Chapter 1785: Chapter 1785: Unraveling the Threads, Grasping the Tail!
This Spirit-Separation Sect is indeed mysterious!
Why does it sound like a research lab?
Researching the art of the Divine Spirit, using it to create powerful spirit creatures, and then selling them?
Isn’t this just like developing patented technology in a lab, selling it for profit, and then investing back into researching new technology?
Carson Flores asked carefully again, confirming the approximate area where he fainted before.
The man also recounted three years of life in the Spirit-Separation Sect, Carson asking in great detail. After all, if he finds the Spirit-Separation Sect, he’s likely to go in; the more he knows, the better.
"The Sect Array of the Spirit-Separation Sect has a flaw. It might be due to prolonged time, causing wear and tear in the array without anyone noticing, resulting in a weak spot, which lies right behind the row of houses where the slaves stay."
"I’m an Array Master and also dabble in Artifact Refining. That’s why I crafted a few little things to conceal my presence, eventually escaping through that weak spot. But whether they’ve since checked and compensated for it, I’m not sure."
After clearing everything up, Carson asked, "Did you come to see me, hoping I would deal with the Spirit-Separation Sect?"
The man laughed bitterly, "Of course, more for the Spirit Stones. If you are to deal with the Spirit-Separation Sect, I’d be happier, since those years as a slave were worse than death. However, if you choose not to, I don’t mind either. I cannot afford to provoke them; I just want to stay far away. They’re too terrifying."
Carson asked, "I offered a million bounty for the accurate address of the Spirit-Separation Sect... How much do you think is appropriate for what you’ve provided?"
The man hesitated, finally saying, "I don’t know the exact location of the Spirit-Separation Sect. You decide how much to give."
In the end, Carson gave him five hundred thousand Spirit Stones, partly for his information and partly because he genuinely felt sorry for this guy.
Even though he didn’t get the exact address, the man’s detailed three-year underground life gave Carson a lot of understanding about the Spirit-Separation Sect. He speculated that the place where he fainted was probably near the Spirit-Separation Sect, likely discovered by their disciples and taken back.
Carson decided to visit the Gilded Sands Desert in person. He might get lucky and run into the disciples of the Spirit-Separation Sect directly.
Carson reached Seven Peak City, located at the edge of the Gilded Sands Desert.
Comparing the map, the place where the man’s incident happened was closest to this city, and its scale was exceptionally large.
The Spirit-Separation Sect living in the desert certainly needs various supplies, so would they procure goods in Seven Peak City?
Carson pondered along the way, and by the time he entered Seven Peak City, he already had an idea.
The man had mentioned during the recount that the people from the Spirit-Separation Sect used a large amount of Soul Hook Five-Flavor Herb, a precious herbal material reportedly used for tempering the out-of-body Divine Spirit.
Key point: a large amount!
Carson, being both a Pill Master and a Physician, knew that although the Soul Hook Five-Flavor Herb can be used for Alchemy or medical treatment, cases are rare, and the quantity used isn’t much.
Whoever purchases a large amount of Soul Hook Five-Flavor Herb is most likely a disciple of the Spirit-Separation Sect or their proxy.
Carson wandered around Seven Peak City and after some inquiries with the locals, eventually focused on the city’s largest herbal shop, Myriad Medicine Pavilion.
Carson did not recklessly enter the shop to ask around but rather waited until the shop clerk got off work, then followed him.
"Friend, ten thousand Spirit Stones for some information, how about it?"
The clerk was dumbfounded by the ten thousand Spirit Stones. As a low-level Cultivator, how long would it take him to earn that much?
"Sir, what do you want to know?"
Carson asked, "Does your shop carry the Soul Hook Five-Flavor Herb?"
"Yes!"
Carson continued, "Does anyone purchase it in large batches regularly or even in large batches at once?"
The clerk blinked, his expression hesitant.
Carson’s eyes lit up, "I’m just seeking some information; it has nothing to do with you, and I won’t tell anyone about this."
The clerk bit his lip and said, "There is a customer who has our firm purchase large quantities of Soul Hook Five-Flavor Herb for them regularly. However much we gather, they take, and they pay generously, allowing us to make a good profit."
Carson asked, "Do you know who this customer is?"
"No."
The clerk replied, "Each time, they first leave a hefty deposit before picking up the order themselves. Our firm’s merchant ship comes roughly every three months, and they appear a few days after, taking away all the Soul Hook Five-Flavor Herb while leaving another deposit."
Carson’s heart was overjoyed, "How long ago was their last visit?"
"More than two months ago. Uhm, our firm’s merchant ship is due in four or five days, normally they’d come to get the goods about ten days after."
Carson was now quite assured; this person picking up the goods most likely has ties to the Spirit-Separation Sect!
He has to lie in wait patiently now.
Carson readily handed the ten thousand Spirit Stones to the clerk and took out a Communication Talisman, handing it to him.
"This is a Communication Talisman. If they come, quietly tear this and let me know. I’ll give you another ten thousand Spirit Stones, agreed?"
