Chapter 836: Reaching The Maximum Level!!!
“Yes.”
“You know our home back there wasn’t really owned by us, but given to us by the Dominare Family.”
“Kinda have to do with Morgaine being the Choosen and all that…but?”
FUUUUUUUU
“Ryuk, do not allow anything given to you as a boon give you absolute piece of mind, nor have you placing all your hopes on it anytime,” Old Jack said, as he looked at him square in the eyes.
“Because the reality of boons is often times they can always be taken back.”
“If you attach your sense of self or peace to it, then once it is taken back, you don’t just lose the boon, you know what else you lose?” He asked, and Ryuk hmmed under his breath.
“Whatever it is you attached to it,”
“Exactly. In a way, that house, which seemed like a well-wish, could have been the Dominae family’s way of secretly having some control over us.”
“A way to keep us docile, cause without them we may lose our house.”
“That was why I tried to get somewhere else, and this place, I’m quite confident in.”
“It wasn’t a well-wish, but given because of the effort I put into the Nobita Family. If I falter at my duty, then naturally it will be taken away.”
“It gives more peace of mind knowing it is earned from my own efforts than simply given as mercy or pity.”
“So…that’s why all of you being here is a dream coming true.”
“You understand my deeper meaning, no?” He asked, Ryuk, who raised his head, looking at the half-peeking sun through the golden clouds.
“I understand,”
He said, and Old Jack exhaled a puff of smoke, a smile tugging at the corner of his lips.
Silently, they remained sitting, before Ryuk rose, when the Sun completely exited the clouds.
“I need to be somewhere,” he said, turning to Old Jack, who waved off.
“Go ahead,”
“Morgaine is still asleep now,” Ryuk said, turning to look at Old Jack.
“I’m sure Mrs. Lynia told you about the replaced consciousness,” he said, watching him nod.
“According to my calculations, then the one who should wake up should be the real Morgaine. But, hey, Old Jack, nothing is absolute,” he said, watching as the man’s eyebrows creased.
“What are you trying to say?”
“If Morgaine wakes up, and you feel even a little bit that the one you’re talking to is not your daughter. Exit the house and call security…” He said, watching as a glint flashed in his eyes.
“The one who is sharing her consciousness is an ancient monster. But don’t worry, even if she wakes up, she should be very weak. She has lost her wings and lost her weapon.”
“Without them, you should be able to escape, and anyone at the Apocrypha stage should be able to restrain her easily.”
“Of course, this is just in case. I’m sure Morgaine will gain back her control. She’s your daughter after all,” he added, levitating off the building and rising higher into the air.
Old Jack also finished his cigarette; the end of it turned to ashes as he turned back and waved to Ryuk.
“I’ll send you a text when she wakes up,” he said, moving back inside, and Ryuk became a glitch that faded into the space, disappearing completely.
______
“You’re finally here,”
The words echoed the moment the elevator opened, and Ryuk stepped in.
He had promised Zafree that he would be back by morning the other night.
Irisi jumped into his arms when he got into the room, as he spun her around before settling her on his neck.
“Anyone need a little early morning sun bath?” He asked, watching Zaffree immediately jump from the bed, tip-toeing to the elevator.
A few seconds later, they arrived before the sea once more.
This time, Ryuk allowed Iris to swim with Zaffree, and her gleeful scream as she raced out was ear-deafening.
His frost grimoire appeared, and he conjured a chair of ice on the water before taking his seat, exhaling in relief as he fell onto its cold embrace, which managed to numb his thoughts for a while.
He spent an entire hour doing nothing but taking deep breaths in and out, and only opened his eyes when the notification flashed.
[Host’s Emotional Dissonance has been Queeled.]
[Intelligence has now gained its Max Effects.]
The truth was, even after Ryuk left the Dominare Grounds, his anger never quelled.
Anytime he thought back to the fight, he felt his anger brew once more, and the sight of Morgaine seemed to worsen that anger in him.
Especially when he heard the Grand Elder’s reason why Morgaine had allowed herself to be fused with such a consciousness.
He had done all he could to rein it down, but he knew he just needed to leave that place.
Only here could he let it all out without bringing destruction, the tingling laughter in the background only aiding him.
[Host has completed the Mission: Bring an End to Morgaine Being Choosen.]
[Rewards:

“Final Level Up Card?” Ryuk asked with a raised eyebrow, looking at the bizarre reward.
‘Final Level Up Card? What’s that supposed to mean?”
But before he could question, the notification flashed.
[Does Host Wish to Use Level Up Card?]
“Yes…” He agreed reflexively, and the notification blinked.
