Chapter 748: Chapter 748: Fu Rongyin’s Indifference

“Is there a problem?” the man’s deep voice came from the receiver.

Chu Shuo brought the phone to Chi Yue’s face, and when she shook her head, Chu Shuo reluctantly said into the phone, “There’s been a bit of trouble at your home, can you come back?”

“Can’t make it back.”

He didn’t even ask what the matter was, he just outright refused.

“Your daughter is missing, she was taken away from the kindergarten.”

There was a moment of silence on the other end of the line, followed by his merciless voice, “I know, is there anything else?”

Chu Shuo looked at Chi Yue, who was so shocked that her mouth hung open.

Chu Shuo put away the phone, and with a frown, asked, “Are you okay?”

Chi Yue was not okay at all.

From Fu Rongyin’s attitude, she gleaned that not being able to get through to his phone likely meant she had been blocked.

Chi Yue felt icy cold and blood began to flow backward throughout her body.

She knew it wouldn’t be so smooth for him to go to Beijing, if there wasn’t any danger, he would have kept her and Fu Mianmian by his side.

But now, talking was of no use anymore.

“I don’t get along with Fu Rongyin, it’s normal for him to be indifferent to me. Just give him a call, as long as he’s aware, that’s enough,” she said.

Chu Shuo didn’t know that Chi Yue had already tried calling, and with trembling hands, she dialed Fu Rongyin’s number for the second time.

No miracle occurred, the line was still busy.

Chi Yue didn’t know what to say, looked at Chu Shuo, moved her lips but couldn’t utter a sound.

As astute as Chu Shuo was, he had realized that something must be wrong on Fu Rongyin’s end, still, he comforted her, “He may be tied up, let’s not worry about him for now, what’s more important is Mianmian. Besides, even if he really could come back, it would take several hours, and maybe by then Mianmian has already been found.”

Chi Yue didn’t speak, her mind was filled with Fu Rongyin’s indifference upon learning of Fu Mianmian’s disappearance.

She remembered the certainty in Zhan Youyou’s voice when she had called her, a flash of insight crossed her mind, then she dismissed it as impossible, but apart from that, she couldn’t think of a better explanation.

Although Chi Jianshan knew the police had gone to find people, he still couldn’t bear to leave the surveillance monitors, switching from one screen to another.

Half an hour later, Chi Jianshan suddenly stood up from his chair, his expression filled with excitement, “Mianmian hasn’t left the kindergarten, she’s still inside!”

There were two police officers on site, who upon hearing Chi Jianshan’s words, gathered around.

Chi Jianshan restrained his excitement, pointed out what he had discovered step by step, and the police realized something was wrong. They called for backup immediately, secured all exits of the kindergarten, and started a thorough search with their teams.

Chi Yue, catching on later, rushed out.

The kindergarten wasn’t huge, but to search every possible hiding spot for a child was not easy.

Chi Yue went to the neighboring classroom, and soon Chu Shuo followed her in.

The two exhibited a silent coordination, not overlooking any detail in the classroom.

After searching one classroom and finding nothing, they moved on to the next, and after three classrooms, they arrived at the storeroom.

In theory, the storeroom should be locked, because the kids at the kindergarten are young and items inside could hurt them.

But now, the lock on the storeroom was open.

The two exchanged glances, cautiously pushed the door open, and Chu Shuo instinctively grabbed a walking stick behind the door, following Chi Yue inside.

Chi Yue walked up to a cupboard, ready to open it, but Chu Shuo pulled her back behind him.

His hand gripped the makeshift weapon tightly, while his other hand reached for the door. The movement scared Chi Yue, making her tense all over.

The next second, Chu Shuo opened the cupboard door.

“Mianmian!” Chi Yue exclaimed, rushing forward to take Fu Mianmian out of the cupboard.

Fu Mianmian’s eyes were tightly shut, and no matter how much Chi Yue called her, there was no response.

Chu Shuo, holding her, said, “To the hospital, quickly.”

Chi Yue was shaking all over, and after a few steps, couldn’t walk anymore. Chu Shuo took the child from her, “Keep up.”

Many onlookers caught a glimpse of the commotion with Chu Shuo and Chi Yue, heard the murmuring of Fu Mianmian’s name, and while they sighed in relief, they also felt a tug of worry.

The child looked completely unconscious, could it be something serious?
