Chapter 626: Chapter 626: Chi Yue saw the emotions emerging in the man’s eyes, quite angry
Fu Rongyin’s hand suddenly clenched the phone, his brows furrowed with unquenchable fury.
Yet, Xi Yihang sent him another text message: "Regret it?"
Fu Rongyin mulled over the meaning of these words multiple times until, at last, with a stony face, he tossed his phone aside and drove away.
—
Chi Yue had seen Fu Xingchuan off and visited Fu Mianmian. She stayed in the children’s room for quite a while before heading back to her own room.
After taking a shower, she found an additional person in her room.
Seeing Fu Rongyin amidst his raging anger, Chi Yue’s instinct was to flee.
The last time he had that look on his face, nothing good happened.
However, just as her hand touched the doorknob, Fu Rongyin lifted her into the air, hurling her onto the bed.
The man then leaned over her, pinning her waist to prevent her from moving.
Chi Yue could smell the intense scent of tobacco on him, which left her momentarily startled.
He rarely smoked, let alone heavily, and the scent was so strong that he must have been smoking nonstop before coming here.
As she was contemplating this, the tobacco-laden air enveloped her breath. She quickly pushed him away, but as soon as her hand touched him, he grabbed it and pinned it above her head.
Chi Yue wouldn’t submit without a fight and struggled continuously. Her loosely tied bathrobe could not withstand the struggle and came undone, slipping down significantly.
Chi Yue could see the emotions in the man’s eyes and grew even angrier.
She bit him, neither too lightly nor too fiercely, and took advantage of his moment of pain to push him forcefully away.
She stumbled behind the door, clutching her bathrobe, and warned, "If you come any closer, I’ll go out and call for help."
Of course, unless it was absolutely necessary, she didn’t want to appear in front of Chi Jianshan like this.
Fu Rongyin sat on the edge of the bed, his expression inscrutable.
He studied her freely, his gaze growing more and more dangerous.
Chi Yue’s hand subtly gripped the doorknob, ready to open the door and leave at the slightest movement from him.
Yet she waited for quite a long time without him making any move.
The early spring weather was still a bit cool, and Chi Yue involuntarily tightened her grip on the bathrobe.
Then, she saw Fu Rongyin walk over and drape his jacket over her.
Chi Yue, unable to stand the smell of tobacco, pushed the jacket back with a cold face, "Aren’t you leaving?"
Fu Rongyin didn’t catch the jacket, and it fell to the floor, lying between them.
Chi Yue pursed her lips, about to bend down to pick it up, when the man picked up the clothes faster than her and stepped back.
Chi Yue moved to the side, he opened the door and stepped out, closing it behind him.
The night was very quiet, and the sound of the door shutting downstairs was so clear that Chi Yue’s heart couldn’t calm down.
Not until the sound of the engine faded away did she lie back down in bed.
Perhaps it was because Fu Rongyin had been sitting there earlier, but she could smell a faint scent of tobacco, which resulted in a night of restless sleep.
The next day, she woke up yawning repeatedly, and even Fu Mianmian noticed she was not herself.
"You shouldn’t work so hard. You’re the boss. Let the employees do things you don’t have to do," Chi Jianshan couldn’t resist speaking up after holding back.
Chi Yue responded nonchalantly, "You know I love my job. If I didn’t want to do it, I wouldn’t have come back here specifically."
Chi Jianshan recalled how she had insisted on choosing a biology degree during her college application. It seemed now that she truly loved it.
"Well, go ahead and do it, but pay attention to your limits."
"Mhm, I know."
"Mommy," Fu Mianmian suddenly called her, "don’t forget, we have a date with Daddy to go to the amusement park today."
Chi Yue was taken aback, remembering that she had promised Fu Mianmian this during her hospital stay; she had set today’s date to allow herself enough time to rest.
Who knew that in just a short half-month, everything would have changed?
Chi Yue soothed her, "Your daddy’s busy. How about Grandpa and I take you instead?"
Fu Mianmian shook her head, "Grandpa is old and there are a lot of rides he can’t go on."
Chi Yue thought of Fu Xingchuan and said, "How about I ask an uncle to come along? He can accompany you on the rides that Mommy is too scared to go on."
She sent a message to Fu Xingchuan asking him, and he readily agreed from the other side.
However, Fu Mianmian was still not happy. After getting in the car, she insisted on calling Fu Rong. Chi Yue couldn’t talk her out of it, so she handed over the phone to her.
