Chapter 2 The Verification Space

Closing the closet door, Lu Heng quickly walked to the door. Outside was a delivery driver. "Mr. Ma, right? This is your order."

Taking the meal box from the delivery driver and placing it on the cabinet by the door, Lu Heng glanced at the delivery driver who was turning to leave, then calmly closed his apartment door.

He opened the food delivery app on his phone and checked. Sure enough, his breakfast, ordered early in the morning, had arrived.

He had no memory of what specifically happened that day. Reborn three days before the apocalypse, he didn't have much time to waste.

In his previous life, before the apocalypse, Lu Heng, at only 27 years old, was a surgeon at a national hospital. New to the workforce, he wasn't a chief surgeon yet, so he had quite a bit of leisure time.

With many hobbies, Lu Heng was also a fitness enthusiast. When he chose surgery as his specialty, many seniors had kindly reminded him that to be a good surgeon, one needed a good physique. After all, some surgeries were very long, and standing on the operating table for several hours required good stamina.

In his free time, Lu Heng frequented the gym. Occasionally, he would participate in city marathons. Although his results were average, he could at least finish the race.

This was also why he was able to survive in the apocalypse for eight years by "playing it safe."

Pulling out the dean's phone number from his contacts, he didn't hesitate to press the call button. He had asked the dean for leave, saying he wasn't feeling well and needed to rest at home for three days.

The dean didn't say much, only instructing him to rest well at home. After all, surgeons like them couldn't work properly if they were unwell.

After hanging up, Lu Heng began to ponder. He knew what would be most lacking after the apocalypse.

It would definitely be all sorts of supplies.

For example: food, drinking water, medicine...

And weapons, all kinds of cold and hot weapons.

He was just an ordinary citizen and didn't have the ability to obtain these supplies in large quantities. Weapons were still regulated items, so he couldn't get them at all.

However... he had a strange space.

To verify his idea, he glanced at the meal box placed by the door. With a wave of his hand, the meal box disappeared from the room.

Glancing at his phone, which showed 7:30 AM, he put it down. Then, with a thought, Lu Heng entered the space again. Now that he had taken leave, no one would bother him. He had to verify all possibilities.

Entering the space, Lu Heng quickly got up and walked to the kitchen. He turned on the faucet. Yes, there was water, and it flowed continuously for several minutes.

He turned on the gas stove. Yes, the gas could also be used normally.

He had entered once before, and the elevator in the hallway was working normally. He didn't need to test the electricity again.

Grabbing his car keys, he quickly went downstairs. Lu Heng had bought a car with a loan when he first started working, and he still had five years of loan payments left.

Driving the car, he headed out of the city along the road. Along the way, apart from the sound of his car starting, it was extremely quiet outside, so quiet it was a little frightening.

On the road, he saw a shopping mall. He remembered there was a large supermarket there. The car turned, and Lu Heng parked it in front of the supermarket.

Looking at the deserted mall, he headed straight for the supermarket. Time was limited, and he had to investigate quickly.

The lights in the mall were all on, looking as if it were open for business.

The supermarket shelves were well-stocked with all kinds of food, drinking water and beverages, meat, seafood, vegetables, fruits, cooked food, and various daily necessities.

Lu Heng casually picked up a bottle of drink from the shelf and took a few sips. What happened next surprised him, scaring him so much that he coughed several times from the drink.

Where he had taken the drink from, another bottle was automatically replenished. He looked at the half-empty bottle in his hand and, disbelieving, took another drink of a different brand next to it.

Yes, it didn't disappoint him. It was automatically replenished there.

Endless supply, inexhaustible.

"Hahaha..." Having grown accustomed to the silence around him, Lu Heng laughed to himself in the supermarket.

He loaded a case of his favorite cola into the car and drove further out of the city. He wanted to see how large this space was.

To his disappointment, the car could no longer proceed when it reached the city's boundary.

The road extending out of the city suddenly broke off. Beyond the broken road was a vast expanse of white. He tried to find a branch by the roadside and probed forward.

The end of the branch seemed to have touched a wall. Lu Heng poked it several times but couldn't extend it any further.

He withdrew the wooden stick in his hand and looked at the place where it touched the white expanse. Yes, there was no change.

He stood there for a while, unable to figure out why it was like this. However, this space was already large enough.

Driving back towards the apartment, he turned into a gas station and filled up his car.

Back at the apartment, he took the cola he had taken from the supermarket with him.

Passing by the ancient well outside the apartment, he glanced at the well water. This well had suddenly appeared, so it was likely not ordinary well water.

It wouldn't make sense for God to give him an ancient well if it were just a common well.

He went back to find a kettle and went downstairs again to draw a kettle of well water.

Carrying the cola in his left hand and the kettle of well water in his right, Lu Heng returned to the real world.

Putting down the items, he looked at the phone left in the room. The time still showed 7:30 AM.

He had spent half a day running around in the city within the space, but the time outside had not changed.

It seemed that time in the space was not synchronized with the outside. Time inside was static relative to the outside.

He looked at the water he had drawn from the ancient well, poured a glass, and looked at the clear water. He picked up the glass and smelled it. There was no chlorine smell like tap water.

In the apocalypse, the water outside would be undrinkable. In the early days of the apocalypse, water still flowed from the taps, but at that time, people didn't know how the zombies outside appeared. Everyone feared that the tap water was also unsafe and no one dared to try it.

But pure bottled water was limited, so being able to drink a cup of clean water was a luxury.

In his previous life, Lu Heng had even drunk rainwater directly, so seeing the clean water without impurities in the glass, he dared to try drinking it.

He took a small sip. The taste was very sweet and refreshing. He didn't know if it had any special functions yet.

Feeling that the water tasted much better than the drinks, Lu Heng drank the entire glass in one go.

After drinking it, he felt much more energetic. The fatigue from his activities in the space earlier had vanished.

Looking at the cola, which he no longer had much desire to drink, Lu Heng waved his hand, and the cola instantly disappeared from the room.

After the cola disappeared, Lu Heng suddenly seemed to remember something. He tried to think of the drink he had in the supermarket, and then with a wave of his hand, a case of that drink appeared on the floor of the room.

Lu Heng...

If he had known that he could just wave his hand to get these things, why the hell did he go to the trouble of moving a case of cola back from the supermarket?
