Chapter 749 Multifaceted

Chapter 2 The Second Army Corps Guards the Starfield

"My heavens, Youyou, are you really alright?"

Yun Anan, as a junior majoring in medicine, was assigned to the Second Army Corps last year. To her surprise, she met her former classmates from her freshman and sophomore years.

The school's restructuring came without warning. She often chatted with her peers, lamenting how old she was getting.

But in the past two days, she never expected so many things to happen. Leng Youyou, her roommate in college, was actually at the scene on Qilan Star.

"It's okay now. The most dangerous time has passed."

Leng Youyou's clothes were quite wrinkled, and some of the long hair that had been neatly styled under her sterile cap had come loose.

Yun Anan could tell from her appearance that she must have been extremely busy earlier. The fact that she could chat with her now meant that the busiest time had indeed passed.

While Leng Youyou drank water to replenish her strength, she looked at the other end of the video call and noticed that Yun Anan's background was different from usual.

"You're not at the medical center?"

"Ah, I'm temporarily working as a doctor with a group of dispatched teams, on a starship."

As she spoke, Yun Anan walked to the window to show Leng Youyou where she was. The beautiful galaxy outside was captivating.

"The magnificent scenery of the Imperial Central Region!"

Leng Youyou couldn't help but admire the scenery there. She subconsciously looked up at the sky above Qilan Star. Originally, there was a stunning aurora at night, but now the sky was filled with the smoke of war and electrified dust. She didn't know how long it would take to return to its former state.

"It was so dangerous on your side this time~" Yun Anan seemed to hear some noisy background sounds from Leng Youyou's side and couldn't help but sigh.

"The atmosphere in the legion suddenly became tense a few days ago. I thought even we would be fighting, but we weren't."

As a military doctor, Yun Anan didn't receive as much information as the combat personnel, but she still had her intuition.

"Um… how many people were supporting you over there?"

"What do you think?" Leng Youyou finished her water and finally had time to tidy her hair. While tidying, she said, "People from the Third, Fourth, and Fifth Army Corps came."

"Ah… oh."

Yun Anan felt a little embarrassed. Although she wasn't responsible, as a member of the Second Army Corps, she felt somewhat ashamed to hear this.

"It's good that everyone is safe, safe… Then, is Wen Ye alright? Wasn't he with you in the Sixth Army Corps?"

Wen Ye was Leng Youyou's boyfriend, one year younger than her. He was a handsome, petite young man, and Yun Anan was surprised that Leng Youyou, such a mature and beautiful woman, had found such a "young boyfriend."

"He kept his life." Leng Youyou's tone was calm, but with a suppressed anger. "Things will get better in the future. It's good he's still alive…"

"Okay, I have to get busy, I'll hang up first." Yun Anan didn't know if she was really busy, or if she had touched a nerve, but Leng Youyou hung up the video call. Yun Anan felt empty and a little helpless.

It seemed that things weren't as simple as Leng Youyou had said. Yun Anan moved her gaze to the window, intending to calm herself, but the starship suddenly sent out a warning.

"What happened?"

She went out and stopped a soldier who wasn't wearing a combat uniform. The soldier looked at Yun Anan and said, "An unknown force is approaching through the wormhole."

"Hmm? Unknown force?"

Yun Anan was confused by this term.

Just as she was wondering, the starship suddenly shook. She immediately grabbed the wall and followed the soldier to the door of the command room. Although she couldn't enter due to the security measures, she was stunned by the sight of a combat starship even larger than theirs appearing outside the panoramic window in the command room.

"Which legion is that?"

Yun Anan didn't think that the starship in front of them, which was one size larger than theirs, was some kind of space pirate trying to die here. Judging by its size, it looked like a warship from another legion.

She just didn't know who it was.

She couldn't see it from her perspective, but the people in the command room weren't fools. They could see the huge Fifth Army Corps symbol.

Therefore, it was inevitable that they would be stopped and questioned. However, the other party didn't stop and asked before they could: "Hey! Did you guys see a *liuying* fly past?"

"What?!"

"What are you talking about?"

"*Liuying*! Damn it, it might have run off!"

Hearing the cursing from the other starship's commander, the Second Army Corps gradually turned from confusion to panic.

"Damn it! How could there be a *liuying*?!"

"Just now, Major General Hu led the reinforcements, and we went to support them, right? Then a huge *liuying* flew away from us with a 'whoosh'! We chased it all the way…"

"Get to the point!"

The commander of the Second Army Corps, who was stationed at the wormhole, thought that the commander from the Fifth Army Corps was a moron.

"Ah. Didn't catch it, until now."

The Second Army Corps commander: ???

What the hell?

"That *liuying* is incredibly awesome, it knows the way to so many wormholes in the Empire! My god, I don't even know them!"

Listening to the exaggerated tone of the person on the other side, the commanders of the Second Army Corps looked at each other, seeing helplessness and shock in each other's eyes!

"Wait, you entrusted such an important capture to this…" A deputy commander turned off the microphone, his eyes complicated, and said, "Aren't you afraid of messing things up with such an unreliable person?"

"Now is not the time to worry about messing things up. If what they said is true, and the *liuying* has run off…" The commander had no time to consider the intelligence level of the commander on the other side or their abilities.

If the *liuying* really reached here and was lost, they would be in big trouble.

The worst thing was that the other side was now impatiently saying, "Hey, are you going to let us go or not? What about that *liuying*? If you don't catch it, we have to chase it! I'm getting anxious!"

Mingmei and the others stared blankly at the commander's acting skills, their mouths agape. Mingmei looked at Wang Wenfei beside her and saw that she seemed to have known about her senior's talent, which was why she had suggested this method.

It seemed to be working?

The sudden appearance of a *liuying* within the Empire was no small matter. Sairus's first reaction was that the Fifth Army Corps was lying to him and that they had ulterior motives.

But the next moment, when he saw the report from above about the Fifth Army Corps following the *liuying*'s escape route, he clenched his fist. Even many legions themselves didn't know about some of the Empire's hidden warp wormholes.

If a *liuying* knew so much, then it was related to that thing on Hua Lan Star…

"What?! You search, and we go back?!"

Mingmei and the others didn't expect this answer!

Even Wang Wenfei was stunned. She couldn't understand!

The *liuying* was so dangerous, how could the people of the Second Army Corps let them go back and search on their own? Weren't they worried that something big would happen and they would be in big trouble?

"Now that you've arrived in the territory of the Second Army Corps, we certainly have the responsibility to pursue it. You can go back and rest, after all, you've been chasing it for so long."

"No way! We've been chasing it for so long, you want us to leave? Are we going to let the credit slip away?"

The senior, who had just been pretending to be a fool, now had a different face, a petty person trying to take advantage.

"We worked so hard to drive the *liuying* here, there's no reason to let go at the end, right? Don't think you can bully us because we're fewer in number. We're better at capturing than you fancy decorations!"

"Say that again?!"

"Ha! Did I say it wrong? Occupying the most comfortable and prosperous territory, you haven't had a war in decades. Don't you know how good you are at fighting? We wouldn't feel safe leaving you alone!"

The Second Army Corps: !!!
