Chapter 556
Anton saw his father looking at him in surprise.
“Why did you keep them?” Anders asked, talking about the magic items.
“I don’t want to take the effort to sell them. I haven’t even identified most of them yet, and since you mentioned that you formed an Adventurer or Mercenary group, I thought that it would be best to keep them for you to give to your people so they would have powerful items they could use. You will need to hire someone to identify them, and it will likely cost you a significant amount of gold coins. You can sell those that you think you will not need to fund the identification process of the items. If you really need more coins, though, I did collect a lot of them and they’re in the treasure room,” Anton answered his father.
“He managed to save 600,000 gold coins that, for some idiotic reason, he put inside chests and placed in the treasure room,” Anna said while rolling her eyes.
“How can we have a treasure room without chests full of gold coins! Besides, the treasure room is guarded by a defensive array. I paid 20 high-level mana stones for that array,” Anton defended his choices regarding the treasure room.
Anna just sniffed at her brother.
“Where is this treasure room? Let me call my vice-captains. I’ll let him handle the process of identifying the items.”
Anton didn’t ask if the person that his father chose was trustworthy since he was sure that Anders knew what he was doing. Anton rang the bell that was placed on his father’s table to summon the butler.
“Right now, this bell was supposed to summon Mr. Jenkins. He is the manor’s butler. Once you hire a secretary, then your secretary will be the one that this bell will summon,” Anton said to his father.
After a few moments, they heard a knock on Anders’s office door. Mr. Jenkins entered when Anders said to “come in”.
“Can you summon my two vice captains. Their names are Daniel and Ingrid. By the way, where are my people staying?” Anders asked Raymond.
“All of the people in the manor, including Miss Anna’s teacher and classmates, and Anton’s guests, are in the ballroom. It is one of the biggest rooms that we have in the manor, and we have already prepared it for the moment you arrive with your people. All of them are eating some snacks there and talking to each other,” The butler said, and Anton looked at Raymond gratefully, which caused the butler to smile.
Anton was really impressed by Raymond Jenkins’s and everyone else for that matter, professionalism. After a while, Raymond returned, accompanied by a bulky man and a woman who looked like one of those female Amazons in the Diablo II world. Even Anna was staring with large eyes at the woman.
“Anton, Anna, these two are the vice-captains of the Adventurer Group that I formed. Their names are Daniel and Ingrid. Deniel and Ingrid, these are my children. They’re powerful wizards, and this beautiful manor was bought by my son, earned by delving a high-level dungeon alone,” Anton said to his vice captains proudly.
The two burly people looked at Anton with deep respect because those in their profession knew what it meant to be able to delve a high-level dungeon alone.
“Anton reached the 60th floor of the Corridors of Amuneta dungeon, alone!” Anders continued boasting, and Anders two vice-captains looked at him with surprise.
“Okay, we’re here. Lead us to your treasure room, Anton,” Anders said.
“It’s our treasure room, Father,” Anton said, then they all went out of his father’s office and went to the treasure room.
While they were walking, Anton explained the mechanics of the defensive array that he purchased from the Mage Guild, which was placed to protect the treasure room. The moment they arrived at the entrance of the treasure room, Anton’s father placed his hands in the center as instructed by Anton.
When the array opened, Anton, his father, his sister, and his father’s two vice-captains entered the treasure room. Anders and his two vice-captains gasped when they saw the glittering magic items that filled the room. The chests containing the gold coins that Anton had saved were opened, and he left them that way for dramatic purposes, which was achieved based on his father's and his vice-captains’ reactions.
The glow of the different magic items implied to all the people who would see them that they were all powerful items, and they were diverse. There were weapons for warriors, mages, and archers. There were shields and armors of all kinds.
Anders and his two vice-captains started inspecting the gears in the room while talking to each other about which person could wear which item. The main problem that they were concerned about was that they didn’t know the effect of the magic that the items had.
Anders then commanded his vice-captains that their next project was to hire a competent wizard to identify the magic items.
“Why can’t Sir Anton identify them?” Ingrid asked.
“I can, but I don’t want to,” Anton said carelessly.
Anders glared at his son while Anna rolled her eyes at him. Anton wondered if Anna’s eyes would finally roll off if she stayed in the manor for a long time.
“If you do it, we can save a lot of gold coins!” Anders told his son.
“I don’t want to. You can use those gold coins,” Anton said.
The two vice-captains' eyes bulged when they noticed the six chests filled with gold coins. Apparently, because they were too focused on the magic items, they failed to see the chests first, which were prominently displayed in the center of the room.
Anders just sighed at his son’s stubbornness. They kept the treasure room open so that Anders's vice-captains could come and go as they pleased to complete the assignment that Anton’s father gave them. Anton, Anders, and Anna’s disregard for the items and the gold coins in the treasure room basically informed those who noticed that the family didn’t truly value those things, but of course, they were not fools. Anton overheard his father telling his vice-captains that a log was needed for every action and coins that were spent on the project. The action also showed that Anders trusted his vice-captains, and that changed Anton’s perceptions regarding Daniel and Ingrid.
Mr. Jenkins and Torbin arrived to assist Anders' vice-captains regarding identifying the magic items.
In the meantime, Ronia arrived to lead Anton, his father, and Anna to the ballroom where everyone was staying. Upon entering the room, Anton saw that it was now a full-blown party. There was even loud music playing in the background, and Anton heard it was his voice singing. Anna lent her magical recorder, which has the songs Anton recorded, to one of her classmates, and now, it was playing in the background.
Anders led Anton and Anna to the table where Selena, Norma, and Belue’s families were gathered, and a round of introductions occurred. Anton could see their new relatives’ excited expression when they learned that they would now be staying in Rose Manor and would be basically treated as relatives of the rich owner.
Two children ran to Anders and hugged him while repeatedly asking if they were really going to stay in the magic mansion. The two children were Selena’s siblings. The boy was nine years old, named Alfred, and the girl was called Lune. She was 15 years old, which was two years older than Anna. Anton almost laughed out loud when his sister glared at Luna. She was apparently jealous when Luna hugged Anders’s arms. Anna went and grabbed Anders’s other arm and hugged it while looking at Anna, and Anders just sighed exasperatedly.
