Wanqi Siling
Chapter 446 Argument
That night, Mingmei had a dream.
She seemed to return to that dream, watching the prototype of the bug's transformation. The human figure with long hair that flashed in the white light was now changing in front of her as if in slow motion.
A pair of light purple eyes looked at her, eyes that Mingmei had never seen before, pure purple, like flawless purple sapphires.
But soon, the figure rapidly expanded and turned into a terrifying bug once again!
"Ah!"
Mingmei couldn't help but scream, waking herself up in the process.
Turning her head to look at the optical computer on her wrist, the time display showed that only three hours had passed since she fell asleep.
Mingmei turned over. The dream she had just had was too vivid, so much so that she still saw the scene from the dream when she closed her eyes.
She was not sleepy anymore, but she still felt restless.
"Guigui? Are you asleep?"
[Sleeping is impossible, but I think you are disturbing my private brain space.] Guigui was surfing the StarNet when she was called back by her host.
"I have something to ask you."
[I can answer anything that is not an emotional question.]
Mingmei: "..."
She felt like her AI might be thinking the wrong way.
"What do you think is the reason why someone dreams?"
[Different disciplines have different explanations for dreams. Which one do you want to hear?]
"Oh... then what does it mean to dream of a bug turning into a human?"
[Host, I am not good at interpreting dreams.]
Mingmei: "..."
Was their tacit understanding too low?
Why was Guigui giving her irrelevant answers?
"I mean... I dreamed of the scene when the Zerg in the game transformed... Before it turned into the Xingyan Bug, it seemed to turn into a human for a moment."
[Are you sure?]
Guigui became genuinely interested in Mingmei's question.
"That's why I said it was a dream. I don't know if it's real. What do you think?"
Mingmei twisted her legs around the blanket, turned over, reached out and turned on the bedside lamp, and then sat up straight.
She was really not sleepy now.
"Isn't it possible that your brain integrated some of your memories and experiences while you were asleep, causing you to piece together two unrelated memories into a dream?"
"Is that so?"
Mingmei was a little confused. The scene in the dream was too clear, and Mingmei once thought that the scene was actually real.
"But I don't know anyone in real life whose eyes are that kind of blue-purple! And, I don't think there were any traces of splicing in that dream?"
[So, you suspect that this is your unconscious memory being expressed in the dream?]
"I'm asking you! Why do you keep asking me what's going on?"
[But I really don't know. You know, when a person describes things related to themselves, they are usually not comprehensive, but rather exaggerate or magnify certain aspects, while ignoring others.]
Mingmei listened to Guigui's long speech that seemed to be full of great principles, but in fact, it didn't say anything. Mingmei leaned her body to the side very honestly and said, "Great, I knew you were unreliable."
Guigui: [...]
[But I can also help you report this matter to the Main Brain.]
"Huh?"
Mingmei, who was about to close her eyes and prepare to sleep, realized something was wrong and opened her eyes again.
"Aren't you going to tell my uncle about this? Also, Godfather, you can contact him now?"
Ever since she learned that Liu Liu had accidentally been attacked by the Zerg in the game, the Main Brain had not shown up because of this incident. Mingmei had not been able to contact him either. It was only recently that the Main Brain sent a message saying that everything was safe and that he was recuperating.
Mingmei did not choose to contact him immediately. Today, she suddenly heard Guigui report the game to the Main Brain, but did not choose to tell Yan Hui. Mingmei suddenly realized that Guigui's attitude towards her uncle seemed a little strange today.
[Mr. Yan Hui, as the designer of the game, has a much clearer understanding of the data than we do. You, who rely on dreams to realize something is wrong... either you are dreaming, or it is real.
Since it is real, I don't believe that Mr. Yan Hui's wisdom would not know about it?
But looking at the appearance of the Enforcers today, I think the Main Brain may not be clear about this, so I think it is necessary to tell the Main Brain.]
Listening to Guigui's tone, Mingmei was even more certain that Guigui seemed to have a negative view of her uncle.
"Will you do anything in the game because you don't like my uncle?"
[Host, what do you mean?]
"I mean doing things that you think are right without my permission."
[What is 'things that I think are right'? How do you define what you think is right? Are you saying that our values are not in line? Host, you can doubt my IQ, but you can't say that I have bad morals!]
Mingmei: ???
Was that what she meant?
And so, in the middle of the night, one person's private time was interrupted, and another was just awakened by a dream and was not in a good mood. The two, one human and one AI, suddenly started arguing...
"So Guigui is ignoring you now?"
The next morning after class, Mingmei followed Mu Chen to the top of the teaching building. While eating, she told him about how she had lost her temper and quarreled with Guigui last night.
"So, you actually want to believe your uncle more, and Guigui wants to believe the Main Brain more. You argued because you were standing at different angles?"
This was the first time Mu Chen had heard of a person arguing with an AI.
It had to be said that an AI with human emotions was indeed an amazing existence.
"It's not that I want to believe one more than the other. One is my Godfather and the others, and the other is my uncle. Of course, I hope there are no conflicts between them.
If Guigui tells my Godfather about the anomaly I discovered without telling my uncle, and then my Godfather realizes something is wrong and turns around to find my uncle, what if my uncle doesn't know how the Main Brain found out and suspects my Godfather of monitoring him all the time? Wouldn't they start arguing?"
"But if you realize that something might cause misunderstandings and arguments if it is not said, you should choose the right time to tell them."
"For example?"
Mingmei wanted to hear Mu Chen's suggestion.
"When your AI tells the Main Brain, shouldn't you tell your uncle what you discovered? By the way, for the sake of your AI, you can also tell your uncle that you asked the Main Brain because you were a little at a loss.
That way, no matter what the inside story is, Mr. Yan Hui will at least know what happened, right? There will be a buffer opportunity?"
"So, you also suspect that my uncle did something bad?"
Mingmei frowned as she listened to Mu Chen's words. Why did it seem like everyone had decided that Yan Hui had done something bad?
"Not bad things... However, Mr. Yan Hui may indeed have something that he doesn't want others to know."
Based on his experience of squatting in the game for 50 years, Mu Chen could be sure that Yan Hui was indeed hiding something from others.
However, the Main Brain might know about this.
Don't ask Mu Chen how he knew, because less than half a day later, Mingmei sent him good news - she had reconciled with her AI.
Although Mingmei apologized first, Guigui was very understanding and apologized to Mingmei as well.
Because the feedback from the Main Brain was that he knew about everything Yan Hui had done and had allowed it.
