Chapter 790: Chapter 790: No Longer Have Feelings for Him
“Yueyue~”
Fu Rongyin looked hurt, his eyes downcast as he gazed at her hand resting beside her.
The ring had long disappeared from that hand, and even the marks of the ring had faded almost to invisibility.
Somehow, Fu Rongyin impulsively grabbed her hand. But before he could speak, Chi Yue withdrew sharply as if she had touched something hot.
Fu Rongyin’s hand paused mid-air, staring blankly at Chi Yue.
Chi Yue had somehow sat up, her face taut. “Fu Rongyin, if you make another move, there will be no need for you to stay in this room any longer.”
Fu Rongyin’s lips tightened.
He knew Chi Yue was difficult to placate, but he hadn’t realized just how difficult. However, it was a torture of his own making, and he was willing to endure it.
Seeing him silent, Chi Yue thought he hadn’t listened, her emotions reaching a breaking point. Barely containing her anger, she said softly, “Three more days, and we’ll be able to get our divorce certificate. Then please keep your distance from my room to avoid any gossip.”
Fu Rongyin turned pale and stood up to leave.
At the door, he suddenly turned back. “Yueyue, won’t you give me a single chance?”
“I’ve given you several chances already; you just didn’t cherish them. It’s too late to say these things now.”
Fu Rongyin looked deeply into her eyes one last time and left.
The door closed, cutting off Chi Yue’s view. She took a deep breath; surprisingly, her heart didn’t feel as heavy as she had expected.
The day was finally arriving. Her patience and the last of her affection had almost been spent by Fu Rongyin.
It was for the best. There would be fewer complications in the future.
However, the next day, Qi Hongwen arrived.
He came bearing many toys and gifts, smiling warmly the moment he saw Chi Yue. “Yueyue, Dad is here to apologize. For appearing around you under a hidden identity recently, there has been some distress.”
Holding Fu Mianmian, Chi Yue’s demeanor was slightly better than it was with Fu Rongyin. “Uncle, don’t bother; we don’t need any of this.”
Seeing her not extending the conversation, Qi Hongwen’s smile stiffened briefly before he shifted his attention to Fu Mianmian. “Mianmian, come here, I am your grandfather. Come to grandfather, let me have a good look at you.”
Fu Mianmian hid behind Chi Yue and cautiously eyed Qi Hongwen. Hearing his words, she looked to Chi Yue with questioning eyes.
Chi Yue gently patted her, but didn’t encourage Fu Mianmian to go over and instead said, “She’s too young and shy around strangers.”
Qi Hongwen stiffened again, his smile fading considerably.
Knowing he had serious matters to discuss, Chi Yue asked the nanny to take Fu Mianmian to the back yard, then sat on the couch furthest from Qi Hongwen.
Qi Hongwen said, “I am here today because of Ah Yin. He has quarreled with me many times too; it was I who forced him to stay and help me. Don’t blame him; he was not in control.”
Chi Yue’s expression remained neutral as she waited for him to continue.
His reference to Fu Rongyin as “Ah Yin” was somewhat surprising to her.
“Ah Yin… went to Beijing actually on my behalf. He thought he would return after finishing the business, but unexpectedly, you went there too and much happened… I am sorry for both of you, for putting my own grandson in harm’s way. Yueyue, please don’t blame him…”
“Did he send you to plead his case? Actually, there’s no need. I could feel he still has some true feelings for me. Even if he still loves me, unfortunately, I no longer feel the same way about him.”
“How… how can you think that he doesn’t have feelings for you? If he didn’t care for you, he wouldn’t have rushed back to see you, only to be exploited by Zhan Youyou and nearly died under your car’s wheels.”
