Chapter 189: Always a Pleasant Surprise
“This…”
Everyone fell silent as they witnessed the shocking scene before them.
For a long time, no one spoke.
Finally, someone whispered, “The Golden Sun Sect is finished.”
Once a powerful and respected force in the cultivation world, the Golden Sun Sect's downfall came at the hands of a single young man—someone who hadn’t even stepped into the Divine Palace Realm. No one could have predicted such an end.
“Isn’t there still a chance? Hasn't the Golden Sun Sect’s Grand Elder made a move yet?” a young cultivator asked in disbelief.
An older figure shook his head calmly. “If they had someone like that, they would’ve stepped in already. The fact that no one has shown up means they likely no longer have a Grand Elder.”
For years, rumors had swirled that Golden Sun Sect had been in decline, but they kept their secrets well hidden. On the surface, things didn’t seem too bad—perhaps only their younger generation looked a bit weak.
But now…
It was clear that their decline went far deeper.
It wasn’t just the younger disciples. Even the elders had no one left strong enough to support the sect.
If the other sects had known the true state of the Golden Sun Sect earlier, they would've been wiped out many times already.
“Even so,” an old white-haired man murmured to the child beside him, “The Golden Sun Sect still has a deep foundation built over many years. They weren’t ordinary.”
He then looked to the east.
“Profound Sun Holy Land… used to be Holy Land in name only. They didn’t have the strength to back that title.”
“But now? After absorbing the Beast Taming Sect and now destroying the Golden Sun Sect through the hands of their Holy Son, the Profound Sun Holy Land has grown stronger by the day. With the foundation of two sects now theirs, they’re about to rise in the world.”
Although none of the three sects had true Saint-level techniques, their collections of high-grade Heaven-level techniques and divine techniques had multiplied. And with that came the rise of future powerhouses.
A thousand years from now…
If the Profound Sun Holy Land produces even a single true Saint and develops a genuine Saint-level technique…
Then their name will no longer be just a title—it will be the truth.
“Maybe it’s time to let the younger ones from our clan join the Profound Sun Holy Land,” the old man whispered.
His words stirred the thoughts of those nearby.
After all, the Golden Sun Sect was located not far from the Profound Sun Holy Land—just a few hundred thousand miles. For ordinary people, that was a lifetime of travel. But for cultivators, it was just a few years of journeying.
And compared to others, the disciples of the Golden Sun Sect were in a much darker place.
Every one of them looked as pale as death. Their sect master had fallen, and the strongest among them were barely in the Divine Power Realm. Facing someone like Li Xun, they couldn’t even withstand a single glare.
As for revenge…?
That was laughable.
None of them could compare to Li Xun in talent. With time, the gap would only grow larger. As long as Li Xun didn’t hunt them down, that would already be considered mercy.
“Li Xun, you’ve gone too far!”
The yellow-robed elder glared at Li Xun with bloodshot eyes, his hatred nearly erupting from his body. “Are you really going to destroy the entire legacy of our Golden Sun Sect?”
Li Xun’s expression didn’t change.
“From this day on,” he said coldly, “The Golden Sun Sect no longer exists.”
With a flick of his hand, he summoned a jade slip and sent a message to Elder Xie.
All he needed was for Elder Xie to come and collect the spoils. After all, Li Xun alone couldn’t carry away everything from an entire sect.
“You bastard! I’ll die before I let you get away with this!”
With a roar, the yellow-robed elder’s aura surged like a volcano about to erupt. A terrifying energy swept out, shaking the very sky—he was ready to burn everything to the ground.
Everyone around gasped in shock and instinctively retreated.
“He’s going to self-destruct!” someone shouted.
A self-detonation by a Life and Death Realm cultivator was no joke—it could wipe out everything within hundreds of miles. Even someone at the Divine Palace Realm would need to treat it with caution.
Sure, Li Xun might be strong enough to survive such an explosion, but the others? They’d be torn to pieces.
If they were too close, there’d be no chance of survival.
“What are you all waiting for? If dozens of Life and Death cultivators like us all self-destruct at once, even someone like Li Xun wouldn’t walk away unscathed! Dragging him to hell with us— we’d die without regrets!” the yellow-robed elder roared.
He was already consumed by madness, charging straight at Li Xun like a meteor ready to explode. Behind him, he shouted again at the remaining elders of the Golden Sun Sect.
But Li Xun only chuckled lightly.
“If you want to die, that’s your business. Doesn’t mean the others will follow you.”
He stepped forward calmly.
As his foot hit the ground, the heavens trembled. Crimson blood energy surged around him like a burning inferno. With a mighty swing of his massive red halberd, he brought it down from the sky.
BOOM!
The halberd fell like a divine judgment, smashing down with world-crushing force.
For a brief moment, the madness on the yellow-robed elder’s face froze. He glanced behind him—and what he saw made his heart sink.
None of the other Golden Sun Sect elders had moved to follow him. Instead, they had all taken a step back.
“…Heh… hehehe…”
A broken, hoarse laugh escaped his throat.
But before it could turn into anything more, it was cut short. The blood-red halberd struck him directly, turning him into a cloud of blood mist. No bones, no ashes—just gone.
“As of today, the Golden Sun Sect is no more.”
Li Xun hovered in the sky, his voice calm and cold.
Earlier, it had only been speculation that the Golden Sun Sect was doomed. But now, with those words from Li Xun himself, it became an absolute truth.
The remaining disciples and elders of Golden Sun Sect trembled. Some stole glances at Li Xun, but quickly averted their eyes, as though looking directly at him would bring death.
They knew it was over.
Revenge? Impossible.
All they could do now… was accept reality.
. . . . . . . . . .
Below, Ye Han stepped forward.
With the elders gone, no one stood in his way now. He raised his spear, and with a single thrust—squelch—he pierced Ye Qingyu’s heart. The man couldn’t even resist.
Blood poured out, soaking the ground.
Some Golden Sun Sect disciples stared at Ye Qingyu’s lifeless body. But instead of grief, their eyes showed faint relief.
If it hadn’t been for him, would their sect have ended up like this?
If the sect had handed Ye Qingyu over from the start, maybe… just maybe… the Golden Sun Sect might have been spared.
But now, everything is gone.
Ye Qingyu was dead. And the sect had crumbled with him.
“Father… you can rest now.”
Ye Han whispered, then sent a burst of energy through his spear, reducing Ye Qingyu’s corpse to dust.
He rose into the air and approached Li Xun, taking a deep breath before bowing respectfully.
“Senior Brother Li,” he said solemnly, “Junior Brother Ye Han thanks you for your help today.”
Li Xun waved it off casually. “It was nothing.”
But Ye Han was firm. “This kindness… I will never forget.”
After a moment of thought, he reached into his storage ring and retrieved a black token, offering it with both hands.
“Senior Brother has already helped me far too much. I may never be able to repay you… but please accept this token. Don’t refuse—it’s the least I can do.”
“Oh?”
Li Xun raised an eyebrow with interest.
Compared to investing in random people, he much preferred backing those with “main character potential.” People like Ye Han… always brought pleasant surprises.
And today was no different.
