Chapter 222 The Queen Bee in the Hive

Tough vines naturally spread out more branches just as they were about to touch the giant bees. These giant bees had wings, and if they were all caught in a single net, they would suffer varying degrees of damage.

Fortunately, Lu Heng adjusted the vines in time, randomly capturing a few giant bees that appeared to be larger in size.

The giant bees caught by the vines struggled incessantly, but even though their bodies were already quite robust, they were still bound tightly by the vines Lu Heng had created.

In fact, the mouthparts of the giant bees had also changed with their mutation. After failing to break free, they began to try to use their sharpened mouthparts to gnaw at the vine branches in front of them.

Lu Heng discovered this and made the vines in front of the giant bees even thicker. The giant bees, which had been gnawing fiercely moments before, suddenly had nowhere to bite. Even a few of the larger ones managed to bite into the vines, but they couldn't shake the iron-hard vines.

"Catch these few, and burn the rest. There are no crystals anyway," Lu Heng said to Lin Yu, looking at the large nets already placed beneath the roc. Giant bees were still flying towards them.

Upon hearing Lu Heng's command, Lin Yu continued to tap the air with his left hand, creating a denser volley of ice cones that directly struck the incoming giant bees.

Immediately after, he clenched his right hand in the air again, and as he opened it, he pushed his palm forward.

Instantly, a cluster of blue flames shot from Lin Yu's palm. After leaving the roc's flight range, the cluster of flames split into countless tiny blue flames, striking the second wave of giant bees surging towards them.

The small blue flames fiercely penetrated the round bodies of the giant bees. Before the giant bees could react, their wings still flapping, within a second, they began to burn from within.

Their originally orange-yellow bodies revealed a hint of blue from the inside, and then a cluster of flames under their wings appeared to be burning, continuing to fly towards Lu Heng and the others.

However, just as they were about to approach, the burning organic matter instantly turned into black ash, scattering in the sky.

Lu Heng glanced at Lin Yu beside him. This child was learning very quickly. In their previous battles, he hadn't been able to use his two abilities so freely, but his current operations were like a martial artist who had opened up the Ren and Du meridians, controlling his abilities with complete ease.

"Golden Eagle, go directly to the beehive and see how many giant bees are there. Don't confront them head-on."

The Golden Eagle received the command, let out a sharp cry towards the sky, then spread its wings and quickly retracted them. It then controlled the airflow around itself and swooped down fiercely towards the direction of the beehive.

"Lu Ge, is it okay for the Golden Eagle to go by itself?"

Lin Yu, while fighting, still had the leisure to pay attention to the Golden Eagle's movements and asked with some concern.

"It's fine. These giant bees don't have abilities. Apart from their bodies being stronger than before mutation, their attack power is actually inferior to the long-range attacking Golden Eagle. As long as they aren't surrounded and cornered by the giant bees, the Golden Eagle will definitely be fine."

As they continued to fight their way through, Lu Heng directed the roc towards the giant bees' nest.

In fact, their speed was not much slower than the Golden Eagle's. Within a few breaths, Lu Heng, sitting on the roc's back, could clearly see the situation of the giant beehive.

Below was a huge beehive, already the size of a detached villa.

This must have been built after the giant bees' bodies mutated and grew. It was just unknown whether such large giant bees still collected pollen and nectar, and whether their food had also changed.

"Don't burn that beehive later. I want to check the situation inside," Lu Heng told Lin Yu in advance, fearing that Lin Yu would immediately set the entire beehive ablaze.

"Oh."

As they approached the beehive, Lin Yu stopped using his fire abilities.

The area around the beehive was densely forested, with various plants growing wildly. As Lin Yu approached the forest, he was surprised to find that these trees also seemed much thicker and taller than those in other places.

"Lu Ge, the giant bees are all gone. Shall we go down and take a look?"

Lu Heng nodded and directed the roc to approach. Hovering above the trees, they landed on the ground along the vines.

"This beehive is really big. Let's see if there's any honey inside. If we take it all back, we can eat it for a long time."

Lu Heng glanced at the captured giant bees hanging in mid-air. Their mouthparts had changed, like steel saws, constantly probing the vines, trying to bite through them to attack Lu Heng and the others.

So, judging by the changes in their mouthparts, it was uncertain whether there was honey inside.

Standing in front of the giant beehive, Lin Yu extended his right hand, and instantly an ice axe appeared in his hand.

Raising the axe high, Lin Yu swung it towards the giant beehive.

With a loud bang, a huge opening split open on the outer perimeter of the hive, and debris from the edges of the opening scattered around.

The giant bees hanging in mid-air suddenly struggled.

Lu Heng looked up, and then the vines wrapped around the giant bees' bodies tightened considerably, momentarily quieting the struggling bees.

Lin Yu instinctively raised his arm to shield his face, not wanting to be disfigured by these fragments.

"Didn't you think about it before you chopped?" Lu Heng stood behind him with some helplessness, watching Lin Yu make another foolish mistake.

"Hehe, I'll know next time."

"Many times in life, there is no second chance," Lu Heng's somewhat serious voice sounded beside him.

Then, Lu Heng also produced a large axe. It was better for him to demonstrate first.

Lu Heng's axe made an additional chop in the newly created crack. But as he swung down, two ice shields suddenly expanded from the upper part of the axe to both sides.

The flying debris was deflected by the shields and scattered beneath them. When the great axe was raised again, the shields disappeared, reducing the resistance when pulling back.

"Lu Ge, let me do it."

"Okay."

As Lu Heng and the others' levels increased, these abilities could now change forms at will. In a seemingly single action, they could continue to change and were not confined to one form. This was what Lu Heng wanted to tell Lin Yu.

Lin Yu swung at the giant beehive again, and soon he reached the center of the hive, where a much larger, wriggling maggot was constantly moving.

Around the maggot, various skeletons were scattered. The biological species were diverse.

However, Lin Yu did not find any human skeletons inside.

"Is this the queen bee? Should we catch it and study it?" Lin Yu tapped the maggot's body with his ice axe and asked Lu Heng beside him.

"No need. This thing seems to eat meat. We can't afford to raise it if we take it back."

Lin Yu nodded at this, controlled the vines to cover down, wrapped the giant maggot, and dragged it out of the giant beehive.
