Chapter 736: Chapter 736: Fu Rongyin Dragged Her Over
Chi Yue looked out of the window and only then did she realize it had started to rain heavily outside.
At that moment, the office door was pushed open. Dai Qiu hesitated, then summoned her courage and said, “Mr. Chi, why don’t you go check it out?”
Chi Yue waved her hand dismissively at her, and after Dai Qiu left, she spoke into the phone.
“Zhan Youyou, if you’re sick, you should see a doctor.”
Having said this, she hung up the phone.
The rain outside got heavier, and Chi Yue couldn’t leave for a while, so she decided to wait until the rain let up before going back.
After calling Fu Mianmian, she sat back at her desk and started to deal with some of the next day’s work in advance.
During this time, Zhan Youyou called her several times, but she didn’t pick up again.
After an unknown period, Dai Qiu knocked on the door from outside, “Mr. Chi, there’s a call for you.”
Chi Yue had the call transferred through, and once she listened, it was Zhan Youyou again.
“Chi Yue, do you really want to see him collapse in front of you before you’re willing to see him?”
Chi Yue repressed her anger and said, “Don’t you want to marry him? If you convince him to go back, you’ll have your chance, won’t you?”
On the other end of the phone, Zhan Youyou was fuming.
She had thought about going to persuade him, but she was now confined in a hotel by Zhan Qing’s people. If she could leave, Chi Yue wouldn’t have gotten involved!
Taking a deep breath, Zhan Youyou continued, “I’m giving you a chance today.”
If it wasn’t for the report from her subordinates that Fu Rongyin had been standing in the rain for hours just for Chi Yue’s forgiveness, she wouldn’t be humbling herself to ask Chi Yue.
Yet Chi Yue didn’t give her a chance at all, hung up the phone, and even blocked her number.
With Zhan Youyou’s calls unable to come through, Chi Yue lost the mood to work.
She packed up and went downstairs, her gaze falling on the man standing at the mouth of the hallway.
The man was tall and stately, with a handsome face and distinct features. He was holding an umbrella in one hand, his defiant eyes fixed on her.
Chi Yue frowned.
Hadn’t Zhan Youyou said he was standing in the rain?
But his clothes were dry at the moment, and the umbrella hadn’t even been used. What was Zhan Youyou playing at?
Before she could figure it out, Fu Rongyin reached out, pulled her over, opened the umbrella, and walked with her into the rain.
By the time Chi Yue came to her senses, she was already sitting in his car.
“Fu Rongyin, what are you all doing?”
One tricked her into coming down, the other silently drove her away.
Fu Rongyin handed her a towel, “Wipe yourself.”
The rain was too heavy; Fu Rongyin’s umbrella was angled towards her, but her clothes and the hem of her skirt had still gotten quite wet. Fu Rongyin’s right side was almost totally soaked, not to mention his trousers.
Chi Yue threw the towel back on him, “Say what you have to say quickly. I need to get back to take care of the kids.”
“You can’t go back today,” Fu Rongyin stated.
“What do you mean?”
“The Qi family people have gone to your place. Going back now would be walking into a trap.”
Chi Yue’s face changed drastically, and she pushed open the car door, attempting to get out, but Fu Rongyin pulled her back in.
“Let me go. Mianmian and her grandma are still at home.”
She struggled hard, but Fu Rongyin simply confined her in his embrace so she couldn’t move.
“They’re not at home; I’ve had someone bring them to the hotel,” he said.
As Chi Yue’s heart was beginning to settle, it suddenly jumped again, “Are you in cahoots with Zhan Youyou?”
“What do you mean by that?”
“You’re taking them away to better control them, aren’t you?”
Fu Rongyin looked at her deeply and started the car.
Fearing her suspicion was true, Chi Yue dialed Chi Jianshan and Fu Mianmian’s numbers several times. Once she confirmed everything was fine on their side, she focused all her attention on Fu Rongyin.
