Chapter 1443 Thrilling! Passed the First Round of Interviews!

“Hello, my name is Chen Yiming, and I’m here for the interview today.”

Chen Xuan extended his hand politely.

However, Xu Ya and Pan Meili didn’t even glance at him, let alone return the handshake. Seeing this, Xu Ya chuckled.

Chen Xuan was about to awkwardly retract his hand when Xu Ya extended hers. “Hello.”

Xu Ya’s considerate gesture surprised Chen Xuan.

“Thank you, Miss Bai,” Chen Xuan said with a smile.

“Alright, introduce yourself,” Pan Meili said.

Chen Xuan stated calmly, “My name is Chen Yiming. I graduated from Harvard University with a Master’s degree in Finance. I previously worked at Lis Group abroad for two years as a venture capital investor and financial consultant. I returned to China a year ago and, upon hearing that your company was hiring, I came to apply for a position here.”

Chen Xuan’s academic background shocked everyone present.

Among the interviewees, foreign university graduates were not uncommon, but they were often from less reputable institutions with little academic standing. Someone graduating from Harvard University was absolutely unprecedented.

Furthermore, Chen Xuan held a Master’s degree in Finance from Harvard, which completely overshadowed the previous interviewees.

They had expected the quality of interviewees to decline in the later stages, but they hadn’t anticipated someone like this appearing.

Everyone was stunned, except for Xu Ya, who frowned and sized up Chen Xuan.

“You said you graduated from Harvard University with a major in Finance?” Bai Ling asked, surprised.

“Yes.”

Chen Xuan nodded without changing his expression.

Of course, this was all fabricated. His academic qualifications were faked by the Dragon Soul team using their connections. However, it seemed the qualifications were too well-made, and foreign diplomas were harder to verify.

Domestic ones were different; with some influence and connections, their authenticity could be easily ascertained.

“That’s great! In that case, you should call me senior sister,” Bai Ling said with a smile.

“Miss Bai is also a Harvard Finance graduate?”

Chen Xuan’s expression changed slightly, but he maintained his composure.

Damn it, he never expected to encounter a Harvard graduate here, let alone in the same major.

“Mr. Chen, my advisor was Mr. Smith. Did you know him at university? How is he doing?” Bai Ling asked with a smile.

Chen Xuan hesitated for a moment and then exclaimed, “My advisor was also the financial expert Mr. Smith. However, I haven’t seen him since graduation. But I heard that Mr. Smith recently published an important financial article with very insightful views on the development of modern finance. I think we can discuss it in detail later.”

“Are you referring to that article on the future direction of modern finance?”

“Exactly!”

“Yes, I read it too. Our advisor is so insightful…”

With these words, it was as if a dam had broken, and Bai Ling eagerly continued.

Just then, a cough interrupted them. “Ahem…”

Bai Ling glanced at Xu Ya and stuck out her tongue. “Junior brother Chen, let’s chat more another time.”

“Mr. Chen, you have a Master’s degree in Finance. Why are you applying for a position in the Public Relations Department of Huang Hai Group?” Xu Ya stared intently at Chen Xuan, posing a very sharp question.

Chen Xuan smiled and replied, “Although I have a Master’s degree in Finance, I’ve grown tired of the financial industry and want a change of pace. I think the Public Relations Department is a good fit, as it fosters communication between people. Additionally, Huang Hai Group is a powerful and reputable company, which is also part of the attraction for me.”

Chen Xuan’s answer left Xu Ya speechless.

“So, you have unique insights into public relations?” Pan Meili also inquired.

“Not exactly unique insights, just some immature suggestions. If I am accepted into the Public Relations Department of Huang Hai Group, I believe everyone here will see them,” Chen Xuan’s response remained flawless.

However, Chen Xuan was quite nervous. He was particularly worried that Pan Meili might deliberately cause trouble for him. If he wasn’t mistaken, Pan Meili was from the Pan family of Xizhimen.

“Then, how come I heard that Mr. Chen seemed to have had a conflict with someone outside just now?” Pan Meili asked with a smile that was not a smile.

Chen Xuan’s expression shifted.

If he had only been seventy to eighty percent sure that Pan Meili was from the Pan family of Xizhimen before, this question increased his certainty to at least ninety-five percent.

“It wasn’t exactly a conflict, just a dispute,” Chen Xuan said calmly.

Pan Meili’s gaze towards Chen Xuan was not friendly, with a hint of coldness mixed in.

“All the questions have been asked. Let’s vote on whether Mr. Chen can proceed to the next round of interviews,” Bai Ling said with a radiant smile.

With her concerned look, Chen Xuan felt that Bai Ling would definitely agree to let him advance. He was also eighty percent sure about Xu Ya. The only uncertainty was Pan Meili; she was probably instructed by Pan Ping to get rid of him.

“I agree!” Bai Ling said, her eyes darting about lively. “Mr. Chen’s qualifications are superior to all the previous interviewees.”

This was within Chen Xuan’s expectations.

Bai Ling then looked at Xu Ya. “Secretary Xu, what do you think?”

Xu Ya’s face was stern, and she shook her head. “I disagree.”

Disagree?

This surprised not only Chen Xuan but also Bai Ling.

This was troublesome. If Xu Ya disagreed, and Pan Meili also disagreed, wouldn’t he be eliminated? Wouldn’t that mean the mission had failed before it even began?

Chen Xuan suddenly felt as if the sky was collapsing.

“Why, Miss Xu?” Bai Ling seemed to want to advocate for Chen Xuan.

“I believe that with Mr. Chen’s high academic qualifications, his application to our Huang Hai Group’s Public Relations Department is clearly driven by ulterior motives.”

“Miss Xu, you can’t say that, can you? I’m also a Harvard graduate,” Bai Ling said with a frown.

Xu Ya did not offer further explanation.

“Vice Minister Pan, what are your thoughts?”

Bai Ling also looked at Pan Meili with some nervousness. She had already learned that Pan Meili had spoken to all the examiners beforehand, asking them to look favorably upon Pan Ping. Since Pan Ping had had a conflict with Chen Xuan earlier, her treatment of Chen Xuan was predictable.

Pan Meili smiled sweetly, but her eyes held endless malice. “I don’t think he’s very good…”

Uh…

Chen Xuan frowned tightly.

Bai Ling was also taken aback.

But then Pan Meili changed her tune. “However, Mr. Chen still has considerable advantages. I think he can proceed to the next round!”

Xu Ya looked confused, as did Chen Xuan. Judging by her demeanor, Pan Meili didn’t seem like someone who would uphold justice at personal cost; rather, she appeared petty, narrow-minded, and vengeful.

“Congratulations, Mr. Chen, on passing the first round of assessment. I hope you can pass the next round too!” Bai Ling said with a smile and extended her hand.

“Thank you, I will work hard.” Chen Xuan shook hands with Bai Ling.

“I hope you have such good luck next time,” Xu Ya said coldly, displaying a significant animosity towards Chen Xuan.

This woman was so fierce; perhaps she wasn’t interested in men at all?
