Chapter 719: Chapter 719: Sorry, It’s My Fault

Fu Mianmian’s face couldn’t hide the loss, but she didn’t show it. She mentioned how Chi Yue was doing now and then reluctantly ended the call.

Chi Yue had soothed her all night before finally stabilizing Fu Mianmian’s emotions. At last, she went back to her room, satisfied, and fell asleep.

In the middle of the night, Chi Yue suddenly woke up, eyes snapping open, and vaguely saw a figure standing at the foot of the bed.

She sat up in shock, turned on the bedside lamp, and froze in the moment.

The man walked over to the bed with long strides, reached out to brush away the hair that fell across her face, but Chi Yue recoiled as if frightened.

The man’s hand paused mid-air for a long time before he withdrew it to his side, “Did I wake you?”

Chi Yue’s heart felt tight, “What exactly do you mean?”

“How’s your recovery? Do you still feel discomfort anywhere?”

Chi Yue held back, but couldn’t help it, “What does it matter if I’m comfortable or not? You had already left, so why are you back?”

The man sighed silently and sat beside her. Before she could retreat, he pulled her into his arms, not letting go no matter how she struggled.

“I’m sorry, it’s my fault, I’ve made you suffer.”

Chi Yue’s nose tingled, and tears were about to fall, when she pushed away Fu Rongyin.

“Why apologize? Do you admit you were wrong?”

The man pulled her back into his arms without a word, his chin resting on top of her head, “Yes, I was wrong.”

After saying that, he didn’t speak again.

Chi Yue felt as if her punches were landing on cotton, leaving her drained.

After a long while, she finally regained her composure, “What about You’er? Nan Yuan said you took You’er away, give her to me.”

“What are you planning to do?”

“Revenge.”

“Yueyue,” Fu Rongyin softened his voice, “She belongs to the Zhan Family, dealing with her requires a long-term plan.”

Chi Yue sneered, “So you returned her to the Zhan Family? Make it clear, Fu Rongyin, I didn’t pursue her because I need to rest now. Once I’m recovered, I will find the Zhan Family for an explanation.”

Fu Rongyin’s expression, usually calm, finally cracked, “You still wish to go to Beijing?”

“Yes! I still have many things unresolved in Beijing and if it weren’t for you forcefully taking me back, with the Zhan Family people watching over her, she wouldn’t dare do anything to me.”

Fu Rongyin’s handsome face turned stony, “I barely got you out of Beijing, and now you want to go back? Do you know how many people in Beijing are watching you!”

“Why are they watching me? It’s all because of you!”

Fu Rongyin was left speechless.

Indeed, Chi Yue was in danger all because of him. If not for his adoption of the identity of Qi Yizhou, perhaps they, a family of three, would have been living a peaceful and harmonious life by now.

“Chi Yue, can’t you listen to me just once? Would I ever harm you?”

“But you did harm me, you played a part in me losing our child, Fu Rongyin, you’re responsible for losing this child, too.”

Chi Yue purposefully targeted his sore spot, seeing his veins pop from her words. While her heart was filled with dense pain, she also felt a surge of satisfaction.

After a long time, Fu Rongyin dejectedly got up and walked towards the door.

“You cannot go to Beijing, trust me, I will resolve this matter soon.”

Just as Fu Rongyin was about to walk out of the room, fury surged within Chi Yue. She grabbed the bedside lamp, swung it with force, crashing it against the door where it fell to the floor, its clang echoing through the night.

“You still refuse to tell me the truth even now, how do you expect me to spend my life with you!”
