Chapter 161 Making a Fortune

Chapter 1 The Arena

After receiving his ticket, Lin En was teleported to the spectator stands upon entering the arena.

A deafening roar erupted. Lin En realized his timing was perfect, as the ten gladiators had just emerged, igniting the crowd's excitement.

Scanning the audience, Lin En noticed that they were, on average, at the seventh or eighth tier. He hadn't checked the world chat channel in a while and was unaware of the current average level. He hadn't expected it to be this high.

However, looking at the frenzied crowd, Lin En was somewhat puzzled.

"Whatever," he thought, ignoring them and focusing on the arena below. The first duel was about to begin.

Soon, a massive beetle charged into the arena. Judging by its huge horns, it was likely a stag beetle or something similar.

The stag beetle roared incessantly, its blood-red eyes fixed on the duelist's platform.

The duelist platform soon descended, and the first duelist entered the arena.

Lin En observed the insect and the human below. Both were at the seventh tier, suggesting a close match.

However, Lin En knew this would be a one-sided battle. Why? Because the human's weapon was at the eighth tier, and even their clothing was at the eighth tier.

The beetle, on the other hand, was unremarkable after appraisal. It supposedly had a talent for immense strength, but it had mutated, resulting in a giant shell. While its defense had increased, it had sacrificed speed.

Therefore, Lin En was confident the beetle wouldn't win.

As expected, after the duel began, the duelist initially circled the beetle, testing its movements. Upon realizing the beetle couldn't keep up, the duelist began a targeted assault, focusing on its joints and weak spots.

In the end, the beetle met a tragic end.

Lin En was quite satisfied, since he had bet on the duelist. A demigod-tier artifact was at stake. He wondered what the arena would offer: another demigod-tier artifact, or something of equal value.

The surrounding spectators were just then reacting, some with joy, others with sorrow.

"Yes! Hahaha, I won! I bet a seventh-tier weapon, what a profit! Hahaha!"

"Damn it! It grew so big for nothing! It just got outmaneuvered! Crap!"

"Glad I didn't bet. I was thinking of betting on the beetle, but it was all show and no substance."

"Roar! Roar!"

Listening to the audience's ups and downs, Lin En silently rolled his eyes. It was a bit noisy. Then, he received the items he won from the arena.

Lin En examined them and fell silent. After a moment, his lips gradually curved upward, and he couldn't help himself.

"Hehe hahaha!"

A demigod-tier artifact! It was practically free! How could he not be happy? Hehe...

The sudden burst of laughter startled the surrounding spectators. They looked at the gleeful Lin En and immediately knew he had won.

The losers glared at Lin En with gritted teeth, while the other winners smiled faintly.

...

Lin En stored away his newly acquired demigod-tier artifact and looked at the beast and human already standing in the arena.

This time, it was also a seventh-tier ferocious beast, one that resembled a porcupine. With those sharp quills, it looked quite formidable.

The duelist surprised Lin En a bit. Not only had the duelist reached the eighth tier, but the duelist was also decked out in eighth-tier equipment and weapons. Quite wealthy!

Without hesitation, Lin En bet on the duelist again. Hehe, another demigod-tier artifact was about to be added to his collection.

As expected, the duelist completely overwhelmed the ferocious beast, ending the battle in just over ten minutes.

Lin En happily pocketed another demigod-tier artifact and continued to await the next duel.

"What the heck? What is that thing? So ugly!" Lin En exclaimed, looking at the ferocious beast entering the arena.

A giant bovine beast lumbered into the arena. But what was unbearable was why a cow had a snake's head? Looking at the constantly flicking snake tongue, it was truly repulsive.

Lin En scrutinized the bizarre beast. Although it looked strange, it was at the ninth tier and had decent skills. It seemed this freak would win.

As expected, the duelist who appeared was only at the sixth tier. Hopeless.

As soon as the battle started, the beast instantly appeared in front of the duelist and swallowed them whole.

Lin En, who was preparing to happily receive another demigod-tier artifact, suddenly realized this time the reward was a demigod spark, and a rather incomplete one at that.

Examining the demigod spark in his hand, Lin En slowly sensed it. It contained an ordinary fire-based law, which wasn't of much value to him, but he could take it back and give it to his magical creatures.

After storing it away, he continued watching.

Just when Lin En thought this freak would continue, it unexpectedly vanished. With both sides lacking a fighter, new contestants were summoned.

However, the bizarre beast's disappearance was a relief to the remaining duelists on the platform. No one wanted to face that bizarre beast.

Next, Lin En won four more demigod sparks. It should have been five, but he missed the betting window once.

Even though they were demigod sparks containing ordinary laws, Lin En was still happy. After all, they were free. "Free stuff makes me happy," he sighed contentedly.

With five demigod sparks, he could cultivate five demigod-level magical creatures. After all, not every magical creature could comprehend laws, even the most ordinary ones.

As for his magical girls, Lin En wasn't too worried. Those who had been transformed into magical girls by Little Aunt were all talented, and those who had transformed themselves into magical girls weren't lacking in talent either. So there was no need to worry. Comprehending laws was just a matter of time, and magical creatures had long lifespans.

...

Oh! Lin En actually saw a familiar face: Xue Xia You Nai.

Lin En also noticed that Xue Xia You Nai had reached the ninth tier. Also, her equipment and weapons had been upgraded to the ninth tier. Impressive! Once she became a girl, she really went all out.

He glanced at Xue Xia You Nai's opponent, an eighth-tier ferocious beast. No need to watch any further. Lin En immediately bet on her to win.

It was a pity the arena wouldn't let him bet more, otherwise he wouldn't have won just these demigod sparks.

As soon as the duel started, the eighth-tier ferocious beast charged at Xue Xia You Nai, who adopted a stance that was very familiar to Lin En, and prepared a Battoujutsu (drawing sword technique).

Just as the ferocious beast was about to collide with her, a flash of cold light streaked across the arena. Xue Xia You Nai reappeared behind the ferocious beast, slowly sheathing her sword. The ferocious beast froze for a moment before collapsing to the ground.

Lin En, happy to have obtained another demigod spark, was delighted. Getting free stuff was just so great!

However, this little girl's growth rate seemed a bit fast. With that speed just now, even a ninth-tier peak expert might not be able to dodge, provided they weren't paying attention.
