Anton paused for a bit while the new butler, Mr. Jenkins, and Ronia waited for him.
“I think the problem is I don’t know enough about Ormunda to try to establish a business. I don’t know the different types of people living in this kingdom and what kind of products they might like to buy. Another issue is that coin-making is not a priority for me, since I can earn them through the dungeons,” He told both of his employees.
Both Mr. Jenkins and Ronia carried an expression that was loudly asking, “Then why are you thinking of opening a business?”.
Anton smiled when he saw both faces.
“Even though you’re not asking, I’ll answer your unspoken question. I told you earlier that I read in a novel that nobles had businesses where their family could gather the funds that kept their families in a lavish lifestyle. I wanted the same for my family, in case I suddenly die inside the dungeon. The issue is, those novels informed me that most businesses that the rich nobles had were tied to land management, like managing agricultural production, collecting rents, and some such things. To be honest with you both, our family had a specialty that would cause us to earn an untold amount of wealth, and before we arrived on this continent, we planned to establish that business. Unfortunately, the ship that we’re on sank, and I only managed to rescue my father and my sister.”
Anton paused a little, then continued.
“The three of us were a little traumatized, and we felt that the Undead Coalition, which was the organization that sank our ship, was not done with their ambition of conquering lands. They managed to conquer almost all the cities in Rendindura that we passed through, so we have decided to focus on increasing our strength. Me through the dungeons, my sister by studying in a magic school, and my father by establishing a mercenary or adventurer group. Anyways, I will hold off on doing anything, at least until my father arrives. My decision to buy this manor was already a big enough surprise for him. I just don’t want to keep the coins that I’m earning through the dungeon rotting in my inventory.”
“May I ask what family business you’re talking about? Is it related to crafting?”
“It’s not a secret, and I don’t plan to keep it a secret. I have access to a window to another dimension that has incredibly advanced technology and can create unimaginable plays. Through the window that I have access to, I can show those plays, which were called movies, to other people, and my magic automatically translates the language to the local language. You know what, it’s been a long time since I’ve shown my movies to others. Let me show one to you and the others so we can talk about the viability of this ability for business here in Ormunda, although I’m still not sure if our family is going to continue using this ability for business. Please find a huge room like a ballroom or something, gather enough chairs for everyone, and then an extremely large white curtain should be hung in front of the chairs, since that’s the one I’ll use to show the play. Can we do that? We’re going to start at around seven in the evening after dinner.”
Mr. Jenkins told Anton that they do have a ballroom in the manor, which was expected in a large manor such as the Rose Manor. Then both the butler and Ronia exited Anton’s room to prepare for his request.
Anton didn’t mind wasting a few hours showing one movie to his new employees. He decided that it was some form of celebration for purchasing the Rose Manor. He rang the bell that Ronia showed him, which was tied to a rope beside his bed, to summon one of them. Ringing the bell made him feel like some sort of a bourgeois.
He heard a knock on his door, and Mr. Jenkins was waiting for him.
“Do you need me for anything, Sir?”
“Sir?” Anton laughed.
“I’m sorry about that, Anton. It was just that I’m not used to calling my employers by their first name.”
“It’s fine. I forgot to ask you to invite Ms. Orwells to the event tonight, as well as the man who sold me this manor. What was his name again? If you can, please invite Ms. Elianah from the Adventurers Guild. She was my point of contact when I was delving the Balathar dungeon.”
“I’ll find the name of the property agent and invite him as well as do my best to invite Ms. Elianah for you,” The butler said.
When Mr. Jenkins left, Anton turned his attention to an important thing. What movie do we show everyone? If he was being honest with himself, Anton felt a little excited, which made him a little happy. He thought that after that traumatizing experience that his little family encountered aboard the Amelia, he would be averse to showing movies to others. He felt that his being excited about sharing one of his beloved things with others was a slight sign that he was on the road to healing.
Anton decided to show something that wouldn’t differ too much from this world. He wanted fantasy, romance, and comedy because the audience was both men and women. He decided on the Princess Bride film.
When he checked the time, it was not noon yet, but he wanted to rest a bit, so he decided to take a bath and then a nap. He was woken up by a knock, and when he checked the time, it was around five in the afternoon.
When Anton opened his door, Mr. Jenkins was waiting for him.
“Anton, I was able to invite Ms. Elianah and Mr. Timothy Mondraz, who was the property agent who sold you the Rose manor, and they said that they would come tonight. I also took the liberty of preparing food for everyone.”
“Thanks. I forgot about serving food. I’m hungry. Can you prepare something for me to eat? I’ll take a bath first, then I'll eat after that. You can just put the food on the table there,” Anton said while pointing at the table that was placed near the window overlooking the garden.
Anton then headed to the bathroom and took a bath. When he exited the bathroom, food was already on the table by the window, so after he put on his clothes, he ate, then rang the bell again to summon either the butler or Ronia. The reason why he kept summoning either one was that he planned to go to the room where they set up the cinema, and he didn’t want to search the whole manor looking for it.
Mr. Jenkins arrived soon after and led Anton to the ballroom where the cinema was set up. The lighting inside the manor was a mixture of lanterns that he had made and candles. Anton decided to hold off on delving into the dungeon and would create more items that the manor could utilize, like more Firebolt lanterns and more Frozen Orb Air Conditioners for cooling, as well as Firewall Stoves for heating.
When they arrived at the ballroom, a long table was prepared at the back that was filled with pastries and different drinks. Anton had to commend the new butler, Ronia, and probably Ms. Noria for how fast and efficiently they could work, given the time frame. Around 80 chairs were prepared and placed, and at the front was a large curtain.
