An Wenshan greeted the woman, then personally set up a small temporary tent for Fatty and Rou Yi. An Wenshan said to them, "Don't mind it, we usually have two people per tent. In order not to attract attention, we made it hidden. I'm afraid you'll have to make do with this small tent."

It was indeed a squeeze, because the tent was really too small. It would be alright for Fatty to sleep alone, but if you added another person, it would definitely be terribly crowded.

An Wenshan smiled slightly, "However, we have sleeping bags. If you each wrap yourselves in a sleeping bag, this small tent should be able to fit the two of you."

Because they had to evacuate from here the next day, and Fatty and Rou Yi were both exhausted, they didn't argue. One after the other, they squeezed into the small tent, each curled up in a sleeping bag, ready to rest.

They hadn't closed their eyes for long when they heard sounds of lovemaking coming from the tent next door. It was undoubtedly An Wenshan and that woman. An Wenshan was sure that Fatty and Rou Yi wouldn't run away in the dark without knowing the way, so he didn't pay much attention to them.

Fatty and Rou Yi turned red at the sound of the intense physical activity.

Rou Yi felt ashamed and angry, and was extremely disgusted by An Wenshan's actions, but since she was in a tent with Fatty, she couldn't say anything. So she turned over, facing the other way, with her back to Fatty, to avoid embarrassment.

Fatty thought to himself, this An Wenshan is really made of steel. He worked so hard on the long journey during the day, and still had the energy to seek pleasure at night. Amazing.

After struggling for a few minutes, An Wenshan surrendered. After finishing the deed, he didn't go straight to sleep, but put on his clothes and went out of the tent again.

The bonfire flickered. An Wenshan wrapped his clothes tightly around him and smoked silently by the fire.

At midnight, two faint, flickering lights suddenly appeared in the desert. The lights were approaching the camp. The two men who had pretended to be supply soldiers had returned. An Wenshan was still awake, waiting for them.

"Did you take care of everything?" An Wenshan asked.

One of them replied, "Yes, everything is taken care of. We strangled the cook, burned the tent and other items, and then buried the body and the remaining debris nearby."

"What about Fish Bone's side?"

"Fish Bone's side was a little more troublesome. There were a total of more than a dozen corpses, a little close to the army's garrison. There was no way to burn them. If we burned them, it might alert the troops, so we dragged the corpses to another place and buried them."

"What about those cultural relics and antiques?"

"We put everything back where it was, and then buried it in the sand, creating a primitive, unexcavated site."

"Did the army discover you?"

"No, we finished and left the scene before the army patrol."

"Good, go and rest."

After confirming that there were no omissions, An Wenshan also went to rest.

...

The next day, before dawn, An Wenshan woke up Fatty and Rou Yi.

"It's time to set off."

After being awakened, Fatty and Rou Yi quickly followed An Wenshan and got on their camels to leave. They didn't even have time to eat, An Wenshan told them to eat and drink on the way.

Fatty was a little grumpy from being woken up and said to An Wenshan, "You're acting like a grim reaper so early in the morning. Is that person so eager to see us?"

An Wenshan smiled and said to Fatty, "Changes often happen in the desert, so it's better to send you two out of the desert first. Also, I have some things to deal with and can't delay. Please forgive me."

An Wenshan, Fatty, and Rou Yi left the camp first, while the cook and the two men who had previously pretended to be supply soldiers stayed at the camp to do the finishing work.

Rou Yi asked An Wenshan naively and curiously, "Aren't you taking your partner with you?"

An Wenshan laughed, "That's not my partner, just a working relationship. The desert is vast, you have to have something to relieve the loneliness, right... Even if I don't need it, those two men need it."

An Wenshan's words left Rou Yi speechless.

Seeing Rou Yi's embarrassed expression, Fatty continued An Wenshan's words and explained to Rou Yi, "In this kind of operation disguised as explorers, if there are women in the team, it's less likely to be suspected when they are discovered and investigated."

Fatty's words hit the nail on the head. An Wenshan gave Fatty an approving look, "It's different for someone who has been a special forces soldier."

Fatty responded with a fake smile, "In the past, when enemy agents entered the country, they used women as cover. I'm used to it."

At noon, the three arrived at a provincial highway on the edge of the desert. A jeep was parked at the agreed location, looking like it had been waiting for a long time.

An Wenshan sent Fatty and Rou Yi into the car, but he didn't get in himself.

Fatty and Rou Yi originally thought that An Wenshan would leave with them, but it didn't look like he was going with them.

Fatty asked the reason, and An Wenshan replied, "There are still some things to deal with in the desert. You go first, and we'll meet again if we have the chance."

The jeep's engine started and made a rumbling sound. An Wenshan made a gesture to the driver to leave. The driver stepped on the gas, and the jeep's tires kicked up clouds of dust, speeding east.

After the car carrying Fatty and Rou Yi left, An Wenshan returned to the camp. By then, the two men and one woman in charge of the finishing work had cleaned everything up and were waiting for An Wenshan to return.

Without saying a word, An Wenshan quietly went behind the two men, and before they could react, he instantly pulled out his gun and shot through their heads, splattering their brains all over the ground.

The woman had no ability to resist. Seeing An Wenshan's actions, she knelt on the ground in a panic, begging An Wenshan not to kill her.

An Wenshan ignored the woman's pleas and cruelly shot her dead.

Afterwards, An Wenshan lit a cigarette and sat on a box, as if considering something.

When the cigarette was almost burned to the butt, he flicked it away, took out an entrenching tool from the packed supplies, and dug a deep pit near the camp.

He dragged the bodies and supplies into the pit, put a pile of accelerant inside, and then threw in a torch.

The raging fire burned in the pit, and the evidence of the camp's existence and the three people's bodies were reduced to dust in the undulating dunes.

An Wenshan, with a cigarette in his mouth, used an encrypted satellite phone to contact someone outside: "The two targets have been evacuated, and everything in the desert is finished."

The person on the other end of the phone gave An Wenshan a few simple instructions and then ended the call.

The fire gradually died down, and the pit was full of burnt remains. An Wenshan threw the cigarette he hadn't finished smoking into the pit, then picked up the entrenching tool and filled in the pit.
