Chapter 290: Careful of what you wish for [1]
Just like the phantom of the Prime Nexus stated, Tyler became utterly obsessed with Sophia from then on. Losing both of his parents, he felt like Sophia was the only person he now had; the only one who truly cared for him anymore. Though the event itself played out the same way in her original life, she did not know any better at that time; she did not even remember the complete details of it, since it was just too long ago. But this time, Tyler became even more obsessed with her.
Sophia enjoyed the extra attention from his dark and obsessive looks, as well as how he would silently become utterly infuriated with jealousy whenever she talked about any other boys, which brought her great joy, and how he beat up that boy named Jake Parker and his friends to a near-death state. It was an utter bliss in her eyes. His dark obsession, she loved it with every fiber of her being.
Sophia stood on the roof of her school as she asked the visage of Prime Nexus, "The life force of 10 billion humans is necessary for the soul transmigration, what about the other two? For his memories to be intact, and for him to have great potential as a Seeker. What do I need to do for these two?"
The phantom chuckled darkly and revealed, "You need to sacrifice a part of your own potential to give him the ability to walk on the Seekers’ path. The summoning ritual of the Suncrest royal family modified your soul in a way that enables the greatest potential within you. Now, a part of your soul is needed as a catalyst for me to do the same for Tyler."
Then it paused abruptly, revealing the worst part with a dramatic gesture, "And for his memories to be all intact even after the transmigration, you must personally orchestrate his death. You must be the one responsible for it."
Sophia’s face turned utterly black in despair and terror, with an expression of pure rage,
"TELL ME, DO YOU FIND AMUSEMENT IN MY TORMENT? DO YOU? TELL MEEEE......????????"
She roared at the phantom figure. But the phantom only laughed hysterically, she revealed in an alien tone filled with malice, "AS A MATTER OF FACT I DO."
The phantom laughed even more loudly, seeing the tears falling from Sophia’s face,
"What? Did you believe you could actually live a happy life on this earth? Like a sweet couple, yes, this world is real, he is real, you are also very, very real. But did you think it would be so easy? That you would live a loving life with him here. Because you cannot do that in that world, as you would first have to free yourself from the king, assuming you can even live to see that day."
"After all, many valkyries had been killed in the early stages of their journey, or were simply killed by the king of that generation for defying the royal family, before they grew strong enough."
Sophia was unable to respond to any of its statements, nor was she in the mood to do so. She dreamed of a beautiful life she would live with him here, before she would be forced to plunge back into the hell where she belonged, the hell named by the Eldarion continent. Because there, she was more of a weapon than a human, who had no free will of her own, just a puppet.
A few years later -
When everything was finally ready, since she would have to kill him sooner or later, every single second she spent with him, the harder it was for her, the sadder and more disgusting she felt within. These emotions she felt now were more genuine than anything else she had ever felt in all of her 460 reincarnations spanning over 100,000 years. These were real emotions of her own, not of anyone else. And it hurt her just that much.
Sophia never truly felt guilty for having killed so many humans, or maybe just a little perhaps, because would a human feel guilty if they burned down a nest of ants? Probably not, and she mostly pretended to feel guilty in front of Axel when she revealed what she went through in the trial. So that he would not completely see her as a total monster, but thankfully, that went much better than expected; in fact, it went too well. Considering how he didn’t even care about the death of so many, he definitely knew that the world and everything within the trial were real. Perhaps they were both monsters in a way.
But when she had to kill him, it felt like she was killing a part of herself, because he was the only one she ever saw as her equal. The only one who was perhaps the same as her. She clenched her teeth and reached out to her phone with trembling hands. Her fingers trembled slightly as she typed the message, and it took all of her willpower to send it. —the message that was the very beginning of the end.
[Sophia: Hey, we were supposed to go shopping together, remember?]
After a few seconds, his unhinged reply came....expressing displeasure for some reason, which she did not know.
[Tyler: You bitch, you want me to carry all of your bags, dream on.]
[Sophia: BASTARD, you promised you’re gonna come. So, stop with that bullshit and come down in 5 minutes, NOW.]
Then there was no reply for almost a minute as she messaged him again in slight panic,
[Sophia: Fine, the food is on me. Just hurry up already.]
[Tyler: Hehe, now we’re talking. LOL]
[Sophia: And don’t come out looking like a beggar.]
[Tyler: Be quiet before I change my mind.]
[Sophia: Be quiet before I change my mind about paying for your food.]
After that, Sophia hurriedly readied herself in just five minutes, wearing a pink dress that matched her current hair color. Her hand trembled in each of the steps, a part of her almost fighting back against her conscious mind at what was about to happen.
But it did not manage to stop her. As she walked out and their eyes met, he was wearing a light green T-shirt and Black Pants, his hair was a bit on the longer side, and he had those striking ocean blue eyes. Looking at those eyes, she always felt lost. She went closer to him, walking elegantly, and showed him an extremely charming smile.
