Chapter 723: Chapter 723 He Seems... to Have Fainted
Qin Ya remained silent.
Chi Yue initially wanted to say something, but she also thought that if she could use Fu Rongyin to make Fu Xingchuan give up for good, she swallowed the words that had reached her lips.
After a long time, Qin Ya couldn’t sit still any longer, "Since that’s the case, I won’t bother you anymore. Yueyue, if he comes looking for you again, call me."
"Okay. I’ll walk you out."
After sending Qin Ya back to the office, Fu Rongyin hadn’t left.
He leaned against the sofa with his eyes closed, the dark circles under his eyes much worse than during their last encounter.
Chi Yue walked over, "This is where I work, please find somewhere else to rest."
Fu Rongyin didn’t even open his eyes, suddenly grabbed her hand and pulled her into his embrace, burying his head in the nook of her neck.
The all-too-familiar scent immediately enveloped Chi Yue, and not only did she not move, she said coldly, "Do you want me to call the police?"
"Yueyue, I’m so tired, let me hold you for a moment, just for a moment."
If it had been in the past, Chi Yue would have surely softened, but not now.
She abruptly pulled away, keeping a considerable distance from him, then spoke indifferently, "I don’t have time to play with you, please leave."
Fu Rongyin’s eyes remained shut from beginning to end, and he didn’t speak, his thin lips tightly pursed.
Chi Yue waited a while and still didn’t see him open his eyes, so she couldn’t help but step forward, "Fu Rongyin, stop playing games."
Fu Rongyin still gave no response.
A hint of impatience finally appeared on Chi Yue’s usually impassive face. She reached out to push him, but unexpectedly, as soon as she touched him, his body uncontrollably toppled over to one side.
Chi Yue frowned, "Fu Rongyin!"
No response came.
Dai Qiu, hearing the commotion inside, ran in. Upon seeing the situation, her face changed, "Mr. Chi, it looks like he’s... fainted."
...
In the hospital room filled with the smell of disinfectant, Chi Yue had stayed until the evening, and Fu Rongyin’s condition finally stabilized.
The doctor said Fu Rongyin was worn out to this point. He kept saying she was irresponsible, arguing that she should have advised him when he was exhausted to this extent, and also mentioned a bunch of potential complications.
Chi Yue didn’t argue back, sitting quietly to one side and listening.
She indeed was still legally Fu Rongyin’s wife; with outsiders not knowing the full story, there was no need for her to explain.
Come evening, Fu Rongyin’s condition had eased quite a bit. The doctor said he needed rest badly, so they administered a sedative with sleep-inducing properties, and he wouldn’t wake up until at least the next morning.
Seeing that his condition was stable, Chi Yue was ready to leave when Chi Jianshan entered, holding Fu Mianmian in his arms.
"Mommy! Is daddy feeling any better?"
Fu Mianmian climbed down from Chi Jianshan and peered worriedly at Fu Rongyin from the side of the bed.
Chi Yue looked at Chi Jianshan with an inquiring gaze.
Chi Jianshan said that he had picked up Fu Mianmian and that she insisted on finding her, so he took her to the studio, but they found out that she had gone to the hospital. Only after asking did they learn about Fu Rongyin’s collapse.
Chi Jianshan glanced at the pale-faced Fu Rongyin, "What happened to him?"
Chi Yue briefly relayed what the doctor had said.
Chi Jianshan’s eyes filled with pity, "Why put yourselves through this? You could live well, why all these troubles?"
Chi Yue glanced at him, "Am I the one who doesn’t want to live well?"
Chi Jianshan looked at Fu Rongyin again and sighed, "Let’s wait until he wakes up before we discuss this."
Fu Mianmian came over and was unwilling to leave; Chi Yue had no choice but to stay as well.
Fu Mianmian lay in front of the hospital bed, staring at the man on the bed, and every so often she asked, "Mommy, why hasn’t daddy woken up yet?"
