Chapter 1 The Showdown

Late at night, Bai Jingyan received a phone call. After hanging up, Nan Nan, draped in a coat, stood beside him and asked, "What's wrong?"

"Soh Nam is looking for me..." Bai Jingyan rubbed his forehead, then smiled. "He must have found out about me secretly transporting supplies. Although it was his secretary who called, I could hear his heavy, angry breathing beside him."

"Then, are you still going?" Nan Nan asked, worried.

"It's been so long, it's about time to confront him..." Bai Jingyan stood up, his expression a bit cold.

An armored military vehicle slowly stopped in front of the Presidential Palace. Bai Jingyan, dressed in a black suit, slowly walked into the hall. After being searched, he walked towards the innermost room of the Presidential Palace.

In the corridor, a group of tall, cold-looking bodyguards stared at Bai Jingyan, their waists bulging, clearly concealing firearms.

The atmosphere within the Presidential Palace was a bit off.

Bai Jingyan's expression didn't change at all, remaining as calm as still water as he went straight to Soh Nam's room and knocked on the door.

"Come in!" Soh Nam's deep voice came from inside.

Bai Jingyan pushed the door open and entered. He saw ten tall, sturdy soldiers in bulletproof vests standing in the room, while Soh Nam, reeking of alcohol, sat on one side of his desk.

"Mr. President, did you call me over so urgently for something?" Bai Jingyan asked calmly, taking off his black suit jacket and sitting on the sofa across from Soh Nam's desk. He began to unbutton the cuffs of his crisp white shirt.

Soh Nam stared at Bai Jingyan like a wild beast, then suddenly asked sternly, "General Bai, I have a question for you! Think carefully before you answer! A wrong answer could cost you your life!"

"..." Bai Jingyan smiled. "What's wrong, Mr. President?"

"Don't talk to me in that tone." Soh Nam pointed at Bai Jingyan's nose with a thick finger and said sharply, "I gave you tremendous trust, but you hid things from me and secretly emptied my national treasury, you shameless thief! Who gave you the authority to reach into my pockets?"

"Oh, so that's what this is about... Because you said before that you wanted to vigorously develop the evolutionary research program, I took that as permission for my actions. So I didn't apply to you. I privately transferred some resources from the national treasury to build new bases in various places. I might have used a little too much recently, so... Heh, you know, getting started is always hard!" Bai Jingyan's attitude was casual, and he slowly rolled his sleeves up to his elbows. "I promise, next time I transfer resources, I'll definitely report to you."

"You say the resources you transferred were all used to build evolutionary bases, good! Now give me the locations of those evolutionary bases, the construction progress, the staff, and the complete blueprints!" Soh Nam stared at Bai Jingyan with a sneer. "Before I had you come here, I already called the commanders of the six military regions. They said these materials were shipped overseas and no bases were built in Murfila!"

"Are you trying to tell me that your evolutionary bases are outside our country?" Soh Nam practically roared the question. "Were all these resources shipped back to Stormwind Island?"

Soh Nam grabbed Bai Jingyan's collar directly, roaring angrily, "Give me back my things!"

If it were any other time, even if Soh Nam knew what Bai Jingyan had done, he might not have been in such a hurry to fall out with Bai Jingyan. But because Soh Nam had already been drinking, coupled with the recent deserters who had upset him, and now the person he trusted most had laid hands on the wealth he cared about most, all these factors combined caused him to explode completely.

Bai Jingyan narrowed his eyes, looked at Soh Nam, and suddenly laughed.

Bai Jingyan stared intently into Soh Nam's eyes, lowered his voice, leaned close to his ear, and whispered, "Have you ever seen a wolf regurgitate the meat it's eaten?"

Soh Nam's eyes widened, looking at Bai Jingyan with shock and anger. At this moment, he seemed to be seeing Bai Jingyan for the first time!

"You... you dare say such things to me? Do you know who gave you everything you have now?" Soh Nam's voice trembled, his expression becoming more and more ferocious. "If I hadn't funded you, you'd still be a savage on Stormwind Island! How dare you steal my things now?"

In fact, from the moment he stepped into the Presidential Palace, Bai Jingyan had faintly sensed that tonight was unusual, because in the past, he had never needed to be searched when he came to the Presidential Palace.

Even if Soh Nam didn't fall out with him, he was prepared to have a showdown with Soh Nam!

"Everything I have, I earned myself." Bai Jingyan gently reached out and pressed down on Soh Nam's wrist, exerting slight force with his fingers. The slender fingers twisted Soh Nam's thick arm out of shape, the sound of bones breaking rang out, Soh Nam screamed, and with a thud, fell onto the desk, screaming continuously.

The ten evolutionary warriors next to him rushed forward instantly, but five of them drew their guns and fired directly at their companions!

"Are you talking about the patrol battalion commander whose wife had a serious illness and was later cured by me with an evolutionary agent?" Bai Jingyan said softly, "If nothing unexpected happens, he should already be outside the Presidential Palace, right?"

As if in response to Bai Jingyan's words, several explosions came from outside the Presidential Palace, accompanied by fierce gunfire.

"The patrol battalion is ordered to take over the Presidential Palace!" A deafening shout came from outside.

Soh Nam trembled all over, but he still didn't give up. "The six military regions, hundreds of thousands of troops, are all outside the city. As long as I give the order, they will step into the capital and crush you into pieces!"
