Fu Rongyin knew her actions as if he had a grip on her pulse. If it were not for the people he had planted beside her, how could he have understood her so clearly?
“I’ll handle this matter, don’t let her in again next time.”
“Do you think it’s my fault she came in? Fu Rongyin, if it weren’t for your sake, do you think I would bother spending time dealing with her?”
Chi Yue thought about the past and felt increasingly resentful. She suppressed her temper and said, “Who I associate with is my freedom. If you don’t like it, just stop managing my affairs, so you won’t have to be upset about it.”
She said this while gathering her things and took her bag to leave.
It was still early, and there was some time before Fu Mianmian would finish school, but she figured she would almost make it there if she left now.
She had been driving to work these past days for her own convenience.
Perhaps preoccupied with heavy thoughts, Chi Yue had a slight collision with a turning car at the intersection. Still unsettled, she sat in her car, staring dazedly as the other driver got out to discuss how to handle the situation.
There wasn’t much damage to the car, and no one in the other vehicle was injured, so Chi Yue suggested calling the police and moving the cars to the side to wait for the traffic police.
Just then, someone stepped out from the other car, and to Chi Yue’s surprise, it was Old Qi from the Qi family.
He hadn’t yet left Nancheng.
Old Qi approached her, and she greeted him first.
Old Qi glanced at her car and said, “There’s no need to go through the insurance trouble. It was I who instructed my driver to block you.”
Chi Yue frowned, not understanding his meaning.
Old Qi said, “Later, someone will contact you to discuss the compensation for the car. Now, let’s talk about the matter I proposed last time. Have you considered it?”
Chi Yue shook her head, “Sorry, but I maintain my position that this matter requires the consent of the concerned parties.”
Old Qi said meaningfully, “Haven’t you doubted my identity in these few days? Being as smart as you are, you should have guessed our relationship. Personally, aren’t you the least bit curious about Fu Rongyin’s identity?”
“If you were certain of his identity, you wouldn’t be approaching me, right?” Chi Yue retorted.
Mr. Qi finally looked at Chi Yue seriously.
“Indeed, quite a stubborn girl. You surely know where I’m from. If you consider his current status, you shouldn’t reject my proposal.”
Chi Yue wasn’t afraid of him in the least.
“How can I be sure whether your intentions for him are genuine? Sir, I’m about to divorce him, and even if I wanted to intervene in this matter, I couldn’t.”
After speaking, she looked at her car, “I’ll get the car fixed myself.”
She opened the door to get into her car, but Mr. Qi spoke again.
“My girl, don’t be hasty in rejecting me. Go back and give it some thought. I’ll be staying here for a while, so you can come to me once you’ve made up your mind.”
Chi Yue didn’t understand why Old Qi didn’t go directly to Fu Rongyin. After all, approaching him would be much more efficient for this matter.
She was about to say something more when a large hand pressed on her shoulder, and she heard Fu Rongyin’s clear voice by her side.
“This gentleman, I will contact a lawyer and insurance company for the compensation. My wife is timid, please do not scare her.”
Saying this, he escorted Chi Yue into his own car and left his secretary behind to deal with the proceedings.
Chi Yue clearly saw a glint in Mr. Qi’s eyes at the moment he saw Fu Rongyin.
If the old man was willing to speak up, it would have been a perfect opportunity; however, Mr. Qi didn’t say a word, and Fu Rongyin didn’t give him the chance to do so.
