Chapter 912: Chapter 911: The Perfect Spot for an Ambush

Seeing Wufu, completely dressed as a man and with no hint of grace, leaning against that prostitute, Ah Jiu was momentarily stunned.

If she hadn’t been the first to speak and call out, upon hearing that familiar tone and demeanor, had they met on the street, Ah Jiu would hardly believe this was a woman, because everything about her, from appearance to voice, was that of a man.

Ah Jiu, being a person with his own layers, saw the stranger dressed in fluttering white robes with long hair tied loosely with a ribbon, kept his expression unchanged, and walked in.

“They said you came to this place.” He walked over to Wufu’s side, barely glanced at the girl next to her, Miss Zuixiang, making her shudder inexplicably and silently leave Wufu’s side.

Ah Jiu sat down.

Across from them, Master Gui raised his eyebrows and looked at Wufu: “Xiao Five, who is this?”

“Oh, Mo Jiu, he’s from Beiyan, does business, a friend of mine.” Wufu introduced with a smile.

“Ninth Master.” Master Gui naturally picked up on the incomplete introduction but didn’t mind, considering it was their first meeting.

Wufu then introduced Master Gui to Ah Jiu, saying with a laugh, “Master Gui and I hit it off instantly; his Riches Gambling House is my lucky spot. I came here to have fun after striking it big there today.”

Ah Jiu looked at him with a half-smile, “Of all places, why choose here?”

“It’s human nature to indulge in such pleasures.” Wufu chuckled awkwardly.

Watching their interaction, Master Gui smiled without interrupting.

“What kind of business brings Ninth Master here?” Master Gui finally found a chance to ask.

Ah Jiu replied, “The Mo Family deals in medicinal herbs; Qianjin Hall is ours. I imagine Master Gui is aware.”

Master Gui was a bit surprised. The way this was phrased seemed to readily disclose his origins. Any investigation would likely yield this same information.

“Qianjin Hall has a solid reputation; its herbs are affordable and popular with the people,” he said with a smile.

Ah Jiu replied, “After all, we are outsiders here. Doing business within the Nanyue Region, how can we compete with the nobles and powerful people?”

Master Gui gave a faint smile but said nothing.

Wufu stood up, swaying slightly.

With quick reflexes, Ah Jiu steadied him: “Where are you going?”

“Nature calls.” Wufu giggled.

Only then did Ah Jiu release his hand.

Wufu walked out, and Chi San quickly followed. In the brothel, one could encounter all sorts, and this one being the most famous, surely even some nobles and powerful people might be here. It wouldn’t do well to offend anyone.

“You just wait here. Nature’s call never carries any fragrance.” Wufu said to Chi San as he approached the toilet block.

Chi San paused, “Master.”

Wufu looked at him and blinked.

Suddenly understanding, a cold glance flashed in Chi San’s eyes, which he quickly concealed, and he cupped his hands, saying, “I’ll wait here.”

Wufu nodded and continued to sway his way to the latrine. Chi San leaned against a pillar, waiting idly, but keeping a watchful eye on the surroundings.

The sky was already completely dark. The latrine in the Fragrance Quest Pavilion was a separate small courtyard, placed a bit off to avoid the smell reaching the main building.

A row of latrines with only a small, flickering windproof lamp hanging at the door, gently swaying in the breeze, looked quite eerie compared to the sound of strings and flutes from afar.

“What a perfect place to murder someone and dispose of the body secretly in a sack.” Wufu muttered as she looked at the dancing shadows of the trees, squinting a bit.

She pushed open the door to one of the toilets, slipped inside, and even started whistling while keeping her ears keenly alert.
